Ghost, ghost facers!
Who: Envy (
exeggutorhead) and Greed (
ossifragant)
Where: Route 37
When: July 26th
Summary: Around this time last year, Greed and Envy had a Spooky Encounter with a mysterious thing in the woods. Clearly, it's time to hunt the thing down and show it who the real monsters are.
Rating: PG-13 for language, probably
Log:
[Neither Envy nor Greed are really the type to just forget being embarrasingly scared out of their wits by some mystery creature. But where others might remember and be smart enough to leave that area well enough alone in the future…
Well.
Remembering has kind of the opposite effect on these two. Envy for one doesn't think that something from this happy-go-lucky world ought to have gotten away with scaring a pair of centuries-old real monsters. Clearly it had just been cheating! If they could have just caught it instead of it having run away, then there would have been no contest at all. And now that they're in the same woods at around the same time of year, Envy just sees an opportunity to get even. After camp has been set up for the night and everyone else has long gone to sleep, Envy nudges Greed's sleeping bag to signal that it's time. He's already got one of the flashlights.]
Hey. Hey, you ready? Let's get going and find this bastard.

Hey. Hey, you ready? Let's get going and find this bastard.

Now? Now it's different. Now it's personal, and the two of them are going to kick this asshole's butt.
Nobody frightens these monsters and gets away with it.]
I'm ready; let's go.
[He's already armed with his fists.]

[Once they've snuck out of the tent and gotten far enough away that they probably won't wake anyone else up, Envy turns on the flashlight and shines it around.]
[The question of how to track a ghost had not occurred to him. THEY'LL JUST. FIND IT.]
[SOMEHOW.]
Let's go...that way. It's as good a direction as any. We can look for those clawmarks, or weird fog or stick bundles.
no subject
Yeah. Might as well.
[He glances around in the dark. If only he had his homunculus eyes still, this would go so much easier.]
If this is some Pokemon playing a prank on us....
no subject
If it was, I'd put money on it having been some asshole ghost type.
[Off to the right, there's the crunch of something stepping on a twig, and Envy whips the flashlight around...only to find a startled Sentret that quickly turns and flees into the underbrush.]
[Ugh, maybe this won't be so easy...]
no subject
[He's really not surprised.]
Creepy bastards. I wonder what one did this? Could have been a Gengar, I guess.
[He's really been here a long time if he can speculate about who exactly was playing a prank on them.]
I sure wish I still could see in the dark... It would make it easier to find the bastard.

[Things he doesn't say: "I really hope not" and "Kind of wishing we'd brought our Pokemon, come to think of it". He can't say that! He's the oldest and they can't wuss out now, after all that talk.]
Maybe it'll make a mistake and think it can scare us again, then it'll come right to us.
[Y...EAH...]
Let's just keep walking.
no subject
Yeah, maybe!
[He laughs in an attempt to sound tough, but in reality, Greed is pretty nervous; neither of them have an idea what they're up against. It kind of creeps him out.]
Yeah...
[It sure is silent here...]
I don't hear any Pokemon at all right now...
no subject
...you think they're hiding from something?
Maybe we're getting close.
[HE'S NOT SURE HE WANTS TO BE GETTING CLOSE.]
[Above them, a pair of round red eyes blinks open. The Hoothoot yawns, opens its beak and lets out an UNGODLY SCREECH.]
no subject
[His voice is getting low, though he's not doing it deliberately.]
There must be something around here somewhere. Not like something could sneak up on us again.
[And then he hears that sound and lets out the most undignified yelp.]
no subject
[And then that screech happens and Envy sure hopes that the nightmare sound covers up his own startled shout. He also JUMPS in Greed's direction, knocking into him.]
[He at least manages to resist actually grabbing onto the other homunculus, that would be way to undignified.]
What the fuck was that?!
[The woods around them are eerily quiet once more.]
no subject
That... that...
[The hell kind of noise was that??]
You think that was the thing that tried to scare us last year?
