Summary: It's a big-ass open meet-and-greet where the common denominator is Parker. Surely this cannot possibly go wrong!

KEY:

• 4 → Study. Lots of bookshelves, and some comfy chairs to read those books in. Also home to the World's Nicest Couch™.
• 5 → Living Room. Or something like it. TV, couches, plenty of space for high school students to chill.
• 6 → Tennis Court. In the backyard. The center of the former occupants' universe. There's also a pool that the backyard shares with the house next door, plus a barn constructed by the former owners. Along one wall of the house is a garden inhabited by a vicious Carnivine named Audrey II, because the previous owner had a sick sense of humor.

[You know what, it's probably a good thing Eliot is used to hanging around some pretty loud people, which prevents him from being too bothered or from... really reacting much at all. But. Still. Has no one ever taught this kid about volume control.]

[He looks up and pauses what he's doing for a bit, eying the kid in front of him. He hasn't exactly been told much about the kids Parker's befriended, at least nothing too specific, so he hasn't been too sure what to expect.]

You're one of Alice's friends, right?

Alice-san is my sister, yes! She told me a bit about you, but not much -

[Ah, god, where the hell are his manners - you are getting the deepest bow from the waist in greeting, sir.]

Ah - my name is Ishimaru Kiyotaka; I'm one of the people in charge of making sure everything runs smoothly around here!

[Well that... sure is a thing. He's been in Japan enough times that the bowing isn't too weird for him, but even then it's been a while since anyone had done it. Probably because usually the only people he deals with over there definitely aren't the bowing type, whoops.]

Wait... sister?

[Is this some kind of weird surrogate family deal, what the hell has Parker been up to?

Either way, damn, that's one serious kid.]

Yes, that's right!

[He's attempting to resist the urge to facepalm because this is one of Parker's friends and also it's a kid, so let's try getting through at least a conversation without doing that.

So she's your sister, huh? Guess you're pretty close to her if you're calling her that.

She is! We met here over a year ago - it's going to be two in April. My brother says that we see the world differently than most people, and I've found that to be true.

[...Apparently he just has spare family members lying around here, um.]

You're her...friend, is that right?

...Yeah, I am. [If someone had asked him that a few months ago, he's not sure if he would've called anyone from the team his friend. Even now he's still a little hesitant.] We work together.

[...Wait. Uh.]

She ever talk about her job?

[Because he doesn't actually know for sure what Parker's told people about what she does for a living.]

[...Oh.

He hesitates for a moment, as though he's not entirely sure he should be saying anything about it, but if Eliot works with her then it should be fine. Right?

To his credit, his voice is decidedly quieter when he responds, so at least there's that.]

...I don't know if she's told anyone else. But I know about what you both do.

It's also "Parker," not "Alice-san." I know about that, too.

...Figured as much. She said some people knew, so I thought someone close enough to be calling her family was the best bet.

I'm surprised she managed to keep up an alias long-term. Acting's never been her strong suit. To put it mildly.

[Still miles ahead of Sophie when she's not grifting, but that... really isn't saying a lot.]

So you know about what she does, what we do. And you're okay with that, huh?

No, I'm not. Not really.

[And it's blunt but it's honest, even if he doesn't seem entirely sure of what he thinks about it. It's not okay, but...]

I've spent my entire life dedicated to justice and order, so of course I'm not all right with that sort of thing. But my classmates and I have been through a situation where justice wasn't...enough.

[hitsitoff]

That's fine. Lot of people out there who wouldn't be fine with it. And if it were a perfect world, I'd agree with 'em.

[At the very least, he appreciates Ishimaru's honesty. And he probably would've been more surprised at a yes than a no.]

...Yeah, Parker mentioned something about that. No specifics. Just that something bad went down.

[There's another moment of hesitation.]

...You might want to be careful with what's said around my classmates, until you're used to them.

A lot of us died. The ones that didn't had to watch.

Well, that certainly makes Eliot go quiet.

It had been a possibility he'd considered, that death had been involved. But he had hoped it wouldn't have been something that bad. So much for that.

It's the second part that gets him the most. Killing kids is more than terrible enough, but making the others watch? That's a special kind of twisted.]

...Damn. [It's a lighter word than he wants to use, but the feelings behind it are heavy enough to make up for that. He's been tempted to punch someone ever since he got here, but now he wants to more than ever.] That's not something anyone should have to watch.

...I'll make sure to watch out what I say. Wasn't gonna bring it up in the first place, but... I'll be careful.
