[ Sounds exactly like him and it's good to know someone's keeping an eye on Carolina. The woman would never allow it explicitly, but Tex knows well enough York will help when and where he can. ]

So, let me guess. We have to do this "gainful employment" shtick if we want to make any money. Does anyone know how we got here?

Nope, no one knows for sure. Again, not something I wanted to examine too hard in case it, y'know, quit on me.

[You know what's great, Tex? Not being dead five minutes of screentime after his introduction.]

You know, you could always pick on little kids and take their lunch money. Dunno how lucrative a business that is, though.

[His Luxray makes what might be an amused chuffing noise, tail twitching behind her.]

[Before he says anything flip, York actually stops to consider his answer. He breathes a quiet half-laugh that has less to do with humor than with self-aware wryness. He said this already, but:]

Carolina's here, and she survived the crash, and she's about as happy as any of us can expect to be, after everything that happened.

And for some reason, whatever brought us here dragged in soldiers. [ Not the smartest move if weapons were illegal. She sighs. ]

Fine. I can pretend to be a civilian. [ Once she finds somewhere safe to stash her armor, anyway. ]
