✘ and I'll try~ oh lord, I'll try~ to CAAAAAAARRY onnnn! xO
Who: Zack Fair; OPEN. Separate threads, one thread, I'm up for whatever.
Where: Cherrygrove outskirts.
When: Around 9 PM.
Summary: Zack has one last wild encounter before finally dragging his sorry ass into Cherrygrove City, where he will probably crash and burn at the first available opportunity.
Rating: PG, probably. Subject to change.
"Man, I'm beat..."
"...tiiini!"
"Heh. Yeah, no kidding."
The conversation between man and dragon was beginning to thin out. It had been a long, taxing week and a half -- and not just for the SOLDIER, who was still struggling to cope with the sudden and disheartening disappearance of his inhuman strength. Angela, the infallible little dragon, had been putting every ounce of her excess energy to good use. The duo had taken out what had seemed like an alarmingly sizable chunk of the local bird and raccoon population... but the creatures always came back, incessantly and, in some cases, aggressive.
The 7-foot long blue beast weaved through his legs from time to time as they made their way through the homestretch to Cherrygrove, chirping and whirring from time to time. The momentum of battle and the delirium of exhaustion had drawn out a bizarre mood from the both of them... and he found himself stopping in the middle of the sigh, interrupted by the shrill squeal of his pokemon.
The dark-haired man flinched reflexively with a shout, thinking he had stepped on Angela's tail. But the dragon's attention was not on her trainer -- it was on a small, brown, spherical bird that was staring rather intently back at the two of them.
Puuffing out his chest and giving it a wily grin, that second wind swept through him as he dug around in his backpack, fishing out one of the Pokeballs, which had been untouched prior.
The process had gone by surprisingly quickly. A couple of minutes in a dragon's stranglehold was more than enough to whittle down the unsuspecting owl's defenses. The animal was caught with relative ease, though Angela had taken a nasty blow to the snout in the process.
Putting the occupied Pokeball away, he contended that he would give the Hoothoot a more thorough examination after everybody had gotten some rest. For now, however, the town was in sight and the Dratini was reminding him of it with a loud whine.
"Alright, kiddo, alright..."

Lol Shellder...Vexen thinks he's dumb ;A; <3
"Hnn..." It was quite large...and it was kinda dark so he had to squint. It was rather 'cute' actually; it fit the definition of that word pretty well.
That's when he noticed Zack as well. He shook Shellder off of him, who only returned a second later, looking up at him with rather sad eyes. Vexen glanced down at it and let it stay put. He may feel compassion for the thing if he had the ability to.
He was about to tell Zack that he'd gotten in the way but then he remembered he was supposed to make friends out here to keep his cover. So...instead he managed to greet him.
"Hello...I'm Vexen." His eyes kept wandering back to the long blue dragon. What kind of pokemon was that...
ffff ;-; <33
"Zack Fair! SOLDIER, 1st Class. Nice to meet ya."
Now that he thought about it, this guy was the oldest trainer he'd come to meet in Johto. He was almost sure the population was about 98% ankle-biters...
Poor Shellder...once it levels up more it'll gain more respect :D
He reached his own hand out to meet Zack's in a comfortable grasp and shook it elegantly before releasing.
"Soldier, may I inquire as to what that is?" Perhaps it was another organization like his own or the rockets.
[He's not old! He's full of youth!! D8]
I luff Shellder. THEY ARE SO PERFCET TOGETHER.
Force of habit. He recalled the days when he was proud to recite that title every time he introduced himself to somebody -- anybody -- new. But in Johto, it meant nothing.
"It was an elite fighting force in the place I come from." Now he was muttering. "The best of the best." Monsters. And the worst kind.
"Anyway, yeah. You can just call me Zack." The dark-haired man nodded in the direction of Dratini.
"... That's Angela."
[HE IS YOUNG AT HEART. ... wait. :|]
Omg I know! They're like 8D Soulmates!!!
"The best of the best? Most impressive. Zack then." An elite fighter. Perhaps he would make a decent friend in the long run. He should do his best to be hospitible.
"Angela? May I register the data into my pokedex?"
[
fffff...poor Vexy]Vexen'll be all *3* sparkley-eyed when it evolves!
Interlacing his fingers behind his head and crossing his ankles in a more relaxed stance, he watched the Dratini interact with her new acquaintance.
"She sure seems interested in your pal there."
And she most certainly did. The blue dragon continued to give experimental bumps and nudges to the Shellder's outer ridge.
Definitely :D
"It seems so. Although I'm not sure how anyone would enjoy to be...licked by him."
This was the first encounter Shellder had had with any 'domestically trained' pokemon. He had no idea how anything else would react to him.
"Out of curiosity, what abilities does your pokemon know?" He pulled out his pokedex and booted it up before registering Dratini's information and then looking back up at Zack for the answer to his question.
no subject
He crouched beside his partner and scratched the softer skin behind a white fin.
"So far, she's got three moves under her belt. First, she likes to give 'em a dirty look. 'Leer', I think it's called. Then she puts 'em in a stranglehold and paralyzes them with an electric shock. Those maneuvers have been working well enough for us so far."
Zack flipped open his own PokeDex and gave Vexen a quizzical look.
"Do you mind if I clock in yours, too? I've never seen one of these before."
no subject
"Yes of course." Just speaking to people seemed an easy way to gather information.
"An electric shock? So this pokemon is of an electrical element or it just has the ability to learn such moves?"
"Shellder is of a water element, however it doesn't seem to have the ability to produce water as of yet. I'm assuming that it needs to gain more experience in order to learn such things."
no subject
A gloved finger hit the detection button on his Dex, which flickered to life and began to upload Shellder's basic data. Puffing out his cheeks in a stifled, impatient sigh, he gave Angela an affectionate nudge of his boot heel.
"Yeah, dude. Kick beat up the small fry around here for a while and I'm sure the little guy will surprise you."
no subject
He watched Zack with amused eyes as he puffed his cheeks out, what would it be like if he did an action such as that? Probably quite awkward. He shant attempt it.
"I'm hoping he will have some surprises in store, since he really hasn't done much so far." He looked down at Shellder. He was growing as fond of him as he could and he managed a small smile in it's direction. Hopefully it will gain some intelligence as well.
in my head, vexen is now making poofy cheeks.
Zack glanced down at the Dratini, who was in the middle of teething at one of Shellder's spikes.
"Maybe they could help each other. You know? What kind of moves has Shellder learned so far?"
XD baha Vexen~<3.
"Since I've met it it seems to be able to tackle, and to withdraw into it's shell for defense. Most recently though it seems it's learned to make a high pitched noise that confuses it's opponents.
fffff you're making me wanna app a kh character. T-T
"He's got a lotta' potential! Can't wait to see what he can do with water. Maybe we can have a match on the beach?"
doo eet 8D!!!
"I've yet to have him battle another trained pokemon. It would be an interesting match indeed." He grinned, that was a yes on his behalf, Shellder may just have fun.
"Shall we head down there then?"
/ffff nervous fidget
He slumped slightly, giving the back of his head a sheepish rub with an embarrassed smile.
"... Could we postpone that 'til tomorrow? Angie's all tuckered out from --"
-- In which the Dratini gave his kneecap a painful nip.
"... Alright. Alright. I'm all tuckered out from training today. But I can DEFINITELY guarantee you a match for tomorrow."
*poke poke* [<
Shellder hopped over to sit on Vexen's feet, it seemed to like to try and get very close however Vexen shifted away so Shellder was forced to just stay beside him. Physical contact was not something he was used to.
"When shall we meet? And will this beach be the location?"
sdlfkjsdf does this game REALLY need Larxene stomping around? DDDDx
"Sure. Sounds good to us." He glanced down to Angela again, who had only followed Shellder over to Vexen's side to continue her pointless harassment. Sigh.
"Meetcha at the shoreline?"
Oh yes XD yes it does~
"Yes, how would you feel about 10am as a time of meeting? Too early?" He wasn't sure what time other people woke in the morning, he tended not to sleep a lot.
OH GODDD /)_(\ /o-opens app format
Another nudge of his boot was given to the Dratini, but Angela didn't take the hint. She just couldn't get a ruse out of that Shellder, no matter how she bumped and prodded! Harumph.
"So. Ten AM on the seashore. Deal?" Zack extended his hand one last time. It was just like making any other appointment or promise. Why not shake on it?
8DDDD
"Yes...deal." Strange way to use that word. He looked at Zack's hand and hesitated for only a split moment before extending his own and shaking to seal the agreement.
MUSE IS SCREAMING NOOOOOOOOOOO
"Uh... Great. I'll be seein' ya, then?"
LOL Vexen most certainly does not want to have to deal with Larxene
He gave a small smile and nodded curtly once before turning to take his leave, Shellder hopping along behind him obediently.
@__@ NOBODY DOES. she is an evil beast.
"Ah, well. We should go, too, Angie..."
.____. Larxene stay away! XD
Shellder continued to make strange noises and hop around...perhaps it had made a new friend as well. It would definitely be looking forward to tomorrow's match.
