"It's not a comparison. Good god, I have more in common with him than you do. But you, as an intelligent man who has seen and lived through a great deal, understand how personal demons can cause a person to behave in abnormal ways."

She brushed against him as she moved to put the cake in the oven and set the timer.

"And you really don't need to be concerned about Ralph. I see him nearly every day. I was with him yesterday. I've been giving him regular updates on Wrath's progress."

"That is different. Regardless, if 'abnormal ways' involve blatant threats, there is no reason not to take issue with it."

Scar protected his own, and he didn't give a damn about Blake's reasons.

"Dangerous is dangerous, no matter what."

"I appreciate your concern, but neither one of them are any danger to me."

She turned to him and reached for his hands, to take them in hers.

"Ralph is a dear friend, and men like Blake...I could chew him up and pick my teeth with his bones before he knew what happened."

Scar wasn't so quick to buy that. He knew that Lust could manage herself, but in the end, they were still both large men he didn't trust. Especially Blake. He was a breakdown waiting to happen.

"I'm staying here for a while." He doubted she would stop him, and that was the end conclusion anyway. They just weren't going to agree.

"Here in Goldenrod, or here here?"

Just to clarify. Lust wasn't going to protest to either, but the statement had been ambiguous. He wanted to be sure she was safe, it was sweet. In a stubborn, bullheaded sort of way. He had his manner of showing her he cared.

"Here." Scar had become increasingly paranoid since Mustang's arrival, and it took very little to set him off these days. His tenseness was made more obvious by the fact that he hadn't sat down or even relaxed since arriving. The house itself didn't help, either.

"Alright. We're a bit pressed on room...Heather's not here currently, but with Alphonse staying..."

She thought it over. She knew he wouldn't like to just camp out in one of the shared public rooms.

"Well, you can always take my room and I can stay with Envy. You'd have privacy."

He hesitated a moment. He wasn't about to inconvenience her or Alphonse.

"I can stay on your floor."

Scar would feel better being in the same room as her, anyway.

"No, you can have a cot in my room. Not even my Houndour sleeps on the floor, my partner certainly isn't going to." She wouldn't feel comfortable, with Scar sleeping on her floor like a punished dog.

"I'll set it up when my cake's done. Are you hungry?"

"I can set it up myself." His eyes darted away at the word 'partner.'

"A little," he admitted.

"Alright, the linen closet's down the hall, the door next to the bathroom. Take what you need." She moved away, opening the fridge and frowning at the contents. She needed to go shopping - proper shopping, not snacks and finger sandwich fixings.

"There's leftover casserole from last night, if you want a plate. I made it, but it's edible. It's mostly cheese."

The tension on Scar's brow eased with Lust's description of the casserole. Edible and mostly cheese. Of course. He nodded as he left to fetch the things to set up a bed in Lust's room.

He was glad that he hadn't encountered anyone else, yet. He didn't particularly want to.
