Who: Roxas and Sora
Where: Outside Union Cave, Route 32
When: Forwarded to Friday afternoon
Summary: "Roxas, I am your father o___q" --Sora has a couple of questions for Roxas, and Roxas has agreed to get together and talk.
Rating: PG
"Roxas is a Nobody. My Nobody. Says he doesn't have a heart."
Three tiny slivers of information were all Sora had written down in the journal he'd been keeping for Jiminy Cricket. Though they were less information and more direct answers to questions he had, though he hadn't yet been able to connect the two. What is a Nobody? What did Roxas mean when he said he was, in a way, half of who Sora is? How the heck does one live without his or her heart? Last time Sora tried that trick, his body disintegrated into light, what senses he had left fell through the floor... and awakened again in Johto.
He had other questions, too, about doubles and lookalies, but... that wasn't exactly a subject Sora was interested in broaching, and he wondered if Roxas felt the same way. It'd already kept him awake at night enough since last week as it was. Sora closed the little notebook in his hands with a sigh as he sat himself down in the grass and waited for Roxas. The sudden new music wasn't really helping him relax, either.

It didn't take him long to find Sora, and to sit down across from him. Roxas paused for a moment before finally taking a breath.
"So, what did you want to talk about?"
no subject
He ran a hand through his hair, not answering at first. He'd been thinking about how to ask his questions, but now that Roxas was sitting in front of him, the right words just flew out of his ears.
"Well... I guess I just want to know about you. Your story."
no subject
"There's not a whole lot to tell. A lot of it is fuzzy, actually. But I'll try my best." Roxas paused to take a breath.
"I don't remember a lot about when I first appeared, I think was like a zombie or something. Then I met Axel and he brought me to the Organization. I was there for almost a year, and then I left, because I wanted to know why the keyblade chose me." Roxas paused. It felt like he was missing something but couldn't remember what.
"After I left, I fought Riku and lost. The next time I woke up, I was in Twilight Town, and I didn't remember anything about before. All I knew then was that strange things were happening to me and that I was dreaming about you. I was in Twilight Town for a week, before learning that it was just a digital copy that the Guy in Red was keeping me in to prevent the Organization from coming for me. I got my memory back around that time as well, and then I met you, Sora. But you were asleep, and I was supposed to merge with you so you could wake up, but I ended up here instead."
That was about it, really. The short history of Roxas. He stared at the ground, drawing in the dirt with his finger.
no subject
And merging? What was he doing sleeping, anyway? That thought weirded Sora out the most out of the entire story, so he decided to run with that topic first. He frowned, silently watching Roxas for a moment.
"Does that whole... merging thing. Does it have something to do with Nobodies?"
no subject
That sounded right, at least to Roxas. He had Sora's memories up to a point.
"I think something happened with you and Namine, and that you had to sleep so that you could be put back together. Because I'm your nobody, I guess I was the last piece."
no subject
That was all Sora was able to spit out before he fell silent again, flabbergasted. Then, without warning, he suddenly reached toward Roxas and... prodded him lightly on the shoulder. Like he needed confirmation that Roxas was actually there. He'd need at least a few more minutes to quietly boggle before he'd think to speak again-- he certainly had the definition of a Nobody now, but he'd still need to ask for the how and the why.
no subject
"I'm real," He said, after Sora prodded him on the shoulder.
no subject
He meant it, too; if Roxas really was just the empty shell he'd left behind when he'd lost his heart, why would he look so different? Wouldn't it make sense for Roxas to look like him? Sora chewed on his lip, lost in thought.
"I'm just surprised, that's all. I didn't realize someone could live without a heart."
no subject
The fact that he didn't have a heart weighed on him somewhat, but he knew he didn't experience it in the same way that Axel did.
no subject
Sora reached toward him again, but it's not to prod-- it's to place a comforting hand on Roxas' shoulder. He didn't know what sort of nap he could ever take that would require Roxas merging with him to wake up, but he was going to make a point to avoid it at all costs. He can't feel anything that Roxas feels, nor can he think anything that Roxas does, so why wouldn't he think of him as his own person?
He'd mentioned Naminé. Maybe he could talk to her later to figure out how not to wind up in a situation like Roxas described.
"I don't think you have to worry about merging, Roxas. I don't want to stop you from being your own person, so I'll just take really short naps from now on."
Yeah, that's... probably not how it worked, but it's all Sora's got.
no subject
"Thanks Sora. I'll hold you to that," he said. "Just make sure you get enough sleep."
"Was there anything else you wanted to ask?"
no subject
Sora paused thoughtfully. He did have a few more questions, actually-- most of them involved what appeared to be some sort of connection between Roxas and Ven. But he just ran a hand through his hair. He'd wanted to talk to Roxas to learn more about Roxas, and nothing else.
"Can you tell me more about yourself? Is Axel your friend? And, what's the Organization?"
no subject
"Yeah, Axel's my friend, my best friend," Roxas clarified, "He was the one who found me, and then taught me stuff when I was still a zombie. I remember that everyday when we finished a mission, we would sit on the clock tower in Twilight Town and eat ice cream."
And then he left the Organization and things went sour. Roxas sighed, wishing he could have done things over, and made up with Axel.
no subject
"So what sort of missions did you guys do together? Was it fun?"
no subject
Roxas felt like there was something missing, but he really wasn't sure what. His memories from his time in the Organization were starting to clear up, but some were still just fuzzy.
no subject
Sora has no idea what Roxas meant when he said "collect hearts," but he'd mentioned previously that he releases hearts from the Heartless. Nothing wrong with that! Whatever this Organization is, they must be a band of heroes helping out with the Heartless problem or something. Sora could respect that. Heck, he was even thankful for it.
Oh Sora....
Axel was definitely his closest friend. Some of the other Organization members seemed to like him, like Demyx, but most seemed to just tolerate him. He couldn't really count Hayner, Pence, or Olette, since they were all digital. The real ones probably had no idea who he was.
He survived mostly on his own strength though.
Super Organization 13, awaaaaaay!
Hhhhh, good save, Sora.
"I guess... it doesn't really matter where any of us wind up, as long as we have our friends by our side. And you know, as much as I miss home sometimes, I'm glad I'm here. Somehow, I get the feeling that if things continued happening the way they were supposed to, we wouldn't have had a chance to meet."
no subject
Roxas sometimes ended up wondering about his memories. He didn't think he could trust them all that much. Considering he'd just regained them before coming here.
"When you were here before, you said that we did meet, but it seems like it happened a lot later," Roxas said. "I think it's good that we get to meet like this to."
no subject
That was kind of a long shot, though-- he'd been told that sometimes, when you leave Johto, you forget everything that happened here. And then sometimes you shrink to a year younger than everybody remembers you and you're tossed back in completely unawares.
Still, if there was something Sora could do to prevent what sounded like a really unfair fate, heck, he was going to try. He still stared off down the route as he spoke, and continued doing so after he'd finished.
no subject
Granted, Roxas didn't really have any desire to go back to his world, unless not merging became an option and a guaranteed one at that. It hadn't been something he'd worried about here because of the lack of powers.
"Yeah, maybe. If we could, I'd like that. But for now, I'm alright just being as we are."
no subject
Sora just needed to make sure. It would be strange to know someone who was a part of him, and then they weren't friends.
no subject
"Was there anything else?"
no subject
"I think I'm good. Want to hang back for a while, or go catch up with the others?"
no subject
"Uh, if you want to go on, you can. I think I'm just going to train for a bit," he said finally. He felt like he needed time to think.
