The evening painted a perfect backdrop for the day's end. After a long day of working stock in the Pokemart, Perry was ready to train his Pokemon a little more.

Magikarp flopped around in the fountain as Charmander played Rock Paper Scissors with Psyduck who was simply nodding with each motion thrown out. Perry chuckled as he sipped his drink. Clapping his hands, his Pokemon looked up and walked, waddled and bounced over.

"Char?"

"Duck."

"Karp?"

Perry smiled and they nodded in agreement.

Vivio blinked, then laughed as Psyduck hugged her leg. She bent down and returned the hug. "Aww... I'm glad to see you, too!"

She felt a bit jealous, though - Perry had three and Vivio didn't have the chance to get one. Maybe a bit later...

"You know... I haven't had any real fights since I got here..." Vivio mused. "Hey, Perry - you think we could have a small fight?"

Perry thought for a moment and nodded.

"Duck?" asked Psyduck hopefully and he shook his head. It wouldn't be fair being a type-battle. Psyduck blinked slowly and the nodded.

"Charmander," said Charmander, tapping its chest and Perry nodded.

A smile formed on her face as Perry agreed.

"Great!" she said, grabbing one of her Pokeballs and activating it, releasing Tyrogue. "Alright, Tyrogue, we're gonna have our first trainer fight!"

"Rogue!" the Pokemon shouted, pumping himself up in excitement.

Perry smiled as he got up and gestured to the large clear area around the fountain.

Standing at one end, Charmander looked excited to see how he'd fare against Tyrogue.

Vivio nodded and made her way over to where Perry pointed, Tyrogue following.

The Pokemon itself was ready to see how well it could do.

For a long moment there was nothing, and then the background music that seemed to idle around all the time finally changed, shifting into the now-recognizable battle tune. It was like a sign more or less, to allow trainers to figure out when to begin without a judge.

PKMN Trainer Perry sent out Charmander!

Vivio jerked a bit as she heard the music change, causing the girl to turn and look around in confusion as the Tyrogue stood ready to fight.

Lass Vivio sent out Tyrogue!

One duck noise to get Vivio's attention later, and Perry's Charmander was preparing to attack as it charged in with a Scratch attack.

Vivio turned back just in time to watch as Charmander's Scratch attack connected.

"AHH! Kris, Tackle!" Vivio yelped out as the Pokemon charged forward, attempting to ram the lizard.

Charmander was knocked back from the tackle and he flipped in the air once before landing a ways away.

"rrrrght!" commanded Perry.

"Char!" And Charmander swept his tail towards Tyrogue in an Ember attack, the small flames flickering out at it.

The fighting Pokemon saw the flames and tried to dodge them, only to get hit by a few of the stray flames, causing him to flail!

"T-Tyrogue! Put it out and Hi-Jump Kick!" Vivio cried out.

"ROGUE!" the Pokemon roared, putting out the flames and launching himself at the lizard.

On command, Charmander backed up away from the Hi-Jump Kick, passing by so close that it was nicked, tossed around dizzily. A warning noise from Perry and Charmander regained its footing.

Perry smiled. Vivio was putting up a good battle. Another command had the Charmander using its growl attack.

The nick was enough for Tyrogue not to spiral out of control and crash. For once. Landing on the ground, the Pokemon flinched as the growling took him off guard.

"Tyrogue, fight it and hit him with Tackle!" Vivio cried out. Still disoriented, the Pokemon charged again.

Charmander met it head on, pushing back against the stronger Fighting Pokemon. He skidded backwards from the impact.

"RRRGHT!"

Charmander shoved back and then flicked it's tail, hoping to use another Ember attack.

Tyrogue, being too close, found itself in range of the flames, getting burnt again. It was really hurting him - he didn't know how much longer he was going to last.

"Tyrogue! Hi-Jump Kick again!" Vivio shouted. With that, Tyrogue, leaped at the Charmander, intending on kicking it hard.

Too close to dodge, Charmander took the attack head-on and it was spun around from the force of it.

And with a soft thump, fell over.

Charmander has Fainted! Lass Vivio wins!

Lass Vivio gains 200P!

Perry smiled. That was probably something Vivio needed, a good solid win. Walking over, he gathered Charmander in his arms who opened his eyes.

"Char...?"

"Rrrrght."

Satsified, Charmander curled up in his arms.

Vivio couldn't help but act surprised. Her first trainer battle and she won. "I... I did it!" Vivio said. "I won! This is great!"

"Rogue!" Tyrogue grunted, nodding... before trying to tend to his burns.

"Ehhh... w-we'd better get the two of you fixed up!" Vivio said, a bit worried.

"Rrrght." Perry set down the snoozing Charmander and he pulled a potion from his pocket. It was a sample that he was allowed to take from his job, and he held out his hand for Tyrogue to offer.

This might sting a little Perry's expression seemed to say.
