Who: Kyouko Kirigiri & Saburouta Bandou
Where: Goldenrod City
When: Saturday afternoon
Summary: Bandou finally got up the guts to ask out Kirigiri. And she said yes!
Rating: PG I guess?
Log:
[ When he first saw Mikoto's post attempting to get him a date, Bandou was afraid that would have killed any chance he had with Kirigiri before he'd even asked her out. But when she actually replied and didn't seem put off at all, he went for it. Now they're meeting up for ice cream, and Bandou couldn't be in a better mood.
Remembering what she told him about having a bunch of rowdy Eevee's, Bandou pulls his gear out - sending her a quick message that he's outside. His "dating instructor", Rise, insisted he lose the extra layers he's always sporting, so today he's simply in a plain red t-shirt paired with his usual skinny white jeans. No hoodie - not even his giant sunglasses. It feels a little odd, but it's worth it to get to spend the afternoon with Kirigiri. ]

im outside whenever youre ready.
didnt wanna get the eevees all worked up.

Admittedly, she'd been tempted to fuss over her own appearance for all of about thirty seconds when she'd still been upstairs, but ultimately somewhere amid the fussing she'd ended up deciding that it was due more to a weird sense of anxiousness than any particular desire to fuss, and so when she comes around the side of the house, it's pretty much as she's usually dressed — jacket, skirt, boots, and ever-present gloves. There are, however, a pair of sunglasses perched on her head with the supports tucked behind her ears, and she's bringing a bag with shoulder straps that wears like a very small backpack by way of a purse.]
Bandou-kun.
[He's probably expecting her to come out the front door, so she waves slightly and speaks up as she comes around from the backyard, hoping to get his attention early and avoid any awkwardness.]
...Making my escape through the back door was just easier.
no subject
Hey! You look nice.
[ Doesn't matter if she always dresses this way. It's their first time meeting in person and she could pretty much do no wrong in his eyes right now. He does note the sunglasses, though, and half wishes he hadn't followed that little tip. It's an admittedly nice day out and the sun isn't making any effort to hide itself. ]
no subject
...Thank you.
[And it's pretty obvious, even through her usual expert control of her expression, that even now direct compliments will sometimes fluster her a little, though she doesn't look altogether upset at having received one.]
I'm not sure if it'd be more accurate to say you've dressed up or dressed down for the occasion. You don't usually go without your hoodie, do you?
no subject
[ He shrugs. ]
I was told I'm too pale and need to get more sun. Plus, I guess a hoodie's not really something you wear on a date.
[ Not that he's gone on many of them. But maybe it's why he has a hard time getting them in the first place. Hopefully her noticing and commenting on it is a good thing. ]
no subject
I like them. One of my classmates never went without his, either.
[That seems the neatest way of putting it. "One of my classmates", and not "that guy I mentioned, who I owe my life to." She at least has enough tact to sidestep that issue, hoo boy.]
Did Suoh-kun give you that advice, along with helping you advertise?
no subject
[ Damnit Rise! ]
No. My friend Rise did. She said the hoodie and sunglasses were tacky and made me look like a stalker.
no subject
[There, at last — her cool control over her expression breaks a little, and she starts to smile.]
That's Kujikawa Rise, I'm assuming; we've spoken a few times.
no subject
[ If that smile remains on her face, he'll notice in a minute. He's preoccupied with his screw up at the moment. ]
And she said she knew you, too. Damnit.
[ Which totally doesn't imply that he was getting advice specifically to ask Kirigiri out.
no subject
[Nope, that smile's not going anywhere just yet.]
So I'll leave it up to you.
no subject
Ok yeah, let's get them.
no subject
[She pauses, vaguely aware of the need for a topic of conversation and casting around in search of one momentarily before finally settling on one of the natural, easy ones.]
By the way — how is Dai-ichi-kun doing, lately?
no subject
[ He puts his hands in his pockets, turning on his heel to head back in the direction of the hotel he and Mikoto are staying at. ]
He's okay. But, I think he really misses being able to float around and move quickly. Especially with Freddy and Casper around.
I was gonna ask him if he wanted to evolve again, but I need something called a Reaper Cloth and they're like ten thousand pokedollars or something crazy like that.
no subject
That must be one of the more expensive evolutionary items out there. Most are several thousand less; are you planning to save up for it?
no subject
I can't even save up that much money back home. I don't know how the hell I'm gonna pull it off here. But, if he wants to evolve, I'll try and do it for him.
no subject
[Says the girl who had her own credit card at age thirteen and a personal budget of "whatever my Kyouko wants".]
Among other things, I'm a breeder, so overseeing the production of eggs is a part of my job description here; it wouldn't be difficult to supervise that sort of thing, if you wanted to try that as a way of raising money. It can be lucrative.
no subject
[ He's not gonna be petty. He won't do it. Even if he can't hold a job down back home for more than a month. But breeding couldn't be too terribly difficult, right? ]
Are trainers even allowed to sell eggs?
no subject
[Which is sort of ridiculous, but you know.]
We inherited the premises on my birthday, actually.
[...MOVING ON...]
I don't see why a trainer couldn't sell eggs. I think it's just not intended to be their area of expertise, is all.
no subject
[ Or at a hotel. Speaking of which, they've arrived and he holds the door to the lobby open for her. ]
I guess I can try it out. Oh uh, Mikoto's probably taking a nap. Not that he'll care I brought you over, but just so you know.
no subject
[She glances at him, and then at the door, and then sort of smiles to herself as she heads inside, adjusting the backpack on her shoulder.]
As far as the breeding goes, I haven't overseen a hatching in a few weeks now, so it wouldn't be any trouble to do, either.
no subject
[ And on up the elevator they go. ]
So you'd really help me out? Cause I have no idea what I'm doing with that. I'm used to just dropping them off at the daycare for awhile.
no subject
[...Hmmm.]
Though I imagine it'd mean spending a few afternoons together, while I investigated that. I assume that's not a problem?
no subject
[ Finally at the room. Sure enough, Mikoto's passed out on one of the beds. Dai-ichi's sitting at the base of the other chattering away with a tiny, pink Spritzee. When they hear the door open, he hops up and trudges over, offering Bandou a high-five. ]
Hey, Dai-ichi. You remember Kirigiri, right?
[ He nods as best he can and offers his hand up to her, as well. ]
no subject
Hello to you too. Who's your friend, Dai-ichi-kun?
no subject
Having found his hoodie, Bandou wanders back over, adjusting the hood neatly over his hat. ]
He likes her.
[ Bandou grins at him and somehow Dai-ichi gets even more flustered. ]
no subject
I can see why; she's lovely.
[And she throws Bandou an amused look.]
And I'm sure he makes for a charming admirer.
no subject
Meanwhile, Bandou blinks at Kirigiri. Was that supposed to be a subtle comment on him, also? Would she say something like that to him? He has no idea but either way, it's a nice thought so he's just gonna take it that way and give a comment of his own in the same light. ]
Yeah, he's got good taste, too.
