8th Act - Happy Anniversary, Eve's Garden Circus!

You know what's better than a regular birthday? The birthday of a circus.




Throughout the streets of Goldenrod, folks will find all sorts of colorful characters and Pokemon about. Fliers and the like have been regular eve since the Circus started up a year ago, but the advertising is in full force today just to make it EXTRA apparent that today is the day. Another hint is all the air traffic in the skies- various Flying-type Pokemon that make up the Circus' transportation service. Who knows? Maybe you're one of those using it today!

And of course, who can miss the colorful spectacle that is the circus itself? Past the entrance gate (which will let you onto the circus grounds for a miniscule fee) are dozens and dozens of stalls and little tents. Looming over them is the main tent itself, a monstrosity of bright welcoming colors. There are all sorts of things amongst their ranks, but it's generally fairly easy to find what you're looking for as Pidgey of a feather flock together and all that... From games of all sorts like the usual carnival games to more of a retro arcade, to a set of shops with local crafts and maybe something from the foreign trainers.... Of course, there's also all sorts of food stalls and even shacks for more filling stuff.

There's even a Litleo hunt going on today! Catch one, win a prize!

With all that alone, you could probably keep busy for most of the day! But surely you aren't forgetting the Big Act?

Yep, the big acts in the Big Top. Times are posted both at the front gate, on fliers you can pick up here and there, and by the entrance to the large tent. For each day, there will be three shows! Better hope you can snag a ticket before they get sold out... Although maybe you'll get lucky for the next show. Or the next day....

Either way, it promises to be a fun weekend!

Litleo Hunt!

So.

For those who don't know, Joker does indeed have 20 Litleo. Yeah.

Throughout the weekend, people will be encouraged to find any one of these little things that have been released throughout the circus grounds. Catch one, get the ribbon off of its neck, return it to the appropriate stall, and you'll net yourself a prize! Every Litleo will get you a prize, although they're all different. There's only three, however, which hold very special Grand Prizes.

[ooc: In order to have your character qualify to win a prize, all you have to do is respond to this level with the appropriate journal by the 23rd!

You can do this either by putting "ooc" in the subject title and just saying that your character is looking, or you can do this ICly!

ICly, you can either make it a normal top level for your character, or we can have it be one-on-one with your character and a NPC'd Litleo! Whenever you want a Litleo to make an appearance, just put in your subject title "RELEASE THE HORDE", and I'll jump in.

Prizes will be RNG'd and released on the 23rd!]

[As avowed during an earlier conversation with Joker, here's Meridiana, turned out and determined to get her hands on one of those Litleo. Which...may be a little easier vowed than done, given that she's not at all athletic and long skirts aren't exactly conducive to a lot of running, but she's pretty determined to have at it even so, and is wandering the grounds in the hopes of spotting a particularly docile (or slow) one for a chance at a prize.]

[Turns out that it's a bit easier than Meridiana might think to catch sight of the Litleo horde! Because up ahead, suddenly bursting out from inbetween some of the stalls, are a good half dozen of the little cubs. It's almost like a stampeded as they rush across from one line up of stalls to the next in a chorus of tiny little roars and maybe some hissing and spitting.]

[It happens pretty quick, but lagging behind and stopping in the middle of the path is Ella the Litleo who makes a series of upset noises at her siblings retreating backs. GUYS CALM DOWN ALREADY, GOSH.]

[It doesn't seem like she's noticed Meridiana just yet, however...]

[Oh, good lord. It's strange, really, because from a competitive standpoint the thought process that really ought to be going through her mind is "aha, now there's the one to catch, the one lagging behind", but in reality she really just finds herself feeling a bit sorry for the poor dear.

It's hard being the one too slow and left out of the pack, isn't it?

That said, she's probably slow enough for Meridiana to follow, so she starts moving in closer, carefully staying out of sight range as best she can and waiting for a chance to make a dash.]

[Ella keeps trotting along in vain effort to keep up, but eventually she seems to give a little huff and starts to investigate some areas inbetween the stalls. Looks like she's trying to find a place to squeeze into and nap.]

[Might be a good grab time!]

[occultigen]

[WHAT A CHANCE! She's gotta go for it.

Hitching her skirt a little to make sure it stays well out of her way, she readies herself a minute and then charges to close the distance, bending low to make a grab for that collar.]

[pipers_son]

[Thanks to sharp kitty hearing, the Litleo jerks her head up before realizing what's going on, and tries to make a lunge to get inside the space she was examining. Time to escape!]

[....Or not, because Ella soon realizes that the space between stalls is far too narrow for even her kitty flexibility. She gets stuck halfway through, hindlegs scrabbling before she gives up and starts to make pitiful meows.]

[HELP]

RELEASE THE HORDE

[samsa]

[Kaneki has been spending most of his time slowly exploring the grounds. There's so much to look at after all that he's sure it's going to take a while for him to actually see everything. But while he walks around he's got his Smeargle nearby, who has his eyes peeled for Litleo walking around.]

Don't go too far, okay? Just keep your eyes out for them.

[The Smeargle nods with his ears flopping a little, but...honestly, if he actually does spot one of the lions? He's going to immediately try to chase it down.]

[pipers_son]

[Don't worry, Kaneki. It's not going to be too hard. Because one of those Litleo?]

[Is coming to you.]

[There's a triumphant cry from atop one of the stalls and there stands Biancabella the Litleo posed just right as she stares down at trainer and Smeargle.]

[]

[samsa]

[Both Kaneki and Hide look up in unison, with Hide hopping up and down and tugging on Kaneki's sleeve as if he isn't seeing what he is.]

There's one, up there!

[She's on top of that stall though, and there's no way he's going to try climbing the thing to get to her...so, quickly, he stoops down and scoops up Hide in his arms, lifting him up so he can reach the edge of the top of the stall canopy. He holds him until he gets a grip and can climb up, trying to keep the Litleo in his sights.]

See if you can catch it! ...b-but be careful!

[pipers_son]

[Oh ho, so you're her challenger, huh? BB tosses her head back proudly. Didn't you know, Hide? She's the heroine of this story! You can't beat her!]

[With that declaration given, the Litleo turns away and leaps to another stall. The chase begins!]

[samsa]

[The Smeargle doesn't give his trainer much chance to say or do much else, because as soon as the Litleo is off, so is he. He gets down on all fours to make running easier, jumping over to the next stall to give chase.]

They're fast-!

[Kaneki mutters before taking off at a run himself, rushing down the line of stalls to try to keep up with the two while avoiding running into people at the same time.]

[Dang straight they're fast, Kaneki. BB is a circus cat, she knows how to run and make an unneeded spectacle out of everything with the best of them.]

[She runs to the end of the line of stalls before whirling around on her paws to face Hide. There's a twitch of her tail, she bursts forward.... and then veers off to leap off the top of the stall with the aim focused right on Kaneki's head.]

[SURPRISE, MOTHERFUCKER]

<sub>[Molly has always liked finding stuff. Even before she realized she could find things just by thinking about them and even after that ability was taken from her, she's enjoyed looking for things and visual puzzles and anything like that - and besides, she already told Joker she'd totally win, and she's gonna do it.]

[So she's got her growlithe Ember with her for the company as she's looking around, taking particular care with places that look like hiding places.]</sub>

[pipers_son]

[Eventually, while searching through the shop stalls, Molly will be able to spot up ahead... Is that a tiny little Litleo tail poking out from underneath the cloth sheet of a stall? Maybe it's her lucky day.]

[walkersystem]

<sub>[It's totally her lucky day! Molly gestures at Ember to be silent when she spots the tail, all tiny and cute and twitching a little, and she opts for the quiet sneaking approach ... tiptoeing closer just to make sure, before she takes any further action.]

[Crouching down some distance away, she bends down to see, and then in a moment of inspiration scratches at the ground and makes a little 'ksch ksch' sound to see if the Litleo will come investigate.]</sub>

[pipers_son]

[No reaction! That sure is strange. The tail just stays right where it is. Hmmmm...]

[walkersystem]

<sub>[HMMM. Might it be treachery??]

[She keeps at the attention game for a while, but then stands up, walks over and lifts the fabric away.]</sub>

[pipers_son]

[There just might be!]

[Because when Molly lifts up the fabric, turns out it was just a Litleo-shaped toy! But from behind her comes the sound of cat-like sniggering, and there's an actual Litleo peering out from beneath another stall with his tail rapidly going back and forth gleefully.]

[Rise had no idea how Nanako, her Meowstic, had talked her into trying to catch these little guys. She didn't even know what a Litleo was until she checked her Dex. So here she was, wandering around with Nanako at her side, trying to find one.

She looked down as a silver Eevee pocked his head out of her bag.]

Eh? Jin? Do you want to help?

[Jin nods. So he's let out of the bag to help look for a Litleo.]

It should be easy to spot one!

[pipers_son]

[The good news: It is in fact easy to spot one.]

[The bad news: the Litleo that's lounging on one of the dining tables looks like she very well might bite someone's hands off. It's not really overt. Just... one of those cats that very clearly doesn't care to be pet. Or cooed over. Or interacted with at all.]

[Meet Dovre the Litleo.]

[Dovre has people problems.]

[dangerousidol]

[Rise perks up and starts heading over to the Litleo.]

Found one-

[Nanako steps in front of Rise with her arms out, shaking her head. No, trainer, this one is bad business. Jin grumbles in agreement.]

Oh... so how are we going to catch it then?

[Letting out a sigh that sounded like a mewl, Nanako climbs up onto a chair. If I can get your ribbon, I will guarantee my human won't get closer.]

[pipers_son]

[Dovre's already been starting up a low aggravated growl at the little group approaching her, and it certainly doesn't stop when Nanako comes up onto a chair near her. Her tail gives an aggravated thrash.]

[And what makes you think I want to give it up? I don't have any interest in dealing with a pampered brat like you.]

[dangerousidol]

[I will punch your brain out with my powers if you don't give me that ribbon. I've taken down bigger Pokémon than you.

She'll attack. Don't think she won't.]
