It's a simple room you started out in. Bed in the back, small desk next to it. There's your pokegear sitting on top with a pokeball, a backpack of supplies at your feet. A note is on your pillow.

Welcome, new Team Rocket member,
Once you wake, please change into proper uniform and wait for instructions. Feel free to have a look around, but don't stray too far.
Thank you for being part of our winning team.
- Rocket Boss
Welcome to Mahogany Town, Young Rocket Grunt. It's not big, but there's enough space to go around. Put on your new uniform, scope out your surroundings... you'll be here for a while.
[[ooc: ETA: HERE is a list of what your characters receive in the backpack!]]

Kana, stunned, began to nod.
"Yes! I did! ...Um, the letter said we have to work for Giovanni, but I think that's against the Labour Standards Law..."
Why a nine-year-old was fretting over labour laws was just...
"Oh... You didn't see him, then?"

He was surprised at the girl's next remark. She seemed unusually perceptive for her age, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. (That, or he had underestimated her age. Some girls looked a lot younger than they actually were, though he doubted that this was the case.)
"Maybe things work differently around here. This is Pokemon, after all!"
Kida shook his head. "Sorry. But I'll let you know if I see him, all right? Ah, my name is Kida Masaomi, by the way! Very nice to meet you!"
no subject
"Poke...mon?" Kana took a moment to sound the word out. She had never heard of such a thing.
"O-Oh." She flushed and sank into a bow. "Hello, sir... I'm Ushiro Kana. It is nice to meet you too."
no subject
"Yup! Pokemon. Haven't you heard of it? I'm pretty sure everyone knows what Pokemon is!"
Kida waved a hand. "Ah~! No need to bow to me or call me sir! That makes me feel old, even though I look like a young man far beyond my tender years of fifteen! Just call me Kida or Masaomi, or even your personal idol! But there's no need for such stiff formality! Not in the midst of friends and comrades!"
no subject
He sure seemed full of energy! Kana smiled bashfully. (She stifled a giggle at Mareep's behaviour.) "Kida-kun," she compromised. Although, Personal Idol surely intrigued her.
Then she asked, "Um...are you looking for your family, too?"
no subject
"Then Kida-kun it shall be~!" Kida exclaimed, throwing an arm into the air.
"Well, I don't mean to sound harsh or uncaring, but I'm not really looking for them. I don't feel like they'd be here, anyway."
And that was true. He hoped that the same thing applied to Mikado and the others, because he honestly didn't want them to get tangled up in this twisted world.

We are inside a game? she puzzled, having never heard of Nintendo. The last Game she had been involved in had threatened to take her brother's life. That seemed like ages ago... Hopefully this "game" was a little friendlier and didn't operate at the expense of the players' life force.
"But I don't want you to get lonely," she said, worrisome.

Kida gave a small chuckle. "With my faithful yellow sheep and your willing support, I will plow through the day the best I can, attempting to make new friends and bonds with others in this strange, yet familiar world like in the movies! Never fear! I will never be lonely in such a wondrous place like this!"
But the last sentence, considering all things, was a complete lie. Because even though this was all goodness and wonderfulness on the surface, Kida could still feel an unease coming from the citizens of this small town whenever they passed by them, could still feel something crawl under his skin when he had woken up in that Rocket building. But he wasn't going to say that, of course.
"Besides, it's better if they aren't here, don't you agree~?"
no subject
"Oh...I think so," she finally agreed. "I think...it's always better to be home."
At his question:
"I am from Tokyo. The Shinagawa ward."
Oh, wait... What was it that the Game had taught its players?
"But there are a lot of different Earths, I think, sir. I mean, Kida-kun. My big brother...he says there are many different versions of one world."
Then, this strange world was just another of many, wasn't it? But why did something seem very off about this one?
no subject
Kida nodded, smiling. "So~ Have you lived there all your life?"
Different versions of a world? Well, that was new. He hadn't heard that one in a while, save from some manga and movies. "Different Earths? Like in sci-fi? Really? Is your brother a big expert on alternate dimensions?"
no subject
"Yes. My Oniichan is very, very smart," she said proudly. She would have said this even if he weren't. Ushiro Jun was only twelve years old: but Kana still thought he was the mastermind of the universe. "If we find him, I am sure he can get us all back home again."
no subject
But using Kana as a simple stepping stone for that really didn't sit with Kida well. Sometimes sacrifices have to be made, he told himself, but it didn't fully convince him. He picked up his Mareep, causing it to give a confused baa, to stall for some time.
"He must be the new Einstein, then!" he exclaimed. "That's simply amazing. In that case then, to reunite you with your darling, beloved brother, I, Kida Masaomi, pledge myself to aiding you in your quest to find your older sibling!"
no subject
"Thank you very much, Kida-kun." She was so worried when she first woke up--but Machi-sensei was here, Mayako was here, and she was certain that her big brother had to be here. "I promise I will repay you."
