Who: Juudai and Yubel
Where: Ecruteak Inn
When: Morning of February 14th
Summary: Mostly fluff-snark, and two lovers getting along in the way that they do. Also, surprises to be had.
Rating: PG-ish, I guess. Maybe a little higher if they start getting more physical than kissing, but I doubt it.
Log:
It was about ten AM, an hour reasonably late enough for all the sane, productive people to be awake.
Juudai was not one of those people; not today, anyway. Sometimes, maybe he could manage being a sane, productive person, but today, he just didn't feel like it. He shifted, somewhere in the layers of tumbled sheets and hotel pillows, just enough to figure out the other side of the bed was vacant. Yubel was up, apparently, doing who the hell knew what. But still, he thought, even if she was up, he should be allowed to sleep in every once in a while.
...Valentine's Day or not.
Not like she wouldn't come pester him and drag him out into the waking world eventually. It was just a matter of time, so until then, he was going to stubbornly lay there and conserve all the energy he could.

"Juudai!" She prodded his neck with the tips of her fingers. "Time to get up!"

More than likely, though, he was just being obstinate to be a pain as opposed to genuinely being tired enough to keep sleeping.

She didn't waste her time with threats, though. She eyed where his head was, then worked two fingers in, searching for his ear. One or two good thumps there should at least get him talking to her.

"Ow, ow, ow! Dammit! Alright, alright!"
With a great deal of exaggeration, he rolled out of bed and landed on his rear, sitting up ruefully and running a hand through his hair. "I wasn't really sleeping, you know," he said, feigning irritation and starting to stand up, "but damn, it's cold once you get out of the nice warm sheets..."

She didn't look at her bag of chocolate just yet, though. He'd get it, when she was ready for him to get it.

Looking down at her instead of up, though, would never cease to be an odd thing to him.

Oh, so he thought he knew, hm? She looked forward to surprising him. "I know you've heard about this holiday today." He probably knew more about it than she did, though she doubted he'd really cared that much before now. For many reasons.

"...Okay, so maybe I have. It's a day when some guy got murdered or something, and everybody thinks it's romantic for some reason," Juudai acquiesced, then shrugged. "And chocolate and flowers and cards got thrown into the mix at some point, too."

She reached over and picked up the bag, offering it to Juudai. "I made this for you." Her voice was a touch gruff when she spoke, but she could only hope that he liked it. She'd certainly tried her best.

Miniature chocolate roses were inside the bag, a dozen of them. She'd always had an affinity for flowers, and when she'd found miniature chocolate rose molds, she'd bought them at once. They at least looked all right and she hoped they tasted all right.

"Hope they taste as nice as they look, hehe. I hate to eat something so pretty, though," he said, only really half-joking. He pulled the bag back and nibbled on one of the chocolate petals, taking a moment to deliberate, but quickly making his final decision apparent when he smiled at her warmly. "Yeah, it's chocolate, all right. Unless you added a secret ingredient I should know about?"

"Liar."

Juudai looked thoughtful for a moment after that, then pulled out one of the flowers and offered it to her. "Hey, you should try these too, they're good. I think you've earned your share of some, anyway. And if I have to get poisoned by them, so do you." He grinned his taunting grin again. He knew what she'd probably try to do to anyone who tried to poison him for real, though, and it would involve varying amounts of pain and death, among other unpleasantries.

And indeed, if anyone had ever tried to poison him in truth, Yubel would shred them into unrecognizable bits.

"What spurred this, anyway? Did you just suddenly decide you wanted to play along with the holiday?" he asked between bites. She was like him; when they decided they wanted to do something, they did it, come hell or high water.

"I was talking to someone on the 'gears and making something for you started to sound interesting. It's not as if I need a special day to tell you I love you, you know. But making something for you..." That wasn't something she did every day, and never would.
