8th Act - Happy Anniversary, Eve's Garden Circus!
Who: Come one and all!
Where: Goldenrod
When: The weekend through the 15th to the 18th
Summary: The Eve's Garden Circus is celebrating its first anniversary!
Rating: PG
Log:
You know what's better than a regular birthday? The birthday of a circus.

Throughout the streets of Goldenrod, folks will find all sorts of colorful characters and Pokemon about. Fliers and the like have been regular eve since the Circus started up a year ago, but the advertising is in full force today just to make it EXTRA apparent that today is the day. Another hint is all the air traffic in the skies- various Flying-type Pokemon that make up the Circus' transportation service. Who knows? Maybe you're one of those using it today!
And of course, who can miss the colorful spectacle that is the circus itself? Past the entrance gate (which will let you onto the circus grounds for a miniscule fee) are dozens and dozens of stalls and little tents. Looming over them is the main tent itself, a monstrosity of bright welcoming colors. There are all sorts of things amongst their ranks, but it's generally fairly easy to find what you're looking for as Pidgey of a feather flock together and all that... From games of all sorts like the usual carnival games to more of a retro arcade, to a set of shops with local crafts and maybe something from the foreign trainers.... Of course, there's also all sorts of food stalls and even shacks for more filling stuff.
There's even a Litleo hunt going on today! Catch one, win a prize!
With all that alone, you could probably keep busy for most of the day! But surely you aren't forgetting the Big Act?
Yep, the big acts in the Big Top. Times are posted both at the front gate, on fliers you can pick up here and there, and by the entrance to the large tent. For each day, there will be three shows! Better hope you can snag a ticket before they get sold out... Although maybe you'll get lucky for the next show. Or the next day....
Either way, it promises to be a fun weekend!

[And of course someone who specialized in them would know a lot about them, right?]

[Maka seems to have some reservations about them.]
Is your Litwick the only ghost you have right now?

[Literally in the case of Red Eyes the Banette, whom she's still very sure wants to kill her.]
I've got a Pumpkaboo that he could play with if you wanted. Ghost Light likes playing.

[She just...says that so freely and with such affection.]
He cries if you leave him alone for too long or if people start arguing around him. He doesn't like fighting at all.

...As for Ghost Light, I have a theory of my own about where he came from and why he acts the way he does, but I don't wanna bore you with talking about spirits and stuff.
no subject
Wait, really? I...I don't mind hearing about it.

Today is not that day.
She just stares at him as though she didn't hear him correctly for a few seconds, then shakes herself out of it when she reminds herself--Maka, this is your friend, don't stare at him like he's a purple people eater.]
Well...there's certain times of the months when...I don't know what happens, the barriers of this world grow a little thin and visitors start coming in. You get the abilities you had back home...sometimes Pokemon show up that aren't usually around. My ability is a sixth sense, so a Pumpkaboo approached me first and I sensed the soul inside of it--as in, there was the soul of the Pokemon, and another human soul inside of it.
I didn't know at the time since Pumpkaboo was a new Pokemon and there were no entries on it yet, but...it kinda felt like he thought he was supposed to come to me instead of...going wherever the afterlife is. My friend and I came up with the name Ghost Light for him and he stayed with us for a little while...but then those days ended and he was gone. My memories of that time turned pretty fuzzy, but they usually do for some reason, but I swear I saw him again when new Pokemon actually migrated here and a whole swarm of Pumpkaboo came back. So I officially adopted him and we've been traveling together since.
[All right, that took a little while to set up, but here comes the theory part--]
Pumpkaboo's entry in the Dex says that it carries souls to "where they belong"--meaning the afterlife--but Ghost Light still had the soul he was supposed to be taking over when I met him. I can't tell if he does have it now, but...maybe it's like his soul is getting muddled with the soul of the person from before? And while I'm not a guide to the afterlife, I imagine it's a pretty lonely duty, so he doesn't...like being left alone, or when people fight. People who fight often break up.
[That last bit sounds like she understands it more than on a surface level.]
...Anyway, that's just my thoughts on it.

So, he focuses his attention on the Pokemon aspect for now, because that much is actually fascinating to him.]
Somebody...told me about those certain times, not long ago. Do you think, if it happens again, you'll...be able to tell if the soul is still there?

[Maka shifts, looking embarrassed about answering so confidently about something so...out of the ordinary.]
I've always gotten my abilities back on those days, same as everyone else. The only difference, really, is that nobody from my world comes to visit me much, if at all.
I'd be able to tell if this Ghost Light is the same one I met that first time, too, but...I don't care about that so much as if that soul he was carrying finally moved on. I can't think of anything sadder than a lost soul.

[Her mention of abilities has him curious, but he doesn't try to press her about them. He knows he wouldn't want that if it were him. It's a weird thing to try to talk about no matter what, even though a lot of people here do seem to have powers of some sort, he's noticed.]
