Why Don't You Go Where Fashion Sits?
Who: Participants of the Kalosmas New Year's Event!
Where: The Hotel Richissime, in scenic Lumiose City, Kalos!
When: Wednesday, December 31 - Thursday, January 1!
Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:
• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.
• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.
• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!
• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.
• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.
A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:
Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:
On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

[ He suddenly, uncharacteristically buries his head in Raikov's shoulder. Raikov smells great, as always. It really isn't fair. None of this is fair.
Well. There doesn't seem to be much turning back at this point. He takes a deep breath and mumbles something very quickly, of which the only potentially intelligible word is: ]

[... That was unexpected. Raikov glances down at him, not that he can see. Over the music and the fact that Valmont's mumbling, he couldn't really make out what the man said.]

[ Well, that came out louder than he intended. If Raikov could see his face, he'd notice that it's about ten shades redder than it's ever been. ]
I mean -
[ Should he take it back? Can he take it back? His hands let go of Raikov's waist, the better for him to make a quick escape if he has to. ]

Raikov quickly grabs Val's hands and attempts to coax him back into dancing so they don't attract anymore attention than they already have. If he does, the Russian leans in again and whispers into his ear:]
... I might have feelings for you too.
[Part of him is teasing, the other is telling the truth. It isn't as difficult to say as "I love you" is.]

[ He lets Raikov maneuver his hands back into position, stunned. He honestly hadn't been expecting Raikov to reciprocate, and certainly not that easily. Hadn't he only been keeping him around for companionship and sex? Yes, he seemed to care a bit more than he ought to at times, but... actual feelings?

The song gradually, mercifully ends, and for the second time he releases Raikov abruptly. There's an announcement, something about the holograms starting in just a minute, but right now holograms are the farthest thing from his mind. ]

...That is not the Heimlich, good sir. But thankfully, it seems to be enough to clear whatever was obstructing his airways. Valmont coughs and splutters undignifiedly for the better part of the next minute, then turns to glare at Raikov, eyes watering. See what you did! ]

The Russian is unimpressed but cracks a smile at the sight. Valmont panicking like this is funny. He almost feels sorry for him. Almost.
Raikov kneels down in front of him and quietly snorts as he shakes his head.]
Oh, Niles. What am I going to do with you?

He averts his eyes and, with a bit of difficulty, answers Raikov's question. ]
You are going to watch the holograms with me.
[ Because they're starting. ]

Raikov laughs and grabs a chair to sit next to him, deciding to stop the subject for now and enjoy the hologram show.]

Finally though, when midnight draws near, everyone in the ballroom counts down.
And just as the clock strikes midnight, Raikov grabs the back of Valmont's head, pulling him in rather roughly, and kisses him passionately. Thought that one from earlier was good? This one is ever better now that he can pour his true feelings into it. Hell, things might start getting racy if he keeps it up. Perhaps it's a taste of what's to come.
He eventually pulls away, panting softly as he rests his forehead against Val's, his cheeks flushed.
Of course, you can't ring in the new year with just a kiss. Raikov grins and grabs the man's crotch before speaking in his native tongue.]

[ He leads Raikov by the wrist as they head out, fireworks exploding behind them. It's not exactly an affectionate gesture, but it's pretty close. ]

He chuckles and follows the man, not that he's given much choice. They eventually make it back to their room and properly celebrate the new year.]
