I will get her something cute and fuzzy and non-homicidal one day
Who: Rise and OPEN
Where: Route 35, just past Goldenrod City
When: March 2, Wednesday evening
Summary: What do baby slugs evolve into? I am also okay with action or prose, though I'll move a lot faster if it's action.
Rating: PGdrfjkdfjkdf
Log:
Rise's movements were a little slower than usual as she shifted her weight from foot to foot, waiting for Shoelace to finish his exploration of the tall grass. ... Which just so happened to be taller than the Shellos was, but she could hear his happy noises from time to time, and his delight made her smile. Slimy thing or not, Rise couldn't bring herself to dislike something that loved her so wholeheartedly and was always doing his best to make her smile. She just felt bad that, with the whole Rocket base break-in, she hadn't had as much time to train him. And of course she hadn't used him in the battle against that thief last night. Kanzeon was still sulking over that, and Rise's back had (as she'd expected) been bruised. But at least the police had been alerted.
"It's not over yet," she said aloud, and it was true. Things had been much worse before, and the team had gotten through it in one piece. It was about time to stop moping over everything that had happened since Valentine's Day.
It was also about time to stop getting lost in her thoughts, because a sharp squeal emitted from the grass.
"Shoelace?!" Conveniently forgetting that the sea slug was more than ten levels above the Pokémon in the area, Rise looked about frantically. She really couldn't see him in this grass, but if she looked for where the rustling was--
... or if she looked in the direction of the white light that lit up the area... yeah, that worked too.
And so it was that Rise Kujikawa saw exactly what Shoelace had evolved into.
A three-foot slug with viking horns and a third eye.
Silence. Rise's eyes glazed over in reminiscence of the first time her Oddish had evolved. Then she shook her head, took a deep breath--
... she also toppled over, as Shoelace enthusiastically lunged at his trainer so she could properly admire his new form.
"Ugh-- Sh-- Shoelace, calm down, you're too heavy!!" And he looked even slimier than before.
Gokudera would never let her hear the end of this.

...why hasn't anyone tagged this? >:
Maybe a little warning next time? [Merlin's grinning at the pokemon, not too concerned with the slime since he isn't wearing the jacket Miles gave him or the scarf from Minnie]
life happens <3
My hero!
[ this is also Shoelace's cue to make happy noises at new people and give Cius a nudge of greeting as he's pulled off. ]
true!
Cius begins chattering at Shoelace--essentially repeating "hello"--even as Merlin offers a hand to help Rise up. His smile widens] Congratulations on the evolution, by the way.

Thanks... it's probably pretty obvious, but it looks like he's outgrown his bucket.

[...]
[he straightens, and begins the trek over to investigate-- he may or may not nearly be tripped up as Zero zooms by right in front of his path.]

Shoelace straightens and makes a distinctly pleased noise for a giant slug, though he has yet to actually move off his trainer.
Who is unfortunately only thirty pounds heavier than he is, anyway. ]
Shoelace...

... J-just great.

I should've known he wouldn't have stayed small. Never hurts to hope, though.

[plus Shoelace is the only slug he's seen around Johto, period. that makes Rise the only person in Johto that he knows of to be squashed by a giant slug!]
