I'm about to switch my style // And soon things may get wild

Who: [livejournal.com profile] wingless_falcon & [livejournal.com profile] heatherusedrage
Where: Goldenrod National Park
When: Early afternoon
Summary: After their respective run-ins with the Joker, Merlin and Heather had planned to practice battling together. They're finally making good on that promise now.
Rating: PG?
Log:

The Goldenrod residents hadn't been kidding when they said the park was huge. Merlin's eyes widened as he took in the neat rows of benches and the carefully kept flowers around him. While the city, with its bright, flashing lights and tall buildings, was a wonder in itself, it only reminded Merlin how much he missed nature.

After a moment of simply absorbing the serenity of the place, he found a bench under a good amount of shade and sat. Cius, his Riolu, scampered up onto the bench after him as he released the rest of his party. "The battle isn't starting yet, but that doesn't mean you can't take a look around while we wait for Heather."

Goldenrod was a big city-- which meant lots of parks. But this one was definitely the biggest. The first thought that hit Heather as she crunched through the snow was 'How the hell do they keep the flowers blooming in the middle of winter?' Then one of the flowers uprooted itself and wandered off to a lady on one of the benches who was already feeding a crowd of other Bellsprouts.

"Oh," Heather mumbled under her breath as she passed.

PokeGear in hand, she double-checked the time that the meeting was supposed to take place-- okay, he should be here by now th-- OH. There he was.

"YO!" she called, lifting a leather-gloved hand and waving to him as she approached.

"Likewise and-- whoa. Hey, little guy."

She came to a halt as the little blue jackal-thing came bounding up to her.

"Never seen one of HIM before."

She hefts her bag, grinning. None of her Pokemon are out of their Balls yet, but they're snugly tucked into the pockets of the pack.

"Nuh uh... guess I haven't been paying enough attention to the network or something."

He was pretty cute, though!

Looked sort of doglike, but the fact that he was so... anthropomorphic automatically made him a little less likely to set off Heather's ohsnapdogs mode.

"'Course not! I don't mind spectators."

She tugged her bag open and started fishing around for Pokeballs. There were a few she definitely wasn't planning on using... Godzilla and Alessa weren't anywhere near battleworthy yet, for one thing...
foolishwren: like what if you tried to sue obama and you just got a letter back saying "no" and he came to your house and did the worm (can you even sue the president)

IT'S OKAY I'VE BEEN SO BAD AT KEEPING UP.

"Uhh..."

She hadn't thought about this much beforehand.

"... Best two outta three?"

Tossing a Pokeball from hand to hand idly, she set her bag down and nudged it to the side where it wouldn't be in the way.

... THAT little thing was gonna fight...? Man, Heather felt sort of bad beating up on a baby. ... Or at least it looked like a baby. But oh well. It looked eager, in any case.

She'd just... refrain from using her stronger Pokemon on it. Sorry, Arty. You don't get to go first.

"All right..."

Pulling a ball out of her bag, she took a few steps back before tossing it up in the air. In a flash of light, a still-knobbly-kneed Ponyta appeared.

"Carousel's only fought wild Pokemon so far. Gotta break the shoes in somehow, right?"
foolishwren: as i was, you shall be (challenge)

"Har har har, clever," Heather groaned, but she was grinning all the same. "Anyway, Carousel's still a baby, so... maybe it'll be a good match?"

The Ponyta definitely still had that gangly foal look.

"She's in her teens."

Shaking her head with a whicker, the filly stepped forward and stretched her neck out to sniff Merlin's hand. Though she too was a fire Pokemon, she didn't seem anywhere near as... well, to put it bluntly, stupid as Cujo.
