Who: Beyond Birthday, Light Yagami and Mikami Teru
Where: Cherrygrove City
When: Backdated to the evening of the 25th
Summary: BB and Light meet for the first time. Accusations fly.
Rating: PG-13
Log: The dead are amongst us.
Light isn't pleased at all. According to the information Mikami had given him, Beyond Birthday was already in Cherrygrove City, and given L's dogged insistence on pretending that he had absolutely no ability to reason like a rational human being, Light felt as though he had no choice left. Perhaps it was a sign that fate was on his side then, that L had fallen into some sort of coma-- one that Light had secretly hoped he would not awaken from-- the week he was planning his separation from the detective forever.
Working quickly, just in case L did wake up, he gathered his belongings and carefully placed them into his backpack. He winces when Eevee refuses to enter his pokeball, as he half expected the detective to spontaneously wake up and greet him with a deadpan expression. Mercifully, that does not happen, and Light gives his room one final glance to check for any missing items. He would leave L to pay for the bill. Clearly, he had more than enough money. With no regrets, he turns the doorknob...

"Hello, Light Yagami."

With surprising speed, he slips through the gap and lets the strength of Yagami's own push close the door. Without his usual creepily wide stare, his eyes are narrow and overtly calculating, and he looks like he's come ready to inflict pain.
So this is Light Yagami, he thinks, moving to block the door. A pretty boy who comes out with the most charming fakery Beyond's ever seen, with utterly cold eyes when he thinks no one can see. Clearly a genius, and the object of something like worship from Mikami.
Beyond isn't impressed.

With an expression of forced calm, though he can't quite erase traces of contempt, he maintains his hold on the doorknob, determined not to back down from the intrusive freak.
"Rue-san, was it? You gave me quite the surprise. But if you'll excuse me."

"And what business do you have with me, Rue-san?"

"I apologize. Perhaps I have not made my point clear to you." He begins softly with a perfectly vague patronizing smile.
"Either state your business with me, or I will be leaving."

As threats go, it's less than subtle, but he's not really concerned with this at the moment.

He reviews his options. He could use L to defend himself. If he remembered correctly, Eevee was immune to ghost attacks, but unfortunately the reverse was true as well. Additionally, if Gastly were to use hypnosis, then Eevee would be rendered absolutely worthless. Garbage. ...No, Light corrects himself. Magikarp were garbage.
So then what? Did he even have a choice anymore? He couldn't believe he was thinking this, when only a few moments earlier he had been hoping for the opposite. Goddamn it L, wake up!!
"Surely, you don't intend on causing a scene in this hotel."

Slowly, reluctantly, he removes his hand from the doorknob, but defiantly remains standing. This is about as far as Light was willing to compromise.
"Talk."

"Threatening me won't change the truth."

"Very amusing, but I've already told you the truth."

"Then what's wrong with him?"
no subject
"Your guess is as good as mine, but I assure you I had no part in this."

"Yes." His tone is firm, perhaps overly so, as he attempts to indicate nonverbally that the conversation is over.

"Then you won't mind waiting here until he can confirm that himself."
