You know what's better than a regular birthday? The birthday of a circus.




Throughout the streets of Goldenrod, folks will find all sorts of colorful characters and Pokemon about. Fliers and the like have been regular eve since the Circus started up a year ago, but the advertising is in full force today just to make it EXTRA apparent that today is the day. Another hint is all the air traffic in the skies- various Flying-type Pokemon that make up the Circus' transportation service. Who knows? Maybe you're one of those using it today!

And of course, who can miss the colorful spectacle that is the circus itself? Past the entrance gate (which will let you onto the circus grounds for a miniscule fee) are dozens and dozens of stalls and little tents. Looming over them is the main tent itself, a monstrosity of bright welcoming colors. There are all sorts of things amongst their ranks, but it's generally fairly easy to find what you're looking for as Pidgey of a feather flock together and all that... From games of all sorts like the usual carnival games to more of a retro arcade, to a set of shops with local crafts and maybe something from the foreign trainers.... Of course, there's also all sorts of food stalls and even shacks for more filling stuff.

There's even a Litleo hunt going on today! Catch one, win a prize!

With all that alone, you could probably keep busy for most of the day! But surely you aren't forgetting the Big Act?

Yep, the big acts in the Big Top. Times are posted both at the front gate, on fliers you can pick up here and there, and by the entrance to the large tent. For each day, there will be three shows! Better hope you can snag a ticket before they get sold out... Although maybe you'll get lucky for the next show. Or the next day....

Either way, it promises to be a fun weekend!

Immediately, the Zoroark flushes a bit and glances down although unmistakably pleased. "We've been practicing for months to make sure it went well," he murmurs in response, fiddling his thumbs. "Thank you. Papa thought of it."

"You're welcome. I can tell that you all have been working very hard." It certainly shows from what Chihiro can see, and from what he has seen during the month. The members of the circus had been practicing for this show for quite a while, after all.

He glances back over toward where Joker is as he continues, folding his hands together at his front, "All of you deserve the rest, particularly Joker-san."

At that, Invidia gives a particularly energetic nod. "He left everything to the rest of us today, because he's been cooking all day. He said it was important that everything went well... Because everyone here is important."

There's a slight pause, the Zoroark worrying a bit before saying anything. "He said he wouldn't have been allowed to do this sort of thing back where he's from."

Chihiro is all smiles up until the last thing Invidia says. It causes him to falter for just a moment, bringing his hands up to clutch at the bag slung over his shoulder.

"Really? ...do you know why that is?"

At that, Invidia pauses and looks back to the rest of the main troupe. Him and Angel catch one another's eyes for a moment, and nothing else is said. It's a strange kind of silent communication before the Zoroark looks back to Chihiro.

"Angel says Papa is all chained up inside."

Oh...well that doesn't sound very good at all. The boy's expression softens a bit as he, too, looks back over at the troupe. It's a moment before he says anything else, still whispering to Invidia.

"...you must be able to help him, somehow. Right?"

The rest of the troup seems quiet and tired, curled protectively around their ringleader save for Guls who is too messy to do so. The only one who makes eye contact, however, is Angel. The Mime Jr.'s usually cheerful countenance is burdened by a look of worry.

Invidia can only shrug. "We try."

"As long as you are there for him. That's what counts," Chihiro says with an air of certainty, his grip on his bag tightening a little. "Everyone needs a friend or two to be there and help them out when they need it...and he has a lot of those."

[pipers_son]

"You too." Invidia tilts his head to the side, and there's the impression of a tail swishing back and forth even though the illusion is still firmly in place. "Humans need other humans."

That gets Invidia a small smile and a nod as Chihiro looks up at him, Isamu leaning against his trainer's side a bit.

"That's true. Joker-san has a lot of friends, doesn't he?"

[pipers_son]

"That's because Papa likes seeing people laugh!" Invidia seems very proud of this fact.

Who wouldn't be, after all? Joker's done questionable things before Johto- his main troupe all knows that even if they don't particularly understand the specifics- but he's always been good here. That's what matters to them.

"Well, he's very good at it," Chihiro replies. "I don't think I've met anyone who doesn't like him!"

[pipers_son]

"No one should." Invidia says this quite firmly, although he's still smiling. "But I'm glad that you like him too, Teacher Chihiro."

"Oh, of course! Joker-san has been nothing but good to me. And really, he's very hard not to like, I think."

[pipers_son]

"Some of the troupe still try, but they're not very good at it, I think. Just difficult in general." We don't talk about Dovre. Litleo is nothing but trouble. A lot of the cats are, really.

"That reminds me, Teacher Chihiro, did you like your gift?"

At the question, Chihiro brightens a bit. "Oh! Yes, very much, thank you!" He's going to use the heck out of it, you watch him.

[pipers_son]

"Good!" Invidia seems to puff up in both pride and relief. "Papa let me pick it. He said since I know you best, I should be the one to do it."
