You know what's better than a regular birthday? The birthday of a circus.




Throughout the streets of Goldenrod, folks will find all sorts of colorful characters and Pokemon about. Fliers and the like have been regular eve since the Circus started up a year ago, but the advertising is in full force today just to make it EXTRA apparent that today is the day. Another hint is all the air traffic in the skies- various Flying-type Pokemon that make up the Circus' transportation service. Who knows? Maybe you're one of those using it today!

And of course, who can miss the colorful spectacle that is the circus itself? Past the entrance gate (which will let you onto the circus grounds for a miniscule fee) are dozens and dozens of stalls and little tents. Looming over them is the main tent itself, a monstrosity of bright welcoming colors. There are all sorts of things amongst their ranks, but it's generally fairly easy to find what you're looking for as Pidgey of a feather flock together and all that... From games of all sorts like the usual carnival games to more of a retro arcade, to a set of shops with local crafts and maybe something from the foreign trainers.... Of course, there's also all sorts of food stalls and even shacks for more filling stuff.

There's even a Litleo hunt going on today! Catch one, win a prize!

With all that alone, you could probably keep busy for most of the day! But surely you aren't forgetting the Big Act?

Yep, the big acts in the Big Top. Times are posted both at the front gate, on fliers you can pick up here and there, and by the entrance to the large tent. For each day, there will be three shows! Better hope you can snag a ticket before they get sold out... Although maybe you'll get lucky for the next show. Or the next day....

Either way, it promises to be a fun weekend!

[Kaneki blinks, shifting to shut his book for the time being.]

Oh, well...okay.

[It takes him a moment to fish the Pokeball out of his bag, but once he does he releases what looks like a tiny candle with a purple flame atop his head. He yawns, rubbing his eyes with two stubby hands before looking up at Chie, blinking curiously at the unfamiliar face.]

This is Phantom.

"I think... I like a overprotective Pokémon more than an overprotective person. I can't think of a Pokémon having a hidden agenda! Right?" Rise looks down at Nanako, who shrugs in return. She certainly didn't have a reason to be malicious. She just wanted her trainer safe and happy.

"That's sweet, Nanako. I want you safe and happy, too~"

"I'm glad you like them!" he replies, taking the money and putting it away before turning back to him. "They really do enjoy making these, even more when they get to see people actually wear them."

"Mm, that's true. And that's a good way to think about it, I think." Chihiro has a few Pokemon like that anyway, like Horu. Though, he's never met anyone who wanted to willingly stand up to a Garchomp, after all.

He pauses, and nods a little bit. "Pretend they're not there? I can... well, I can at least try to do that."

You never know until you try, right? Nacho climbs on his lap and nudges him. Come on, don't be like this. You can do it, you idiot.

[Oh no, she's right on his face. Go big or go home.]

[Having clearly felled the evil villain of this tale, BB takes a moment to proudly roar meow very threateningly to the surrounding area.]

[Just what he wanted today, small lion on his face.

...but maybe that will be enough of a distraction that BB won't notice Hide slowly dropping from the side of the stall, trying his best to come up behind her...and if he's managed to get that far, he'll make a dive for her with zero disregard to the fact that she's still on Kaneki's face.]

[Harpy takes one sniff, then opens her mouth wide, showing off way too many sharp teeth, and moves in to snatch it out of Namine's hand with her tongue.]

No more than that, now, you'll spoil your appetite.

[The sound of the song she'd just been singing wafting past her ears, Ilya turns to the source and blinks in surprise at the young man whose hair rivals even Sora's for sheer messiness.

Actually... he looks a lot like Sora, in the way that Namine looks like Kairi. Ilya raises one eyebrow. How odd. She calls out to him conversationally.]

You look lost. This place is for staff only, you know. Did you come in with someone?

[She rubs her nose.]

I'll just find the best hiding spot ever, then.

[Ilya just laughs.]

I'm sure you will. But perhaps you should think about putting together an act first.

Eh, I'm a cruddy actor. I'll come up with some awesome fighting strategies instead.

[The good news: It is in fact easy to spot one.]

[The bad news: the Litleo that's lounging on one of the dining tables looks like she very well might bite someone's hands off. It's not really overt. Just... one of those cats that very clearly doesn't care to be pet. Or cooed over. Or interacted with at all.]

[Meet Dovre the Litleo.]

[Dovre has people problems.]

[Just another pitiful meow answers Meridiana. There is no objection here, honestly. Being stuck is horrible. Horrible.]

[It should be possible to get the poor little Litleo out with a bit of tugging and wiggling, however. She's only stuck inbetween the stalls halfway- her hind part leaves plenty of room to be grabbed so long as one is mindful of her back claws.]

A circus act, not a play. But yes, that would also be a good thing to practice on your own. Particularly if you ever plan to get around to actually challenging me.

[Blake takes the hammer and swings his arms to limber up. He gives Dietrich a cocky grin.]

I don't know, Urameshi, when people talk instead of act they're usually full of shit.

[This is punctuated, of course, by Maka gently passing the hammer.

By gently she actually means throwing it.]

And I don't think that bell's going to even jiggle at you blowing out some hot air.

[Nope, sounds normal to her.]

Huh...sounds like something that I'd be able to find back home. What's it about?

[Rise perks up and starts heading over to the Litleo.]

[Nanako steps in front of Rise with her arms out, shaking her head. No, trainer, this one is bad business. Jin grumbles in agreement.]

Oh... so how are we going to catch it then?

[Letting out a sigh that sounded like a mewl, Nanako climbs up onto a chair. If I can get your ribbon, I will guarantee my human won't get closer.]

"I'm thankful Nanako hasn't attacked anyone yet." The closest she's ever come to an attack by her Pokémon against another person was Fukuro. His bad habit of dive-bombing new people made things harder than they should be.

[Roxas looks up and nods. Sky just looks happy to be addressed. She'll keep singing the song softly as these two humans converse if you don't mind.]

Yeah. I came in with Naminé and the others. You're Ilya, right? Naminé said you were a friend of hers.

"I was an elite covert operative and professional mistress in my former life, I certainly never expected to end up a circus performer. I enjoy it, though. I like the attention."

She was certain there would be those who knew her back in her birth world that would think her mad, but she likes the circus. There's a sense of belonging to something larger, and she does like being the center of attention.

For her skills, rather than her looks.

Jimmy - OTA

The whole day's been kind of surreal and weird. Jimmy'd helped out earlier in the day, but he'd managed to catch the show. Mainly because Wrath had been going, and Jimmy always likes hanging out with Wrath. But there's been this strange familiarity that's both comforting and distressing.

He feels it at dinner, too. It reminds him of the show dinners back home, in the big top. He misses it but he hates it a little, too. Everything back home is such a mess, but here...

Everybody looks happy. Like a big family. Like he remembers the show being, when he was younger. He doesn't even know what to say about the gift - he's never owned anything that nice in his life. All his coats have come from charity bins.

He's sitting at the big table, his hands in his lap - he can't eat with his gloves on, but he still isn't used to going gloveless in public.

[Fortunately, since coming here she's come into the possession of a few big cats of her own, and she's well-equipped to wriggle this one loose without too much hassle.

...Which also gives her a nice clean grab at the ribbon while she's at it, though she'll try not to make too much of a fuss over that. It's not the only reason she was setting you free, darling, promise!]

[He laughs, clearly amused at the posturing, and takes a grandiose step back that comes accompanied by a sweep of his arms.]

Well, shit, I'm not about to say no to free shit. I want the giant-ass lion thing.
