You know what's better than a regular birthday? The birthday of a circus.




Throughout the streets of Goldenrod, folks will find all sorts of colorful characters and Pokemon about. Fliers and the like have been regular eve since the Circus started up a year ago, but the advertising is in full force today just to make it EXTRA apparent that today is the day. Another hint is all the air traffic in the skies- various Flying-type Pokemon that make up the Circus' transportation service. Who knows? Maybe you're one of those using it today!

And of course, who can miss the colorful spectacle that is the circus itself? Past the entrance gate (which will let you onto the circus grounds for a miniscule fee) are dozens and dozens of stalls and little tents. Looming over them is the main tent itself, a monstrosity of bright welcoming colors. There are all sorts of things amongst their ranks, but it's generally fairly easy to find what you're looking for as Pidgey of a feather flock together and all that... From games of all sorts like the usual carnival games to more of a retro arcade, to a set of shops with local crafts and maybe something from the foreign trainers.... Of course, there's also all sorts of food stalls and even shacks for more filling stuff.

There's even a Litleo hunt going on today! Catch one, win a prize!

With all that alone, you could probably keep busy for most of the day! But surely you aren't forgetting the Big Act?

Yep, the big acts in the Big Top. Times are posted both at the front gate, on fliers you can pick up here and there, and by the entrance to the large tent. For each day, there will be three shows! Better hope you can snag a ticket before they get sold out... Although maybe you'll get lucky for the next show. Or the next day....

Either way, it promises to be a fun weekend!

I'm sure you will. But perhaps you should think about putting together an act first.

Eh, I'm a cruddy actor. I'll come up with some awesome fighting strategies instead.

A circus act, not a play. But yes, that would also be a good thing to practice on your own. Particularly if you ever plan to get around to actually challenging me.

You're sure eager to get your butt kicked.

If you're going to brag, do it after the battle, not before. I'd hate for you to be more embarrassed than you have to be.

You're right, I should stop talking. I'd hate to rub it in after your big scary monsters get beat up by my Clefairy.

[Ilya's about to make a rebuttal, when Harpy turns to Kairi and makes one of her own.]

SKREEEEEEEE!

[That... that was very loud. And high pitched. Ilya's ears are ringing now.]

Ow.

[Oh man who knew dino-birds could be so loud?]

Hey! Hey! I'm sure you'll do fine, just keep it down, okay?

[Ilya turns to Harpy with a frown.]

Harpy, that hurt. And as for you- [She turns back to Kairi.] Maybe that should teach you to have a little respect.

Aw come on, I'm just messing around.

[dressofheaven]

They take their fights seriously. I'd have thought you'd know that by now.

Hey, I'm being plenty serious. It's not my fault you can't take me seriously.

[dressofheaven]

I'm treating you how you're treating me, you know. You were the one who started the... how do you put it? "Garbage talk"?

[paopuprincess]

Trash talking. [She giggles.]

I guess we'll just have to settle this in a battle soon. Then we'll see who the top dog is.

[dressofheaven]

Same thing.

And I'm available anytime. Well, except right now. Joker frowns on battles held in the circus grounds for obvious reasons.

It'd sure draw a crowd.

But I'm sure you're tired. Do you have any other performances today?

[dressofheaven]

No, this was the last one. And good thing too, my throat was getting very sore.

[paopuprincess]

Should we get some lunch then? Some ice cream would probably do wonders for you.

[Yes, Kairi is absolutely suggesting ice cream for lunch.]

[dressofheaven]

Kairi if you eat too much carnival food you're probably going to get sick.

[She sips at her drink thoughtfully though.]

Let's go see what there is. I didn't much pay attention to who was setting up food stalls.

Great!

[Kairi grabs Ilya's hand, pulling her from backstage and into the carnival proper.]

Um, which way to the food again?

[dressofheaven]

I just told you, I wasn't paying attention to that.

[She glances around a bit, though.]

I think most of the people coming by with food are coming from the right, though.

[paopuprincess]

Alright! Do you think we should try the hotdog or the funnel cake first? Oh, maybe one of those deep-fried candy bars.

[dressofheaven]

If you'd seen how they make some of those things, I doubt you'd be so excited.

[Ilya shudders, but she still follows along.]

Eh, the important part is how it tastes.

[Which is heavenly.]

Let's grab some stuff and find a quiet place to relax.
