[It's in a little wooded area a short distance away from their Inn that Nagisa decides to try some training on his own, still intent on taking on the challenge of attaining his first gym badge, but for some reason after a few minutes he loses his focus and just ends up watching his Dedenne chase his Vivillon around. The two appear to be having a lot of fun, but Nagisa doesn't.

No, he just sits at the base of a tree, watching with a face that looks like Rei just scolded him. But Rei is nowhere to be seen. He hasn't spoken to him since that morning, and they didn't get into anything remotely like an argument. And yet, he happens to be angry at him. Just for reasons that he's keeping to himself.

Really childish reasons.]

[Oddly enough, Rei was at work. He's in need of training, though he thinks he's at an optimal level for challenging the gym leaders once Nagisa was prepared. But for now, after the long day of work, he's prepared to take it easy. Probably do some light studying, take his pokemon for a walk, chat a little with Momotarou and Nagisa.

When he completes his shift though, he doesn't expect to see his blonde buddy sitting by a tree on his own. Curiosity gets the better of him, and he makes a beeline over, holding up a hand.]

Nagisa-kun!

[He's so busy pouting and looking at basically nothing that Rei's voice catches Nagisa off-guard, and he almost falls over in surprise. Thankfully a quick hand on the ground keeps him upright, though when he looks over to the left and sees Rei heading toward him, he's not sure of what to do.

Hesitation only lasts for a split second though, and Nagisa forces himself to smile widely and raise his hand in response, trying to look as normal as possible.]

Ah, Rei-chan! Welcome ba--

[What he also doesn't anticipate is that his Dedenne is capable of running very fast, and the tiny electric mouse makes a dashing run and leap toward Rei. Apparently it wants to say hi first.]

[He must have startled him; that's not too hard to do when Nagisa's not paying attention, but for him to look so serous concerns him. What exactly was he thinking about that had him focused so hard? He'll ask, once he gets closer. But he doesn't expect the frolicking Dedenne to make a pounce at him first, and reacts only in the nick of time--reaching his hands out to catch the little mouse pokemon.]

Hello! Are you having fun today?

Nene~! [Of course that's the only answer Rei can get, seeing as Pokemon can't talk. But the way Dedenne snuggles into his chest and wiggles its ears around, it seems to be in a good mood. Nagisa however is very insulted by this sight.]

That's not fair! Chuchu, I wanted a hug first! [His Dedenne sure is sneaky. Rushing up to his feet, Nagisa runs on over and practically tackles his way into Rei, wrapping his arms around him and thus engulfing him and his own Pokemon in a big hug. Eventually his Vivillon catches up with them all but just decides to flutter around them, unwilling to get caught up in the cuddle pile. Rei is basically surrounded by a bunch of happy yellows.]

/DOESN'T DROP THE DEDENNE

[Rei can only smile more as the pokemon snuggles in closely, using one hand to pet it as Nagisa gets up. It doesn't last for too long, as he finds himself soon wrapped up in Nagisa's embrace; it's actually pretty amusing, and he finds himself laughing softly.]

What's got you in such a good mood all of a sudden?

What are you talking about? I'm always in a good mood! [That is of course a complete and utter bluff, but it's what Nagisa is good at. Nagisa doesn't feel like pulling away from Rei just yet, but he doesn't want to accidentally squish his Dedenne more with all this hugging going on and so he backs away. Thankfully his Vivillon lands right atop his head and decides to give him some company.]

Hey Rei-chan, do you wanna have a battle today? I feel like I got a lot of progress done with training! I'll totally beat you!

Normally, yes! I just thought... Ah, nevermind. [If you say so, Nagisa. Well, perhaps his friend was just thinking about something strange then, given how upbeat he seems now. Nagisa normally is in pleasant spirits, so he opts to not question it further.

As he resumes petting the small Dedenne without the added squishing, he looks up in mild surprise. Well, he hadn't wanted to, but he knows he should.]

I guess we'll see, if I let you beat me.

[Whatever was on Rei's mind totally doesn't matter, especially now that Nagisa is totally fired up for a battle. He's been trying hard to level up his Pokemon as was instructed of him in his last announcement over the network, and while battling wild Pokemon helps, fighting other trainers helps far better.]

Don't be so confident Rei-chan, just you wait until we start. We're gonna kick your butt! Right, Chuchu?!

[Except as he looks at his tiny Pokemon for reassurement, all he sees is him blissfully cuddling into Rei's arms. You can't blame it though. It's basically a tiny mouse Pokemon form of its owner. This is unacceptable to Nagisa though, as he points at his Dedenne in a huff.]

Chuchu, stop that! You're conspiring with the enemy right now!

I'm sure my strategies have reached ultimate perfection at this rate, Nagisa-kun. I myself have also been preparing!

[And with that, he beams a little. It'll be hard, battling with this little creature snuggled up in his arms, though; and Rei merely laughs.]

This certainly is a manipulative way to win a battle, isn't it? Perhaps if I feed him as well. [Usually food gets Nagisa on his side too, doesn't it? Like pokemon, like trainer.] I don't think he'll wish to go so soon.

[Don't pamper his Pokemon you jerk, especially in front of him. Nagisa's feeling a little inkling of jealousy even though he thinks it's super cute to see Rei get along with his Pokemon. It's a win-lose situation here, but he looks very off-putt for now as he crosses his arms.]

Those sorts of rewards are only meant for actual winners. [Though this does sound like a strategy he would use... but not today. He wants to battle Rei fair and square!!]

Now stop with all the cuddling, we have serious business to get to! Rei-chaaan, come oooon!

[He can't help it, he's less eerie than the bug-type! But so long as Nagisa's will to battle is high, petting his pokemon isn't the fair alternative.] Alright, alright.

[Rubbing a hand under the Dedenne's chin once more, he holds the little pokemon up.] Alright, you have to be good for your trainer now. [And with a little pout mimicking Nagisa's, he says:] Serious business!

[Then, taking a step closer, he holds the little pokemon out.] Here you are, Nagisa.
