You have no chance to survive

Who: Rocket Grunts, Magma Grunts, and Aqua Grunts! Basically all the Grunts!
Where: The Whirl Islands and Cinnabar Island
When: February 1st
Summary: Pretty much this
Rating: PG-13? It doesn't need to higher than that? Right, guys?
Log:

The orders are pretty simple. Go in. Wipe out the Team Aqua and Magma Grunts. That's it. So there's not going to be any farewell speeches or anything like that from the Admins because they're of the opinion that you guys have totally got this.

And if you don't...

Well, don't worry about that for now.

Instead, just worry about getting to the nearest base and boarding a helicopter. After that, you've got a short (or long, depending on which base you're heading to) ride ahead of you to some islands in the middle of the ocean, inhabited by a bunch of Aqua and Magma Grunts who have no idea this surprise is on the way. So just do what you do best, Rockets!

And as far as the Admins are concerned what you do best should be to win at all costs. Anything less and well, that would just be an embarrassing return to the region for them. And nobody wants that.

Who has two sharks? Oh wait, probably some pirate wannabe. Ugh, this is stupid.

"Close Combat again! Don't let it hit you first!"

Unfortunately, that confusion is going to be Slasher's undoing. When he goes in close for a hit, he accidentally stumbles and smacks himself with his claws. If that wasn't bad enough, he's hit hard by the incoming Sharpedo. He tries to recover from that, but it's pretty futile. Slasher faints!

Rideaux lets out an audible growl of disappointment before he recalls Slasher. He glares over at the Grunt as he rummages for another Pokeball.

"Don't even think this over. You're going to regret all that Taunt and Confusion nonsense."

Finding the right Pokeball, he angrily tosses it toward the Sharpedo like he hopes to hit it with it. Not to catch it of course, but to release his next Pokemon. Rideaux yells out his commands as the Pokemon emerges: a level 90 Doublade.

"Soulcutter and Spiritreaver, Retaliate immediately!"

The two swords, while originally not very in-sync at all (Spiritreaver came out swinging as he usually does...), tense up right away at the sound of their trainer's voice. Oh, he's mad. They don't want to make it worse, so they slide right into action. They float far back opposite of each other, then coming flying into the Sharpedo with amazing speed, slashing into it as they go. If it hits, that Retaliate will be particularly potent because a teammate just fainted.

“What? That was...”

Apparently that was not the type advantage she thought it would be. What. Maybe Team Magma should send some of its Grunts back to the Trainer School in Rustboro. But more importantly than typing failure is the Mystery of the Disappearing Golurk. WHERE DID IT GO?

“Golbat! Find that thing!”

She's worried. She's definitely worried. And Golbat's not really sure how it's supposed to do that, so it's just sort of flapping around, looking for Golurk.

Dist is just going to take the time to let out another evil laugh. It really is great to watch the Grunt and her Pokemon squirm, their efforts completely in vain.

With another dramatic hand gesture, Dist calls out his next order.

"Try as you may, you'll never find him in time! Now!"

Just as quickly as the Golurk disappeared, it reappears right behind the Golbat in a murky and shadowy veil, launching a shadow-covered punch in its direction.

Sharpedo definitely can't take too many of those or even...one more of those at that power for that matter. Wow. The Grunt's actually pretty worried about his chances here, judging from the look on his face, but he's still going to try. After all where would Team Aqua be if they didn't try? Certainly not here in Johto, losing to a bunch of Rockets.

...wait, that was a bad example. ANYWAY MOVING ON FROM THAT.

“Sharpedo, use...Ice Fang?”

He's not even sure what to do here, but that sounds like it might be a good idea. Maybe it'll freeze that stupid sword. Probably not, but maybe!

Because that attack went over well, Rideaux starts to recover a little from his earlier frustration. Apparently he's well enough to throw out another taunt of his own.

"You don't sound very confident. Are you sure that will work?"

Sparpedo does manage to catch one of the swords off guard, and it struggles against its jaws. However, the attack isn't very effective at all and really only serves to be a mild annoyance both for the Doublade and its trainer.

Rideaux manages a smirk though! How good for him.

"Shut it down with Sacred Sword."

Spiritreaver-the sword currently in the clutches of the Sharpedo-rips itself free from its grip and joins with its other half. Now together again, the two swords begin to glow white. Seconds later, they once again make a sweeping slash at the shark in hopes that type advantage takes its toll.

And that punch is enough to knock Golbat out! Well, this isn't looking too good. But she's still going to try because, one Team Magma shouldn't have to retreat in their own base, and two, she's got at least one more Pokemon that she thinks might be able to help out here. It probably won't, but hey, it's worth a try.

“Go, Mightyena!”

It's level 77, but still, this probably won't end well.

“Snarl!”

It sure is snarling, and that sure is an attack that's going to somehow try and cause damage. Maybe it's just too loud?
ortion: (❀ don't need no sass)

[personal profile] ortion 2015-02-08 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
There's really no way to dodge that Snarl since it's ringing through the entire hallway. Even Dist covers his ears! The attack is super effective to Kaiser Dist G, being part Ghost type, so it actually does stagger. Apparently even sentient golems have ears to hear with too.

Dist notices this, and immediately orders another attack. While still covering his ears.

"Rrrgh, shut that mutt up with Hammer Arm!"

The good thing about Golurk, at least one of many to Dist, is that it can deal with its weaknesses. Hammer Arm is a great example. Once it's regained its footing, one of its arms begins to glow white. It swings with a mighty force, attempting to slam the entire arm down on the poor Mightyena.

"If you think that, you're in for a shock!" said Cynthia with a fistpump. That... yeah, okay, Thunderhoof gets hit by it, and between that, the recoil, and being poisoned she's a little worse for wear.

Nevertheless, she isn't flinching, so...

"Let's just go with Spark!"

...there's not much distance to close there, but maybe she'll miss?

[And of course, Dist is more than happy to provide answers! After all, he never misses an opportunity to talk about himself and his creations.]

I certainly did! I fit it with fonon technically, something exclusive to my home world. Essentially, it harnessed energy of a specific element to enable flight. I had to make some modifications for it to work in this world of course, but it operates almost exactly same as it did in Auldrant.

John is taken by surprise, never having seen such a pokèmon before. He takes the hit and is looking rather worse for wear, but both Snake and John just seem to get more serious.

Though John might not be an Arbok, it was only because he didn't want to evolve and make their circus act harder to perform. He would be a lot heavier as an Arbok after all and they had enough heavy snakes in their act. While not quite up to level 47, he was in fact level 41, and more than ready to throw at the enemy Camerupt the one of the strongest Poison type moves. Snake silently orders John to use Gunk Shot, pointing at the other pokèmon. John responds quickly throwing....

A bag of garbage?

Well, it seems to actually be rather damaging somehow.

Unfortunately, Sharpedo is not very good at sparring with Doublades or it'd be named Sparpedo, so that Sacred Sword's going to drop it. Which means...uh...the Grunt's got two Pokemon left, and he knows you're not supposed to run from a trainer battle, but he sure is going to make an attempt to deprive Rideaux of a complete victory by turning around and making a break for it...while leaving his Sharpedo behind.

Stop him?
whos_that: (magma grunt - female)

[personal profile] whos_that 2015-02-09 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oh that is...uh...wow.

It's a really good thing Pokemon don't seem to work like people because otherwise Mightyena would probably need a doctor. Or maybe a priest.

Ow.

“It's okay Mightyena!”

It's really not, but...it's a Pokemon battle, that's how these things work.

“Get ready to use your secret weapon!”

And by that, she means Sucker Punch that Golurk in the face the next time it tries something like that.
evilfrenzy: (♟ thought you'd seen the last of me)

Sparpedo is now that Sharpedo's nickname.

Rideaux's in the middle of smirking evilly at his Doublade's success when he notices the Grunt turning tail and bolting out of the corner of his eye. He shifts in that direction, but doesn't yell out. He doesn't want to alert the Grunt of his intentions.

He glances back at the Doublade to get their attention, then nods in the fleeing Grunt's direction. Mere moments later, the Grunt will get to enjoy two swords right in his face, blocking his escape.

"And just where do you think you're going?" Rideaux calls, closing in on the Grunt from the other side. "I don't recall saying this would be over when you ran out of Pokemon."

Of course he assumed he'd win. He's dealing with a mere Grunt, after all.

Let's ignore the fact that he's one himself.

[personal profile] whos_that 2015-02-09 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
She doesn't! Golbat faints!

“Will you quit with that?”

Out comes...a level 36 Camerupt!

“Rock Slide! Better quit while you're ahead or you'll get buried by the full power of Team Magma!”

Oh no, it is in fact apparently contagious. This could be bad.
whos_that: (magma grunt - female)

[personal profile] whos_that 2015-02-09 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
WHERE DID THAT EVEN COME FROM

Wherever mystery garbage came from apparently doesn't matter. What does matter is that it managed to hit and poison Camerupt, which just angers its trainer. Also Camerupt's not happy about being poisoned, but that probably goes without saying.

“Ew, gross! Use Earthquake! Try and shake all that stuff off of you!”

...triggering an earthquake in a volcano lair to get rid of some garbage might be overkill. It might also be a very very bad idea. But that's what's happening this turn!
whos_that: (aqua grunt - male)

Oh wait, he only has one left. I CAN COUNT.

[personal profile] whos_that 2015-02-09 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Crap. This guy's not going to let him bow out gracefully is he? Not that running for your life is graceful anyway.

“Fine then. Let's get it over with.”

And he's throwing his last Pokeball at the Doublade, hoping to...somehow through some sort of stupid ridiculous luck KO it on impact or something. Afterwards a level 22 Carvanha's going to pop out which probably can't do anything here, so that's it. That's basically his last attempt to somehow fix this horrible series of events.

That hit is enough to send Rin down, so he recalls her and runs through his team roster. Great. He doesn't have that many options. Hotaru is probably too weak for this, but Yoshiro is injured...

He sends his Kadabra out again, and sends a mental direction to him to use Recover. Sure, it might be kind of a cheap move, but who cares at this point?

"A secret weapon, eh? We'll see how useful it is against my Kaiser Dist!"

In other words, Dist is pretty much certain whatever a little Grunt has for a secret weapon is sure to be pathetic. He's not worried at all.

"Why don't we just get this over with? Hammer Arm once more!"

The Golurk goes in for another swing at the Mightyena, albeit a little slower than before due to the move's secondary effect on the user.

The great thing about being part Ghost is being able to go transparent at will, and that's exactly what Rideaux's Doublade does once they see that Pokeball coming. It goes right through their body, and they turn to face their new enemy as the...little Carvanha appears.

There's a long bout of silence before Rideaux just laughs.

"Oh, so you weren't out. This is all you have left to save you, then?" He's actually grinning a little bit now as he crosses his arms. "Well, that's pretty sad. But don't worry, I will get this over with."

He nods at his Doublade, and they're more than content to basically mercy kill the thing with another Sacred Sword.
