The orders are pretty simple. Go in. Wipe out the Team Aqua and Magma Grunts. That's it. So there's not going to be any farewell speeches or anything like that from the Admins because they're of the opinion that you guys have totally got this.

And if you don't...

Well, don't worry about that for now.

Instead, just worry about getting to the nearest base and boarding a helicopter. After that, you've got a short (or long, depending on which base you're heading to) ride ahead of you to some islands in the middle of the ocean, inhabited by a bunch of Aqua and Magma Grunts who have no idea this surprise is on the way. So just do what you do best, Rockets!

And as far as the Admins are concerned what you do best should be to win at all costs. Anything less and well, that would just be an embarrassing return to the region for them. And nobody wants that.

TEAM AQUA BASE

If you've been deployed to the Whirl Islands, you have the easier of the two drop offs. The helicopter lands outside one of the cave entrances and each Rocket's been given a map which should, in theory, lead to the Aqua base and not get any of you horribly lost, never to be seen again.

But assuming everybody makes it there in one piece, you'll find yourself at the base! Which isn't really much to write home about, but Team Aqua's Grunts are wandering around the base and definitely ready to deal with any intruders. Especially Rocket intruders who are looking to loot them or try and kick them out. They're not in the mood to deal with any of that today.

(frozen comment) WHAT YOU CAN STEAL

-WAY TOO MANY ESCAPE ROPES (seriously take as many as you want)
-1 Nugget or Rare Candy per Grunt
-1 of these or an Incense per Grunt
-1 Damp Rock per Grunt
-1 scarf per Grunt. They don't do anything, but man do they look cool!
-Various berries
-Various Pokeballs (Mostly of the Poke, Great, and Ultra variety. No Master Ball here, sorry)

Team Aqua, huh? Well, there's an easy solution for that. Micchy's got one hand on his Kadabra's Pokeball, but he has Aki the Pachirisu on his shoulder. Hopefully they won't run into something too difficult, but you never know.

His first stop though is going to be those computers. He leans over them and tries turning one on as long as no one's around. What are you working on, Team Aqua?

Man, computer duty sucks. There's really nothing to do since October except mess around on them and scroll through Archie's blog for the latest post about how Team Magma is stupid and how Maxie's a giant stupid jerk with a stupid face. So basically, business as usual.

What's not business as usual is some stranger in a Rocket uniform using one of their computers. In fact, how did a Rocket even get in here to begin with?

“Hey you! Get away from that!”

[grapeeater]

He looks up, and Aki chitters, hopping to the ground. Are they going to battle? She could use some exercise!

"No. This base and everything in it is now property of Team Rocket. Leave, or be forcefully ejected from our base."

It's not as convincing when he's not in armor... or backed up by anyone... but with his Pokemon he should be able to take care of them. That's why he volunteered for this base to begin with. Type advantages would not be kind to him with Team Magma.

“Your base?!”

Who the heck does this guy think he is? She'll reach for a Pokeball and bring out one of her level 41 Golbats. It sure is at a disadvantage against the Pachirisu on his shoulder, but she figures she's got this one in the bag anyway.

“Yeah, right. You Rocket dorks couldn't kick us out if you tried. This base is Team Aqua's and the only one getting ejected from here is you!”

[While Emmy has found she doesn't really enjoy most of what Team Rocket tends to do (which came as no real surprise, honestly...), as soon as she'd found out the details of this particular mission, she signed up right away. Dealing with those idiot teams from earlier? That sounded far more like a pleasure, rather than work!

So after zipping down from the helicopter, she dashed into the base, keeping up a quick pace while looking around. It doesn't seem all that impressive...]

The Rocket base is a lot nicer than this...it smells so salty in here...

[Well, regardless, she's here to do a job, so do it she shall! After testing one of those warp panels, Emmy has found herself in a boring room with nothing more than a door and some crates. How boring - she wants someone to fight! Time to nip out through that door, then!

Surely that will end well, and not be a bad idea!]

[Oh of course that won't be a bad idea, it's not like anyone's coming down that hallway to be rammed into or anything!

...Oh wait.

Archer stumbles at that but he manages to remain on his feet.]

Watch where you're going! All of these Grunts are incompetent...

[The last part is said to the Alakazam following him. She's not the usual Alakazam he brings everywhere since she looks bored as hell as opposed to amused at Archer's suffering. Because this is clearly suffering.]

[Not for the first time, Emmy is rather glad that she's wearing the men's uniform, since that collision sent her tumbling onto her back with an annoyed (and pained - this floor is hard!) cry.

...look, it's hard being this short, alright?

Needless to say, it's also managed to knock her cap off, sending her hair flying everywhere. So much for her disguise...

Angrily grabbing at it, Emmy turns to face her assailant, unable to bite her temper back.]

[First things first, clearly he has to critique Emmy's choice in clothes.]

Stealth is not really Ilya's forte, and she's not even bothering to use it here. Riding into the base on the back of her loyal Metagross, she casually lets her eyes flick over to see if there's anything worth taking with her as she makes her way through, each step kicking up quite a bit of racket.

Which is just how she wants it. Whether she attracts the attention of her fellow Rockets or Team Aqua, what she wants to do is get this over with as quickly as possible and get back to her friends. Preferably before they become suspicious.

But no one says she can't have some fun first. Gesturing at Talos to go faster, she snickers to herself as her Pokemon's heavy footsteps echo down the hallways...

There's usually a fair amount of noise in the base, because otherwise it's quiet and boring, so more isn't really too out of the ordinary. But what is out of the ordinary is this weird metal stomping noise. None of the Grunts here have any sort of steel Pokemon, so that really shouldn't be something this Grunt is hearing right now.

So she'll just step out into the hall and...

“What is that doing here?!”

Okay, she was probably supposed to say something threatening, but she wasn't expecting to see a giant metal crab tank stomping through the hall. That's definitely not an everyday sight here.

The second she hears that incredulous voice, Ilya turns a pair of gleeful, malevolent eyes on the hapless grunt. She stands tall (well, as tall as she can get) on the back of her loyal Pokemon and grins widely under the brim of her rocket hat.

"Invading, of course." She answers coolly, pulling out a pokeball. "Typhon, deal with her!"

The ball pops open to reveal a roaring Garchomp, who stares down at the grunt with a wide open mouth showing off her sharp teeth, and a pair of narrowed eyes. She doesn't charge immediately, but the guard better get her own Pokemon out quick...

So as some observers might have noticed, a lot of the Grunts here don't really have the Pokemon capable of repelling the intruders. And this Grunt's not an exception. So her eyes widen when she sees that Garchomp, because wow, no. She's not in any position to deal with the rampaging crab tank or Garchomp and it's sharp scary...like everything basically. And the turbine head things. Comparing Garchomp to something is hard.

So she's going to turn and start running yelling for backup or someone or something. Seriously, where's the boss with his Kyogre when you need him?

Odds are nobody's going to come help out since right now everyone else is busy, but it might be a good idea to cut off her attempts to draw attention to what's going on.

[At last, all of those months of casing the security systems of jewelry stores in Goldenrod City to keep her skills honed are finally coming in handy! When Parker lands at the cave outside the Aqua Base, her natural first inclination is to check both her gear and the layout of things, looking for structural advantages that she might be able to put to her use — air vents, service corridors, particularly large sewer systems.

(The first thing she actually does, upon a moment of reflection, is to check and see who's here with her; this is a team setting, that's right, and she has both people to watch out for and people to support her now. Right.)

That said, being here at the base like this on Rocket orders isn't...quite sitting right with her, somehow. Of course she was at Tohjo on Halloween, and of course she remembers that Team Aqua had just as much to do with possibly ending the world as anyone else did, but even so...

It's...weird, right? Going after bad guys on a bad guy's orders? It's just...weird, somehow.

Maybe it'd be better to take this one slowly and see what it's all about first, before rushing right in to attack things like the organization wants.]

[It's just like back home. Except in all the ways it isn't even a little like back home. Still, going on a mission with Parker there... That's familiar and he trusts it. It's at least something to hold onto. Hell, having a set task helps in its own way, too.

Even if he doesn't like it very much. It's just been too long since he's worked for bad people and it doesn't feel right anymore. But that's something he'll sort through later. Now's not the time for that.

For now, he's sticking close to Parker. Better figure out a battle plan first.]

What do you know about these guys?

[Ah, yes, good. Being on a mission with Eliot is vastly preferable to being on a mission without Eliot; it's no wonder she gravitates right over to him, herself.]

Not a whole lot. We ran into them last Halloween, there was this big battle between blue guys and red guys. These ones are the blue guys, their boss brought a big whale thing up into the mountains and it was shooting at a big Godzilla thing.

[Which makes perfect sense.]

They're gonna try to fight with watery Pokemon, I think. Fish and sharks and stuff.

[Well. Then.]

...Bad guys, fish, they dress in blue. Got it.

[He got the important bits, at least. And of course they're going to use sharks. Because why wouldn't they.]

So okay, they carry around sharks. They any threat themselves?

[Well, at the...very least the Team Aqua grunts aren't the only ones really not wanting the Rocket intruders to be here?

No, really, Ishimaru isn't entirely sure why he's here; he'd come because it was a good idea at the time, because promotions were probably something he should want to seek if he wanted to be at all useful in working against Team Rocket eventually, be...cause....

He's really not comfortable with this, and he'll be trying to re-affirm himself as he goes because man.

That said, though, several of the storage cases have his attention; he isn't going to loot them, but it might be worthwhile to see what-

...wow, that's a lot of Escape Ropes. Okay then. Um. Sure.

[Well, Ishimaru might not be planning to loot anything here, but that doesn't mean other grunts aren't planning on it. At least, that seems to be what's happening as someone steps around the corner, and he could have very well been mistaken for an Aqua grunt if you looked too fast. But he isn't, and is in fact heading over to look in one of the cases himself not far away.

He's being followed closely by a Xatu who just seems interested in keeping up, while the Abra perched on his shoulder wastes no time climbing down his arm into the box, pulling out items and trying to hand them to his trainer.

But instead he just shakes his head and gestures for the Pokemon to leave the bulk of the stuff where it is.]

Come on. We don't need it.

[Though he doesn't stop the Abra from pulling out one of the ropes, because goodness knows he could have used fifty after being stuck in a cave for the past week. They...surely won't miss one rope because good Lord.

He stops when he spots Ishimaru standing nearby, probably watching him for a moment too long before actually saying anything. When he does it's quiet, but pointed.]

Have you seen anyone come through here?

[For what it's worth, Ishimaru doesn't seem to mind; he's dealt with Kirigiri way too long to be thrown by something like owlish staring and too many elipses.]

Not at all - I imagine that won't last for very long, but I haven't been hindered by anyone yet.

[If the Rocket admins wanted enthusiastic Grunts for this mission, they've certainly got one in Rideaux. He's been on the lookout for opportunities to expand his Rocket resume in hopes of climbing the ranks, plus he gets to put Grunts from one of those other idiotic teams in their place for the second time. Yeah, he is all for this.

What do you mean he's a doctor and should be focusing on the injured? He ain't got time for that today!

Accompanied by his faithful (though not nearly as enthusiastic) Rocket starter, Slasher the Zangoose, Rideaux makes his way further into the base, pretty much seeking out Grunts to take on rather than taking the stealthy route. He doesn't feel like he has anything to fear, even if he has to take multiple Grunts on. From his experience, they're nothing compared to him.

He may have made an inaccurate assumption there, but that's Rideaux for you.]

Looking for a Grunt, Rideaux? That's no problem. There's one right here waiting for you. And he's totally going to bring out his LEVEL 100 SHARPEDO once he sees that Zangoose. Apparently this guy has way too much time on his hands.

“I don't know what you guys think you're doing here, but it stops now! Aqua Jet!”

Sharpedo sure is rushing down the hall at Zangoose.

Level 100? Bring it. Against Slasher, they're evenly matched. While crushing weaklings to a pulp is fun and all, there's something refreshing about a challenge for once.

Rideaux and Slasher don't bother slowing down from their running pace as that Sharpedo shoots at them. He gives a quick nod in Slasher's direction, and before the shark can barrel into both of them, Rideaux splits up to the side while Slasher faces it head-on.

"Close Combat!"

Slasher uses all of his momentum to deliver a powerful punch right into the shark's snout, his sharp claws digging at its skin.

In the meantime, Rideaux skids to a halt, now between the Grunt and the battling Pokemon. He can't help but smirk as he turns to face the Grunt.

"Isn't it obvious? We're taking what is rightfully ours. That means cleaning up the mess inside."
