(no subject)

Who: Juudai and Yubel
Where: Ecruteak Inn
When: Morning of February 14th
Summary: Mostly fluff-snark, and two lovers getting along in the way that they do. Also, surprises to be had.
Rating: PG-ish, I guess. Maybe a little higher if they start getting more physical than kissing, but I doubt it.
Log:

It was about ten AM, an hour reasonably late enough for all the sane, productive people to be awake.

Juudai was not one of those people; not today, anyway. Sometimes, maybe he could manage being a sane, productive person, but today, he just didn't feel like it. He shifted, somewhere in the layers of tumbled sheets and hotel pillows, just enough to figure out the other side of the bed was vacant. Yubel was up, apparently, doing who the hell knew what. But still, he thought, even if she was up, he should be allowed to sleep in every once in a while.

...Valentine's Day or not.

Not like she wouldn't come pester him and drag him out into the waking world eventually. It was just a matter of time, so until then, he was going to stubbornly lay there and conserve all the energy he could.

Yubel had spent most of her waking time that day trying to make chocolate. She'd been up since just before the sun to get started and had finally succeeded. Well, in all truth, she'd succeeded earlier. It was making edible chocolate that she'd finally triumphed at, and with a bag in tow, she entered their room and made a beeline for Juudai.

"Juudai!" She prodded his neck with the tips of her fingers. "Time to get up!"

Yubel knew Juudai sometimes better than he knew himself and she knew he was more than ready to get up. He just didn't want to right now. Well, that wasn't going to work.

She didn't waste her time with threats, though. She eyed where his head was, then worked two fingers in, searching for his ear. One or two good thumps there should at least get him talking to her.

Yubel stood back, hands on her hips, and smirked at him. "Of course I knew you weren't sleeping. Did you really think I wouldn't?" She grinned even more. As if that had anything to do with getting him up when he needed to be up.

She didn't look at her bag of chocolate just yet, though. He'd get it, when she was ready for him to get it.

Yubel would have much preferred to have her own true form back, but since that didn't appear to be possible here, she made do with what she had.

Oh, so he thought he knew, hm? She looked forward to surprising him. "I know you've heard about this holiday today." He probably knew more about it than she did, though she doubted he'd really cared that much before now. For many reasons.

Yubel hadn't heard about the getting murdered part, but suffering for love was something she understood in her bones. She decided she liked this holiday just a bit more because of that.

She reached over and picked up the bag, offering it to Juudai. "I made this for you." Her voice was a touch gruff when she spoke, but she could only hope that he liked it. She'd certainly tried her best.

Yubel seldom admitted she was nervous or bothered by anything. A guardian couldn't let on what they felt most of the time. But she was nervous about Juudai's reaction.

Miniature chocolate roses were inside the bag, a dozen of them. She'd always had an affinity for flowers, and when she'd found miniature chocolate rose molds, she'd bought them at once. They at least looked all right and she hoped they tasted all right.

Yubel's eyes twinkled with mischief at him. "Of course I did." She paused only for a heartbeat, for the effect of it. "The secret ingredient is arsenic."

She couldn't help but laugh at that. He knew her so well, after all. "Well, maybe next time." She grinned; cooking wasn't her forte at all, but that was why she'd worked so hard on these chocolates.

Yubel eyed it for a moment, then accepted it, sniffing at it. It did smell somewhat good, she guessed. She hadn't tasted it herself. He likes them, she reminded herself, and began to lick around the rose petals.

And indeed, if anyone had ever tried to poison him in truth, Yubel would shred them into unrecognizable bits.

Yubel shrugged as she licked the petals some more. It really was kind of good. Maybe not something she'd want on a regular basis, but for a treat, yes.

"I was talking to someone on the 'gears and making something for you started to sound interesting. It's not as if I need a special day to tell you I love you, you know. But making something for you..." That wasn't something she did every day, and never would.

Yubel smiled a little, feeling the heat of his fingers against her. "Then I'm glad I could surprise you." That only said a small part of what she really felt. While she longed for the complete union of their souls that this place denied them, being separate did give the chance for surprises like this.
