fool me once, shame on you
Who: John Egbert and his hapless victims YOU!
Where: Goldenrod City
When: April 1st
Summary: The world of Pokemon has also opened up an entirely new world of pranking for John Egbert. Beware.
Rating: possible PG-13 for swearing/Homestuck dialogue
Log:
[John's been training for this. Ever since he caught wind of the date and just how quickly April was approaching, he began drawing up his battle plans, diligently training his starter Pokemon, all for this fateful day.
April Fool's.
He sets an alarm and gets up early to make sure he sets everything up perfectly and that Blue is ready for her part in the shenanigans. Then the fun begins.
John's first prank of the day is a mix of two classics: Ding Dong Ditch and the good ol' bucket on the door trick. He sets Blue up with a little pail of water and has her flutter above a hotel room door, knocks on the door, then runs. When pulled off flawlessly, the hapless occupant of the room opens their door, looks around confused, and then Blue dumps her pail of water onto the unfortunate prankee while John giggles from around the corner.
His second prank involves the outdoors, some very careful precision on Blue's part. As he takes a stroll around the city, Blue flies overhead. John's invested some money in fake bird poop, which Blue expertly drops onto the heads of unsuspecting victims below. John watches each individual react in their own way and doubles over with laughter on the side of the sidewalk. Priceless!
John's grand finale comes back at the hotel, in the evening. This particular plan is subtle, and downright devious. He's taught Blue how to throw her little bird voice, and so he stations her outside of closed doors and has her occasionally chirp, throwing the sound into the room, and then he listens. The chirps come at irregular intervals and from seemingly different "places" inside the room. It's a slow burn kind of prank, the kind designed to slowly drive somebody up the walls.
This is officially the greatest day of the year.]
((OOC: Feel free to be the victims of any of John's listed pranks, or have your character approach him suspiciously. Or do something else entirely! If you want to plot or ask any questions or set up something different, you can either message this journal or catch me on plurk at

[John sees a bidpedal plant making a beeline for him, and he quickly backs up, taking Blue off of his head and holding the small bird Pokemon out in front of him like a shield. It looks a little silly, but John is not about to take any chances with a flower Pokemon that probably has some ridiculous Pokemon magical powers.]
Hey, it was just a joke! It's not really poop, I promise!
no subject
Okay okay, thanks Sunny, but it's alright! Say, what's this stuff made out of, huh? Cause that's pretty-
[....good.
Jimmy goes still, looking up at the boy standing there with a bird in his hands, his smile suddenly faltering. Actually, he looks like he's seen a ghost.]
...John?!
no subject
[Wait a second. This kid knows his name. John looks down to check that he's not wearing a nametag or something before he's forced to address the inherent awkwardness of not recognizing somebody that clearly knows him.]
Uh... do you know me? Wait, was this a John from an alternate timeline? Because if he was an asshole to you, then I promise we are not the same person, and he is definitely the inferior John.
no subject
But then...he realizes that he doesn't remember.
It's not uncommon for this sort of thing to happen, but Jimmy can't remember it ever happening with someone he knew before, not as long as he's been here. But his excitement over seeing him again seems to be enough to keep the smile plastered on his face, enough to hide any disappointment he might have felt.]
Yeah! Well, I mean...I guesso? You used to be here a while ago, and uh...no, no y- ..he was super nice! Really cool!
[Jimmy laughs a little, glancing off to the side once he realizes how awkward he's made this.]
Uuuuh...I'm Jimmy. Jimmy Two-Shoes. That was a really funny prank.

Still, his pranking prowess is being complimented here, so John is not about to get too philosophical about the intricacies of other selves. April Fool's Day isn't for introspection - it's for hilarious hijinks.]
It's nice to meet you Jimmy! I'm John, but I guess you already knew that. And thanks! Me and Blue have been training a lot for today, haven't we Blue?
[At this, he holds up his Swablu, who flutters happily. It looks like both of them are pretty darn proud of themselves.]
no subject
Heh, well there's no day like April Fool's, huh? What other kinds of pranks are you gonna pull?
no subject
[Pranking is very serious business, okay?]
no subject
I swear!
no subject
I just need to find out what room to target, first.
no subject
Sweet corn, that's so cool! I wish I could see her doing that!
[And see the prank in action besides.]
no subject
[As though it's less suspicious when it's only one person sitting outside of a room.]
But I bet Blue can do a demonstration for you right now, right Blue?
[And the Swablu chirrups in response... though it sounds mysteriously like it's coming from a spot behind Jimmy rather than in front of him. Weird!]
no subject
Woooah! Do it again, Blue! Pleease?
no subject
Yeah, pretty cool, right? You have no idea how long it took to get that trick right!
no subject
[And that gives Jimmy an idea.]
Do you think you guys could maybe show me how to do that, sometime? My Chatot Paco would prolly really like to learn!
no subject
I mean, I have no idea what a Chat Tot is, but I don't think it would be that hard to teach. You just need to promise me that you'll use it for some awesome pranks, okay?
