You know what's better than a regular birthday? The birthday of a circus.




Throughout the streets of Goldenrod, folks will find all sorts of colorful characters and Pokemon about. Fliers and the like have been regular eve since the Circus started up a year ago, but the advertising is in full force today just to make it EXTRA apparent that today is the day. Another hint is all the air traffic in the skies- various Flying-type Pokemon that make up the Circus' transportation service. Who knows? Maybe you're one of those using it today!

And of course, who can miss the colorful spectacle that is the circus itself? Past the entrance gate (which will let you onto the circus grounds for a miniscule fee) are dozens and dozens of stalls and little tents. Looming over them is the main tent itself, a monstrosity of bright welcoming colors. There are all sorts of things amongst their ranks, but it's generally fairly easy to find what you're looking for as Pidgey of a feather flock together and all that... From games of all sorts like the usual carnival games to more of a retro arcade, to a set of shops with local crafts and maybe something from the foreign trainers.... Of course, there's also all sorts of food stalls and even shacks for more filling stuff.

There's even a Litleo hunt going on today! Catch one, win a prize!

With all that alone, you could probably keep busy for most of the day! But surely you aren't forgetting the Big Act?

Yep, the big acts in the Big Top. Times are posted both at the front gate, on fliers you can pick up here and there, and by the entrance to the large tent. For each day, there will be three shows! Better hope you can snag a ticket before they get sold out... Although maybe you'll get lucky for the next show. Or the next day....

Either way, it promises to be a fun weekend!

A distressing amount of their more bothersome habits seem to involve their mouths. When they aren't trying to get a taste of me, they're being unnecessarily loud.

[After swiping her tongue over Kairi's finger to make sure she got it all, Ilya releases it with a pop and grins, catlike.]

You make the best faces sometimes.

Of course you didn't, that's part of why I did it in the first place. I wanted to see how you'd react. And I must say, you didn't disappoint.

[If it makes Rise feel any better, at least the mess that's been made seems to have successfully trapped one frantic little Litleo who can't get free from her ribbon caught on a piece of the stall.]

[Pretty spot on! There might be a few minor off-details, but it's all pretty good for someone she's only had one glance at.]

Her and Invidia have been workin' together, that's right. Been tough, but they're old hats by now!

[She quickly looks around to make sure no one is around to see any of this.]

I'm glad. I mean, that felt-- I...

[Slowly trying to reprogram herself. Come on, Kairi, use complete sentences.]

You're so not fair.

[Rise gasps and rushes over. She kneels down and gently undoes the ribbon so she can get free.]

You're not hurt, are you?

[Nanako bounces over and pets the Litleo on the head. Sorry about that!]

"You too." Invidia tilts his head to the side, and there's the impression of a tail swishing back and forth even though the illusion is still firmly in place. "Humans need other humans."

[They're quite alone, the nearest people being off a few tables away and involved in their own discussion. Ilya chuckles at her worried glancing about though.]

Maybe you just need to think your actions through a bit more. What did you think I was going to do when you brought a finger full of ice cream at my face?

[She shakes her head, her mind returning to her.]

Guess I'll have to plan my attack better next time.

That gets Invidia a small smile and a nod as Chihiro looks up at him, Isamu leaning against his trainer's side a bit.

"That's true. Joker-san has a lot of friends, doesn't he?"

[shatterings]

... How many of them like to... chew on hair?

[ And other body parts she almost asks, but she would. Rather not think about that. ]

You're a lady?

[Aren't ladies older women?]

[... oh. Well then. And here Yusuke was standing here scowling and rolling his eyes and getting ready to call her a buzzkill. A second passes, during which Yusuke just kind of... looks at her with vague surprise, as if he's only just now seeing her properly for the first time. Then, finally, a smirk spreads across his face, and he shrugs and straightens his back, saying:]

Okay, fine. You want your face rubbed in the dirt that bad, let's go. It's been a while since I've last had a good fight.

[Long enough, in fact, that he's already practically buzzing with adrenaline. He hadn't expected Maka to be this kind of fighter (that is, the kind who'd suggest a brawl out of nowhere), but man, he is not complaining. He turns back towards the counter and barks:]

Hey! Carnie!

[The carnie jumps and peeks over the counter cautiously. The whites of his eyes are showing. Yusuke points at him with the hammer.]

Don't think that just because I'm walkin' away for a minute means you can screw me out of my prize. I'm comin' back for one of those things, so set it aside for me, all right?

[By "one of those things", he means the Entei plushies he just gestured to. Listen, he might not be big on stuffed animals, but there is no way he's gonna win a carnival game and walk out of it empty-handed. At any rate, the carnie nods vigorously, so Yusuke, satisfied that he and the carnie have an understanding, hands the hammer off to the next person waiting in line to give the game a try and turns to face Maka again, cracking his knuckles.]

So? Where to? I'll let you pick the venue, since it's your ass that's gonna get kicked.

Wrath's face lights up, and he wiggle his legs underneath him so that he can crouch on top of the chair instead of sit. This news is too exciting to sit for!

"Really? You're his brothers too?! Does that make US brothers?!"

Ralph looked up to Lust hopefully but her elf eyes could not see Nelly anywhere.

Meanwhile, as the Pidov was trying to unstick its wing from the Swirlix's horrible fluffy body, one of Nelly's ear perked up. That sounded...delicious. The cotton candy pokemon abandoned the grape rock candy and hopped to the edge of the tent flap, dragging that poor pigeon behind her.

"Y'really think that'll work?"

[Dovre... looks pretty dazed. Not hurt, just utterly befuddled and out of it.]

[Just gonna wobble off. Pay the tiny firecat no mind.]

[pipers_son]

"That's because Papa likes seeing people laugh!" Invidia seems very proud of this fact.

Who wouldn't be, after all? Joker's done questionable things before Johto- his main troupe all knows that even if they don't particularly understand the specifics- but he's always been good here. That's what matters to them.

[Blake expects something a lot less confident than that. He may be imagining things, but there's a hint there of somebody who knows how to hit. Carter is suddenly hit by an odd idea: it'd be interesting to see how Dietrich handles himself in a fight.

A low whistle comes from between Blake's teeth.] Not bad.

Jack, on the other hand, couldn't understand why somebody would want a boring job, but Jimmy seemed happy so the ex-skeleton gave him a wide grin.

"That's fantastic!"

[Rise watches her go, then feels victorious! Ribbon acquired. So off she goes to get her prize.]

Rise had watched Snake's act and was both impressed and utterly confused. Only three of those Pokémon were actual snakes. One of them was what her own little Dratini, Kairyu, would evolve into one day. It was still rather impressive to watch.

Since she wants to congratulate him, she's off to go find him, Nanako her Meowstic in tow. When she finds him, she approaches him enough not to be in the striking distance of most of the snakes. "Ah! Snake! That show was amazing~!"
