Who: Levi (
corporal) & Petra (
scoutingangel)
Where: Goldenrod
When: 3.8
Summary: levi has been sick and now he's a vibrating pocketful of rage in human form
Rating: PG-13 for Levi's filthy mouth, let's be real.
Log:
Levi had been battling a cold for what felt like forever; his displeasure with the situation and his own impotence in his sickness did nothing to soothe his usual demeanor. He was currently seated in a large chair, covered in a thick blanket that had been dropped onto him by an endearing combined effort of Purrloin and Espurr -- were Levi entirely in his conscious mind, he'd have been impressed that Espurr seemed to have begun to care about him in some way. Maybe. If he was being attentive.
Initially, Levi'd made an effort to shoo Petra away in his determination to avoid making her sick as well -- he found himself berating his choice in his own mind soon enough, given that he knew Petra to be much more strong-willed than that and he should have expected her attention regardless of illness. He wanted immensely to grumble about that fact while he sank slightly into the large chair and knit his brow in mounting dissatisfaction. His body was slowly finding itself being absorbed by the blankets; it would almost be cute with his stature, but his expression of absolute disgust with his cold was enough to deter the notion. He wondered, briefly, if he could mutiny against his own body and somehow speed this process up -- then he was groaning with the realization that his thoughts were becoming more and more delirious.
This was awful. It was awful, and endless, and while he very much wanted to behave as though his only satisfaction would come from complete loneliness, he couldn't help but be thankful for Petra's presence -- a huff escaping his lips as he glanced around to see if he could catch sight of her.

Hahahaha... haaa, shooing Petra away? That was a good one, Levi -- it's not like she didn't appreciate the effort. Too bad it was never going to work! Or well, sure, direct orders from the corporal always worked, but this was still the girl, who devoted her whole life to him. Then she devoted this life to him too and she was always going to feel bad for leaving the squad so soon back home -- so guess what, Levi? Petra wasn't going to leave you alone here, where she was still able to make both of their lives less lonely by being his friend. In fact she even always tried to run all the errands on the way back from work, so she was there with him as much as possible instead running in and out of the house.
Sure, she went away to another room when he told her to go, but she didn't stay there for too long. Just enough to get bored for a while because she had nothing else to do before deciding, that she was going to clean up that room again to have
an excusea reason to be there. Never mind that the room was crystal clean because she was keeping everything that way and she had cleaned it not long ago -- b-but people had a weird sense of time, when they were sick, right? No, Levi was most likely going to notice it anyway, even if this really felt like it had gone on forever. But what if corporal Levi was sleeping? Petra didn't want to wake the man up whenever he got some sleep, so she sneaked into the room and closer to him to check if he was awake. Her heart skipped a beat as soon as he huffed and it stopped the girl in her tracks and maybe, just possibly, there was some internal screaming too. She kind of wasn't following his orders right now as by them she was supposed to be elsewhere, but here she was. Maybe the huff wasn't even meant for her? Maybe. Well anyway, Petra was still looking at Levi when he glanced around. So he was awake, at least that was clear now. Wait, it didn't explain why she was sneaking here... Ummm, she really should say something, shouldn't she? Why did her head feel like it was full of air all of a sudden? "Corporal, do you need something? Anything?"
Nailed it.

Thankfully, he was actually quite glad to see Petra—or hear her, rather, since that was the first thing he managed. He was lifting his head just vaguely out of the top of the blankets when he heard her voice and the first words that he wanted to say were going to be rather accusing—but he settled down a bit once he saw her. Yeah, no, he couldn't be mad at her for doting on him, even if he tried.
The darkness under his eyes seemed two-fold in comparison to its usual intensity as he let out a noise like a groan; a very short one, however, cut off to try to maintain his image for even a brief second. "Tea," he answered finally. "Black tea."

Petra was actually really amused to see him in the middle of all those blankets but she managed to keep a poker face here. Laughing at his current misery would have been bad, she respected him too much to do that but yes, he was an amusing sight and yet at the same time he was also not at all amusing sight there.
Could you be mad at her worried face, Levi? No, at least she hoped not while she waited patiently for his reply. His eyes looked kind of like he didn't need any company but well, she was going to be here anyway unless he was directly going to order her to leave again. Not like she had ever cared if he was the worst company for -- well, anyone by being the usual Levi, or if that sickness made it even worse. She was used to him being like he was and she just needed to help him kick that sickness out of him somehow.
Huh, tea? She woke up from her thoughts right after the word, taking a second or two to remember her own question to him. Black tea. Petra flashed him a sheepish smile. "Okay, I'll be right back with it."
The girl disappeared to the kitchen right after that, spent a moment there making sure it wasn't going to be too hot to drink before she returned to
the pile of blanketsLevi with a cup of black tea and reached out a hand to give it to him as soon as she was right next to him. No need to keep distance when he had asked for that tea. "Here, corporal."no subject
An arm reached out from the haphazard pile of blankets to reach for the cup of tea and a short, nearly-pathetic sound of affirmation came out of the back of Levi's throat as he did. It seemed as though he were pausing to consider human decency for a moment—letting his displeased gaze concentrate on the steam dancing from his teacup. "Thank you," he said eventually, turning his eyes from his tea and meeting Petra's own.
He didn't smile, of course; although he would have tried, perhaps, were he not so ill. There was a momentary tug of the muscles at the corner of his mouth as though his brain had tried to put forth a decent effort to smile, though unfortunately it escaped his face as an awkward grimace. Then, as though in secondary thought, Levi spoke again. "...I don't want to get you sick," he muttered suddenly.

She was patient and just made sure he didn't drop it or anything, that would have just made it worse. When he paused to think about something, Petra tilted her head to one side. Hm? The girl wasn't really expecting anything from Levi for it, that was just tea and she sure didn't mind making it for him as often as he wanted to drink it. She was looking at the steam too, then she was looking at Levi, then back at the cup and then back at Levi -- just when he was looking at her too. His words, simple or not, made her smile. "You're welcome, corporal."
Petra was smiling for both of them and she didn't really mind if Levi couldn't even do that right now. She could imagine it? Or well, she was all too happy just to hear him speak to her and that he was still here. Though she was still looking at him and his face and she wasn't really sure what that face was trying to be but he was trying to do something, when he could have just sat there and not try. Cute. Not that Petra was going to admit to Levi, that she found his current efforts cute. He spoke again and Petra was so surprised by those words and everything else, that it took her a moment to realize what dear captain just said. After a moment of surprised staring, she closed her eyes and gave a little laugh at him. "Then it's good, that I absolute refuse to get sick too. So please don't worry about it, corporal." Yes, it was going to work just like that and with lots of other ways too to avoid it, though her face went just a little serious after that. "...But I don't want to leave you alone either, so ..." Can she stay?
