You know what's better than a regular birthday? The birthday of a circus.




Throughout the streets of Goldenrod, folks will find all sorts of colorful characters and Pokemon about. Fliers and the like have been regular eve since the Circus started up a year ago, but the advertising is in full force today just to make it EXTRA apparent that today is the day. Another hint is all the air traffic in the skies- various Flying-type Pokemon that make up the Circus' transportation service. Who knows? Maybe you're one of those using it today!

And of course, who can miss the colorful spectacle that is the circus itself? Past the entrance gate (which will let you onto the circus grounds for a miniscule fee) are dozens and dozens of stalls and little tents. Looming over them is the main tent itself, a monstrosity of bright welcoming colors. There are all sorts of things amongst their ranks, but it's generally fairly easy to find what you're looking for as Pidgey of a feather flock together and all that... From games of all sorts like the usual carnival games to more of a retro arcade, to a set of shops with local crafts and maybe something from the foreign trainers.... Of course, there's also all sorts of food stalls and even shacks for more filling stuff.

There's even a Litleo hunt going on today! Catch one, win a prize!

With all that alone, you could probably keep busy for most of the day! But surely you aren't forgetting the Big Act?

Yep, the big acts in the Big Top. Times are posted both at the front gate, on fliers you can pick up here and there, and by the entrance to the large tent. For each day, there will be three shows! Better hope you can snag a ticket before they get sold out... Although maybe you'll get lucky for the next show. Or the next day....

Either way, it promises to be a fun weekend!

[Roxas had listened to the song along with the others after having been picked up. All that was really mentioned that stuck with him was the word circus. Oh, and Naminé. He had wanted to stick closer to her, but it was hard with the other girls around. So he had gone off on his own long enough before coming back to hear the singing.

Roxas rubs the back of his neck as his Swablu trilled the notes of the song she had just heard. Should he talk to this girl?]

[Rise wasn't too good at the throwing games. She let Nanako play those as long as her Meowstic promised not to use her psychic powers. Suffice to say that Rise was seriously outmatched by her Pokémon. This doesn't bother her at all. For now...

Nanako looks quite content to be holding a Buneary doll, her prize that she picked out for doing as well as she did. Rise decided that she wanted to try her hand at this game and proceeds to throw a ball.]

Oh no... I missed again! Why is this so hard?

[Rise had no idea how Nanako, her Meowstic, had talked her into trying to catch these little guys. She didn't even know what a Litleo was until she checked her Dex. So here she was, wandering around with Nanako at her side, trying to find one.

She looked down as a silver Eevee pocked his head out of her bag.]

Eh? Jin? Do you want to help?

[Jin nods. So he's let out of the bag to help look for a Litleo.]

It should be easy to spot one!

Chihiro offers Nanako a smile, reaching down to gently pet the top of her head. She's careful to avoid her ears, though. He's learned enough about that from his own Meowstic.

"It's surprising how some Pokemon seem to get along so well, sometimes...even ones you don't think would do."

"Oh, I like those a lot, too. They will keep you nice and warm, for sure. Would you like to buy them? They're only P500."

[aufsassig]

[Oh. Well, now. That's certainly an interesting proposition, isn't it?]

Maybe I do. What're you gonna do if I say yes?

[He waggles his eyebrows to give it the necessary element of light teasing, but on the whole the question is actually a pretty genuine one.]

[samsa]

Oh, "The Black Goat's Egg", no question.

[Because that's not a strange book title at all.]

[OH NO

The poor thing, it almost doesn't seem fair to grab for the ribbon now, what with her all caught up and trapped like that. Which doesn't mean Meridiana's not still going to go for it if and when she gets the chance, but kind-hearted priorities dictate that she really ought to go for the rescue first.]

Oh — do hold still, I'll just be a minute getting you free!

[Is there something she can move to help out here, or...?]

Nanako is very happy about this. She let's out a little chirping mewl before going over to Rise again. "Nanako is... really overprotective sometimes. She doesn't get along with a lot of Pokémon, or people. She adores Jin, and won't leave his side unless I ask her to."

Rise lets out a soft sigh and shakes her head, giving Chihiro a small smile. "You're the first boy she hasn't actively tried to intimidate and get away from me. So I think she likes you. There's one other boy, but at this point, I think she just tolerates him."

That causes Chihiro to blush and glance away, kicking his feet a little over the edge of the seat of the bench. "I see...some Pokemon are just like that, I think. People can be that way, too, but I guess it just isn't as easy to see."

Leaning back while he's still patting Quincey, Joker lets loose a whistle as Zola demonstrates her moves. Snake's always had a charm about him with snakes, and he's not surprised to find that she's flourished with him.

"Beautiful! I know the audience loves ya everytime ya come inta the ring."

[silentscales]

Snake nods again before pulling out his wallet and P500 to give to her. "They're really nice, says Ruskin."

Quincey nudges Joker, only a little bit too hard this time- she seems to be learning her own strength now- and gives him a little inquisitory grumble. She wants some praise too!

Meanwhile Zola pulls a bit of her tail in front of her chest and bows over it.

[shatterings]

I think I might have one of those.

[ She pulls out a poffin from her bag and offers it to Harpy. ]

Here.

Maybe the gore would be replaced by Pokémon battles.

[samsa]

I wouldn't be surprised...it would be far less interesting like that, though.

[What's a horror story without, well, some horror to it?]

[shuttermouse]

Yeah. It probably wouldn't even resemble the original anymore.

[samsa]

I guess some genres wouldn't work as well here. You would be surprised, though; some entries in the Pokedex for certain Pokemon sound like horror stories themselves.

[shuttermouse]

...Go on. [ Now she's curious. She's read some of the 'Dex entries but not all of them. ]

[samsa]

The most recent one I read about was a partial Dark and Ghost-type called Sableye. Have you heard of it?

[shuttermouse]

Yeah. You wrote about it in that post of yours.

[samsa]

I didn't mention one of the entries I found. Apparently, they are thought to have the ability to steal the spirits of people who look directly into their eyes.

That's pretty interesting.

[...well she isn't wrong, it is interesting.]

I would have been skeptical, but...I own a Pokemon that drains energy to keep the flame on its body burning. He doesn't usually do it on purpose, though.

[But he's also woken up...on the floor once or twice, so he had a pretty good idea as to what happened.]
