You know what's better than a regular birthday? The birthday of a circus.




Throughout the streets of Goldenrod, folks will find all sorts of colorful characters and Pokemon about. Fliers and the like have been regular eve since the Circus started up a year ago, but the advertising is in full force today just to make it EXTRA apparent that today is the day. Another hint is all the air traffic in the skies- various Flying-type Pokemon that make up the Circus' transportation service. Who knows? Maybe you're one of those using it today!

And of course, who can miss the colorful spectacle that is the circus itself? Past the entrance gate (which will let you onto the circus grounds for a miniscule fee) are dozens and dozens of stalls and little tents. Looming over them is the main tent itself, a monstrosity of bright welcoming colors. There are all sorts of things amongst their ranks, but it's generally fairly easy to find what you're looking for as Pidgey of a feather flock together and all that... From games of all sorts like the usual carnival games to more of a retro arcade, to a set of shops with local crafts and maybe something from the foreign trainers.... Of course, there's also all sorts of food stalls and even shacks for more filling stuff.

There's even a Litleo hunt going on today! Catch one, win a prize!

With all that alone, you could probably keep busy for most of the day! But surely you aren't forgetting the Big Act?

Yep, the big acts in the Big Top. Times are posted both at the front gate, on fliers you can pick up here and there, and by the entrance to the large tent. For each day, there will be three shows! Better hope you can snag a ticket before they get sold out... Although maybe you'll get lucky for the next show. Or the next day....

Either way, it promises to be a fun weekend!

[Ilya's smile only grows smugger, while Harpy raises her head in grateful acknowledgement of the compliment.]

I'm glad you finally got to hear it. Kairi and Xion have both heard me sing before, it seemed so unfair for you to be left out.

[shatterings]

It was worth it to wait. It was an incredible show. [ She turns to Harpy and smiles even more. ] And your Pokémon were so amazing, too!

[dressofheaven]

[Harpy skrees at her happily. Though it's kind of hard to tell.]

She appreciates the compliment. I'd offer to let you pet her, but she's made out of rock, so it's not exactly like petting, say, Cerberus.

[shatterings]

[ Maybe she'll learn to read their skrees...? ]

It's okay. Um, are there any treats she likes in particular?

[dressofheaven]

[It just takes practice!]

Red meat. As for poffins, she prefers the spicy kind.

[Harpy grins, though as the effect is to show off a lot of sharp teeth it's a bit more disturbing than such an expression usually is.]

[shatterings]

I think I might have one of those.

[ She pulls out a poffin from her bag and offers it to Harpy. ]

Here.

[Harpy takes one sniff, then opens her mouth wide, showing off way too many sharp teeth, and moves in to snatch it out of Namine's hand with her tongue.]

No more than that, now, you'll spoil your appetite.

[shatterings]

[ Naminé gives her head a gentle pat before taking a seat next to Ilya. ]

How long have you been practicing for this?

[dressofheaven]

Months. We spend a great deal of time practicing for every act, though this is the first time I've had one of my Pokemon with me instead of me just singing on my own.

[shatterings]

I can tell. You looked so comfortable and confident up there--so did your Pokémon.

[dressofheaven]

If you're going to perform, Namine, you have to look comfortable and confident. That will channel into your performance, and it's something the audience will see right away. Even if you screw up, you can't let them know.

[shatterings]

That does make sense. [ And Ilya always seems so confident and comfortable, it's no wonder she transfers that to her performances. ] And your Pokémon seem to pick up on it, too.

[dressofheaven]

My Pokemon know to follow my lead. That is, after all, how the relationship between Pokemon and Trainer should work.

[Ilya has Opinions on this sort of thing.]

[shatterings]

Mm. I'm beginning to think that, too. They've done so much for us, too.

[ Like helping Naminé become more comfortable with herself. Though, some of that can be attributed to her friends, too; really, she's thankful for all of them, all of her human friends and her Pokémon. Without them... well, she doesn't want to think about that too much. ]

[dressofheaven]

Yes, they hold up there part of the partnership quite well, usually. Of course, if one of them starts to become uncooperative, solutions have to be found.

[Yeah because that doesn't sound ominous at all.]

[shatterings]

[ ... She gets the idea, definitely. Ilya can be pretty imposing. ]

I'm sure they have no issues listening to you, though...?

[dressofheaven]

Oh, not for long. None of them ever defy me by the time they reach their final evolution, at any rate.

... The occasional quirk notwithstanding. [She's completely given up ever being able to stop Typhon and Hydra chewing on her hair.]

[shatterings]

Like... Cerberus being overly affectionate with her kisses?

[ Though Naminé can't deny that's just adorable. ]

[dressofheaven]

A distressing amount of their more bothersome habits seem to involve their mouths. When they aren't trying to get a taste of me, they're being unnecessarily loud.

[shatterings]

... How many of them like to... chew on hair?

[ And other body parts she almost asks, but she would. Rather not think about that. ]

Thankfully that seems to be a dragon-only trait. Thankfully the rest confine themselves to voices or tongues.

Just watch out for Orpheus. His screams are otherworldly.

[shatterings]

... I think you've warned me about Orpheus before. What... sort of Pokémon is he?

[dressofheaven]

He's a Dusknoir. A ghost-type. Very powerful, very dangerous, and not entirely predictable. Less of a prankster than Riku's Haunter, Phantom, though.
