respect mah gothorita
Who: Valmont (
whitehairedprettyboy) and Dist (
ortion)
Where: Goldenrod Rocket base
When: 1/27
Summary: Valmont actually tries training his Pokémon, for once. Dist takes notice.
Rating: PG at the highest.
Log:
[ Valmont does not like the Rocket base.
Primarily, this is because whenever he's there, he has to wear the uniform. Oh, it's better than a dress, he supposes, but only marginally. He also doesn't like the constant reminder that he's only a grunt in this organization. Oh, the Dark Hand might have completely fallen apart by the time Shendu was done with it, but at least he still had underlings, damn it! Being on the bottom rung does not sit well with him at all.
But if one thing supersedes all that, it's his greed for money. And for that he needs to train his Gothorita, and it's too cold to do so outside, and Raikov would kill him if he wrecked the apartment. So here he is, in the training arena, pulling at his uniform's stupid turtleneck and hoping as few people see him as possible.
"Training", in this case, mostly means "sitting back and letting Gothorita tire himself out", but occasionally he does see fit to toss out a command. ]
All right, use that - that technique where you emit a psychic beam, or whatever that one is.
[ Psybeam, V. It's called Psybeam.
Gothorita happily launches one at a training dummy, and Valmont leans back, sighing. This had all better be worth it. ]

When he arrives, he's as usual accompanied by his faithful starter, Rosamund. He's dressed pretty casually for a Rocket member—a red dress shirt and yellow tie with black slacks, his labcoat currently draped on his arm—but that's a slight perk of being in the Science Department. Plus he's a Division Head, clearly he can do what he wants.
He hears a voice when he enters, and it's a familiar one at that. One he's heard quite recently. He cranes his neck in the direction of the voice and can't help but smirk when he confirms his suspicions. He makes note of the Pokemon the man is training and the orders being given.]
It's Psybeam, for future reference.
[He approaches the two, watching the Gothorita do its thing. It's a pretty solid Pokemon to own- after all, he has one himself. Not long after, he looks down at Valmont, that smirk having never left his expression.]
I thought I had seen you here at least once. Enjoying yourself?
[Apparently greetings aren't happening for him yet... Regardless, hello Valmont.]

[ His face doesn't brighten, exactly, at seeing Dist, but he does look a fair bit less bored than he was a minute ago. This man is one of only three people he's met here that he actually likes, and talking to him should be, if nothing else, more interesting than this. ]
Mr. Dist, wasn't it? So you are a member of this organization after all. I had wondered.
[ And apparently a high enough-ranking one that he doesn't need to wear this ugly uniform with the stupid R on the front. Damn him. Well, no, that's not quite fair. Damn Team Rocket. ]
No, I am not particularly enjoying myself, as it happens. This training business is incredibly tedious.
[ In the background, Gothorita fires off another Psybeam. ]

[Seriously Valmont, barely anyone understands the importance of class.
He raises a hand to his chin as he ponders Valmont's reaction to training.]
Is that so? Is it because you find it difficult to command your Pokemon, or something else?
[Because there's always a way to make it interesting! You just need to know what you're doing.]

[ Excuse him while he preens for a bit. Yes, Dist, he is classy as hell, and thank you for noticing. Even in these Rocket rags. ]
Of course I don't find it difficult to control! [ He bristles at the aspersion. How dare you imply that he might not be perfect at something? ] It's just... dreadfully boring, isn't it? Use this attack, use that attack, and repeat. At least when it's fighting other creatures you get the pleasure of seeing the silly things collapse. In here there's simply nothing to do but wait for it to get stronger.
[ Valmont and the phrase "know what you're doing" rarely go together. ]

[Also calm down because while Valmont may be classy, Dist is also several ranks above him and he's not going to take any sass from a Grunt.
That aside though,]
Then fight other Pokemon. There are plenty of other trainers here- battle them. Alternatively, have your Pokemon battle each other.
What are you hoping to accomplish today?
[He came here to train anyway, so...may as well offer his services.]
no subject
[ Yes he was. ]
If I could find anyone in here to battle, I'd be doing so. And I did have it train against my others, for a while, but it seems to have quite outpaced them. The skunk in particular doesn't last a minute against it anymore.
[ That's because the skunk is level 8, V. ]
Today? Well, given that it's apparently close to meeting the criteria, I was hoping it might evolve again. [ He eyes the Pokémon critically. ] Ideally into something a bit less feminine.
no subject
[He says it in a tone that just reeks of judgment. God Valmont, how do you not know something so basic?]
Ah, it's almost a Gothitelle? [He chuckles lightly- oh dear, this is going to be interesting.] I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the entire line is quite feminine. Do you...have some sort of problem with femininity?
