Come morning light
Who: Lightning and Serah
failnought AND Steven
cookiecats
Where: Pallet Town
When: May 6th, Early morning
Summary: Sisters seeing each other again after a long, long, long time. And forgetting a kid on the ferry. OOPS.
Rating: PG-13 (mentions of death, etc.)
Log:
This was it. Lightning had been up for hours now, pacing her room till the sun rose. She had checked and double checked the time when the ferry would get here. As soon as the time came for it to arrive, she was out the door. Her only Pokémon awake at the time was been Anima, her Noivern, who happily followed her trainer through the air.
Lightning was the first person at the dock other than the workers. She hardly noticed Anima landing beside her till she was nuzzled. Anima was always able to tell when her trainer needed comfort. She makes an almost purring sound when Light rewards her nuzzle with a pat on the head. Anima could still feel the tension and turned her eyes to the same contraption that had brought them here. She didn't like it, so she hisses at it.
Anima's hiss was barely heard by Lightning. Her breath quickened and her eyes were wide. If Serah was truly here, and not just some dream, she'd be coming off that boat as soon as she could. She'd be here. With Lightning. Not dead. Not gone. Here. This was all that Lightning had wanted for so long. Just her sister.
Now if only that boat would dock quicker.

Serah has paced a lot these past three days.
"Arriving in Pallet Town," says a voice over the intercom. Serah's heart jumps in her throat. As she packs up her things, her hands shake. Snow perches on her shoulder, concerned. Serah lets out a shaky breath and walks, as calmly as she can, out and to the exit. She's the first one there. This morning's breakfast was delicious, but she feels a little queasy. Serah knows there's a lot Lightning hasn't told her. Serah also knows a lot of it isn't sunshine and rainbows. Nothing rarely is, for them.
The door opens. Serah steps out and onto the dock. Her eyes scan the area. And then... her breath catches. If her bag wasn't secured over her shoulder, she'd have dropped it.
"Lightning," she breathes. It's really her. She's here, really here, and Serah's running to her sister. Without a word, she throws her arms around Lightning and hugs her tight. Lightning still smells the same, feels the same, even if she's been hardened by all she's seen and done.
"You're really here," Serah says. Her voice sounds so small. "It's really you. I'm not dreaming this time."

"Please don't be a dream..." she said softly under her breath as she watched the doors to the boat opening.
The first person out was the one she had been waiting these three tense days for. That soft pink hair, that smile, that face... If it hadn't been for Anima beside her, Light may have collapsed onto her knees. This was better than a dream. This was really Serah.
As soon as Serah hugged her tight, Light did the same, letting out an unsteady breath. She buried her face in Serah's hair and just held her. "No. We're not dreaming.... We won't be apart again. Not if I can help it."
no subject
"Never again," Serah says, and she lets out a half-sob, half-laugh. With shaky hands, she reaches up to place them against Lightning's cheeks. That moment on Pulse's fields... it had been far too short. This hasn't gone past, they haven't been separated like last time. "I missed you so much, Lightning."
no subject
Light smiles very softly at her sister, moving her own hands up and giving the smaller hands a gentle squeeze. The last time she had seen Serah alive was in the ruined town of New Bhodum, right before she had to face Caius one last time... where was this Serah from that she didn't remember that? Those thoughts can't stop her from smiling. "I missed you, too. How about we go to the room? We can catch up there."
no subject
"Okay," she says, smiling as she kneels down to pick up Snow. The little penguin wiggles, reaching for Lightning. "Lead the way."
no subject
Raising an eyebrow, Lightning pats Snow on the head. "Right." She does lead the way, making sure to stay beside Serah the whole time. As they got closer, there was a commotion ahead as Fia the Fennekin ran over to them at tops speed. Behind Fia was Enki, running as well. Lightning sighed and waited till the last moment before bracing herself to stop Enki. The Meganium let out a squeak as he came to a sudden stop. Light grumbled softly.
"Dammit, Enki. You're not a Chikorita anymore. Stop running at me like this."
no subject
"You sure have some... unique names for your Pokémon, Lightning." She holds out her hand for Enki. "Hi there, big guy."

Light had wanted to name Anima Fang instead, but she had hesitated. She smiles at Serah before nodding and heading inside. "The others are inside. They want to meet you."
no subject
"Wow, she's so cute! And so warm. She's a fire type, then?" Fia gets a little scritch under the neck. Snow's checking her out, too, and Serah moves him a little close. "Fia, meet Snow. I hope you two will be great friends."
And she's following Lightning in. The inn is small, but nice and comfortable. She could definitely get used to this, and this is only the second town she's been in. "I can't wait to meet them, too. How many do you have, Lightning?"
no subject
"In total? Eleven Pokémon and three eggs. The eggs are a Pidgey, Eevee, and a Riolu." She opened the door to a nice sized room that could comfortably hold all of the Pokémon and two humans. It had some nice sized windows as well. There was only one bed, but Light figured Serah needed it more than she did. "I'll show you the kitchen. Then the shower. You might need one."
no subject
"Eggs, huh? I had no idea. Just like the sheep, then..." Serah casts a glance around, nodding in approval. It's nothing like their old home, but it's cozy and just the right size for both of them. Noting the one bed, Serah sets her bag down on an empty chair. "Yeah, a shower would be amazing. I haven't had one in a while--I probably smell terrible."
no subject
She let's out a sigh. She had enough of fuzzy sheep. Lightning shakes her head and opens the bathroom door by nudging it with her foot. Once the door was open, a small, blue snake-like Pokémon came out and looked at Serah. "..... Cerys, what were you doing in there?"
Cerys looked at his trainer next before wrapping himself around one of her legs. ".... Fine. I'll put water in the tub again later."
no subject
"Hi there, Cerys. I'm your trainer's little sister."

"Alright. I'll be back in a flash." She waves at Lightning once more before retreating into the bathroom.

"Alright. Let me turn the gear off."
She places Fia and Snow on the bed, Nora having grabbed the gear and turned it off. She was good at that now.
"Thank you, Nora."
no subject
"Lightning?" A little embarrassed. "I think I forgot to ask about clean clothes."
no subject
When Serah looks at the clothes, the shirt will be a soft pink without sleeves, and a small Skitty outline on the bottom right corner. There's a pink skirt to go with it. Light hopes she still like wearing all that pink.
no subject
"They're perfect, Lightning. Thank you!"
no subject
"What should we do now?"
no subject
When she hears the question, she opens her eyes and looks at Light a bit sternly. "You have a lot to tell me, right?"
Getting right to the point--Serah thinks it's justified.
no subject
Light walks over to the bed and sits down. Fia climbs into her lap and curls up. She could feel her trainers stress. "What do you want to start with?"
no subject
"Well..." There's a lot, Serah thinks, but she starts with the question that's eating at her the most. "What time are you from?"
