Who: Neku Sakuraba and Nagi Naoe
Where: Goldenrod City
When: Evening, August 1
Summary: Neku asks his friend to come hang out. Wires get crossed. It's certainly not a date
Rating: PG for possible battles
Log:
[Neku was still learning how this whole 'friend' thing went- but he knew hanging out was part of it. Him and Nagi talked mostly over text and snapshots. He liked it that way honestly. But occasional meet ups were nice. Ones where he didn't have to worry about a fight as much.
And honestly he wanted to see this world's version of movies for awhile. From what he's heard they were much shorter, so multiple series were often shown together. Perfect for a casual thing. So there he stood, checking the time on his Gear occasionally as he waited for Nagi]

Shit: Electro ball!
[With Frolass' speed down from the paralyzing... it was apt to do some heavy damage]
no subject
She pushes off the ground with some difficulty, her gaze narrowing as she glares at Gibson.]
One more, Ice-!
[Before Nagi finishes his command the Froslass suddenly moves, letting out a noise of frustration as she starts to try to use Ice Shard again. ...which wasn't the attack Nagi was going to say at all.
It doesn't seem to matter either way, though, because she never gets the chance. Her body convulses and she falters, unable to move.
Behind her, Nagi's expression darkens, but he doesn't say anything now that his chance has been lost.]

Light Screen.
[Gibson, panting and in pain, waves his tail, forming the shimmering wall. Turn 1]
no subject
He speaks up, his voice firm.]
Listen to me, Furue. Now, use Icy Wind, again!
[This time she does follow through, bringing her arms down in an arc to send a blast of icy cold air toward the Emolga.]
no subject
You weren't kidding.

He considers his options, watching her hover there weakly. She's slow and paralyzed with her health no doubt in the yellow. After a pause he reaches down for her pokeball, suddenly returning her.]
She is strong, but impulsive.
[Nagi unclips another pokeball and tosses it out without warning, his Ninetales appearing in startling contrast compared to how small Furue was, her massive tails swaying while slightly arched over her back.]
That was just a warm up.

Alright, Volt Switch.
[Poor Gibson practically sags in relief, darting out to attack for a small hit before returning to his ball: apparently Neku likes these kinda attacks on his starters. In a flash his next pokemon appears
what the fuck even is that thing]
no subject
Since when has Neku had that thing?
Nagi keeps his confusion out of his expression for the most part. Munashi was his second Pokemon. He isn't concerned.]
Sunny Day.
[He calls out to her, and no sooner does he say that than does the sun start blaring down harshly over the field, as if the sun had just escaped from behind a wall of clouds.]
no subject
Neku doesn't look concerned. He doesn't even give it an order.
It just smiles. And.... Yawns. Or well, uses Yawn]

Flamethrower!
no subject
Amnesia!
[At least NEKU cares, upping it's S. Defense: can't risk her levels cutting through the resistance]
no subject
Flamethrower!!
[Munashi exhales another massive plume of fire right at the Quagsire, taking a few steps closer to it to see if that will have any affect. Already though, Nagi can see her beginning to droop, her movements starting to grow sluggish.
She's stuck with mostly special attacks- not good.]
no subject
...Earthquake.
[Oh, that's some rumbling]
no subject
Neither Nagi nor Munashi have any time to react. The ground quakes beneath her paws and the force of the shaking sends her to the ground with a sharp yelp. She really feels that, and it hurts.]
Munashi!
[Nagi shouts, but it's no use. She's lying on her side with her tails curled around her legs.
...fast asleep.]
no subject
Keep up the pressure! Another Earthquake.
[He had to faint her before she woke up]
no subject
[The second earthquake rocks her body harder than the first, tossing her to the side like a rag doll. Yet through it all she doesn't wake up. The affects of sleep in battle aren't like normal sleeping; it can almost be likened to being knocked unconscious for a time. She could be down for another few turns, leaving Nagi helpless but to watch as she gets pummeled.
In the end, Nagi pulls what's probably a cheap move, but in the heat of the moment he doesn't care.]
Return!
[The sleeping Ninetales returns in a flash of red. Now he has two pokemon with low health and status afflictions.
Just as the affects of the earthquake dissipate, he throws out his third Pokemon.
He stands up on his hind legs, ears twitching and tail waving from side to side, electricity sparking from his yellow cheeks in anticipation. Isogu, his Raichu.
This was a water type, and earthquake had limited PP. Isogu was faster, and if he could paralyze it...
Little does Nagi know that he couldn't have made a worse choice.]
no subject
Nagi didn't realize Quagsire was half ground. He probably assumed he had taught him Earthquake through a TM for type coverage. Holy shit.]
Mud Sport!
[His Quagsire gurgles, and spits mud all over, covering them both with thick gunk. He might be immune to electricity, but just in case Nagi had something up his sleeve he wanted to be prepared]
no subject
Thunder, now!
[Isogu obeys, the entire field lighting up so bright that both pokemon can't even be seen for a moment.]
no subject
...quag?
[Oops]
Earthquake!
no subject
[...no. No no no that- that should have fried a water type, why didn't-
...Nagi's eyes widen and he pales visibly, balling his fists so tightly at his sides that his knuckles turn white.]
No!
[Isogu shrieks in pain as the super effective attack hits him directly, sending him falling back hard. Nagi has to think to step back, even, to keep from having his kneecaps taken out by his own Raichu.
For a long, tense moment Isogu doesn't move. Before Nagi can get too upset he sees his starter stir, trembling as he pushes himself back to his feet. But his condition is critical; he can't take another hit like that.]
no subject
I keep telling you to reasearch, man.
[He points the Gear at his pokemon]
Quagsire: The Water Fish Pokemon. Water/Ground.
"Quagsire hunts for food by leaving its mouth wide open in water and waiting for its prey to blunder in unaware. Because the Pokémon does not move, it does not get very hungry."
Finish it off with a Mud Shot!
[Quagsire gurgles again, spitting mud at the poor Raichu]
no subject
Nagi stares at the fainted Raichu with his fingers curling tightly around his Pokeball before returning him. His expression is hard to read, but with how red in the face he is, it's clear he's embarrassed by the mistake.]
...next knockout takes it.
no subject
Right. Last one. Bloop, come back.
[That demon fish vanishes, and Neku tosses his final ball: Candle, his Delphox. She yips, spinning her stick-wand]
no subject
He tosses his fourth pokeball out with a sharp flick of his wrist, catching the ball when it splits open and comes back down. Standing before him is his Gardevoir, Uchi. Of course Nagi would round things out with one of his strongest psychic types.]
Are you ready?
no subject
Always. Candle, go for Light Screen!
