Naoya had done fairly well with keeping his Spiritomb well-fed and in shape. The creature had started to win more and more fights, and Naoya had grown more and more confident with it. He hadn't seen any Pokemon worth adding to his collection yet, but the two of them seemed more than capable of taking on whatever faced them. And it wasn't as if camping was something he hadn't done before, even in the snow, though he'd taken to wearing his extra set of clothing on top of his normal clothes, adding the haori afterwards.

But now Naoya sat in the Cherrygrove Pokemon Center, waiting for Atsuro. He'd told his student he was here, his Spiritomb out to watch the people. Or was it 'former student' now? The boy certainly had grown, and he was sure that he'd find out just how much soon.

"Interesting. That seems like an... odd type pairing to have, so he sounds very useful."

He nods a bit at the next part, too.

"I'm sure I can find a lot of people here who know... and probably a lot of literature here, too. It seems like the sort of thing that a lot of people would write about in this world, doesn't it?"

"Yeah. I think the Chinchou line is the only water/electric type you can get normally."

There's the Rotom's Wash form, but otherwise...

Atsuro nodded.

"Right. You'd get a lot of books focusing on Pokemon and their roles in this world's culture and development. Honestly, it's kind of hard finding something without any Pokemon in it, except for scientific and some technological topics."

[crouching_sin]

"Hm."

He shrugs a little. "It doesn't really bother me. This is a different world. People shouldn't expect it to be the same as the world they came from."

[babel_hacker]

"Yeah! I find that fun and interesting. There's some Pokemon specific things here, like a starter appreciation day. And you get some familiar things like celebrating the winter holidays."

[crouching_sin]

"Well that's good. Though I've never really liked Christmas, so I'm glad to have missed it."

The candy's nice, but... eh. Especially since it's for lovers in Japan and that's not really his style.

"... Though Valentine's is coming up, isn't it?" Shit. Oh well. At least he doesn't have to deal with girls from school trying to give him candy here.

Atsuro paused at that reminder.

"...Yeah, that's next month." He shrugged. "I think this place takes a more western approach to Valentine's. So guys can get chocolates for people."

There's no one he's romantically interested in at the moment. And his crush on Yuzu have long since faded.

"I see. I don't need anything, just so you know. ... Though if this place has particularly good chocolate, I might see if I can find it."

Look sweets are important, okay?

"The bigger cities are Goldenrod and Celadon, so you'd have better luck finding a bigger selection in their department stores."

Yes, sweets are important.

"I assume I'll get there eventually. Travel does seem to take a while here, considering that I haven't seen any cars..."

Which is odd, but... maybe with how many Pokemon people seem to have they could just ride them.

[babel_hacker]

"Right. Unless you have a bike, a Pokemon to ride on or a Fly-user, you have to travel on foot around here. The biggest major transportation is the train between Goldenrod in Johto to Saffron in the Kanto region."

Atsuro almost paused.

"Oh, speaking of that! Since you're a breeder, that means I can lend you my HMs and you can use them outside of battle. That includes the Fly HM."

[crouching_sin]

"... Interesting. I'll have to get something capable of using that soon, since I've seen a lot of small birds."

... Wait.

"... Can small Pokemon even carry that much weight?"

[babel_hacker]

"...Well, I haven't try that, but I guess they can?"

The mental image of Naoya being carried by a flock of Pidgeys is on his mind. Heh.

"My main fliers are all big enough to carry me, so I never use my smaller fliers for travel."

[crouching_sin]

"... I suppose I'll have to see what they can do. Though I might want to at least try getting a few more Pokemon first."

His team is kind of... small. So. Yeah.

"Yeah. Everyone's team starts off all and build up from there."

Atsuro smiles.

"I'm eager to see what kind of Pokemon you'll eventually get and use."

[crouching_sin]

"And I'm interested to see what sort of things these creatures can do. I know demons fairly well, but I somewhat missed the Pokemon craze."

He kind of had other things to work on at the time, anyway.
