Yesterday was Tuesday
Who: Kyo and Tohru
Where: Route 29 (Midway point)
When: March 23rd, Wednesday afternoon
Summary: After finding out that Tohru is in Johto Kyo demanded to come get her. Tohru offered to meet him halfwaymore like one quarter of the way! REUNION!
Rating: PG-13; Some mild profanity may ensue if Kyo gets worked up
Log: It hadn't been easy making the trip through the tall grass alone. Tohru was even more delayed than she should have been mostly because she didn't have the heart to have Chika-chan attack Pokemon that jumped out at her (not that there had been many) and she also didn't do too well at running away, being a clutz. There was a close call at one point, and she'd given up a bit of her food to a wild Sentret (which was now secretly stalking her), yet finally the pair made it!
Tohru put her hands on her knees and let out a breath of accomplished relief before straightening up.
"Alright, Chika-chan! We did it! We made it halfway! I'll bet at this rate we'll be out the other side by the time Kyo-kun gets here!"
Chika-chan responded happily. So long as Tohru was happy then he was happy, though he didn't know anything about this Kyo-kun person she kept talking about. A friend of his trainer was a friend of his, though, for sure!
Unless, you know, that friend turned out to be kind of a jerk, because then they would feel Chika-chan's vine-whippy wrath. His trainer was the best, no one better mess with her! She didn't even try to make him stay in his ball! One wibbly-eyed look at the thing had her wrapped around it's little finger-- so to speak.
"I hope he didn't have to come far. I'd hate to think I was holding him up from something important." Tohru fretted a bit, easing to sit on the open patch of ground at the base of one of the ledges, giving her a chance to rest finally.

tomorrow is thursday
After some random encounters with wild Pokémon (which he easily defeated with his much higher-leveled team), he grew nearer to where Tohru was. Tohru... Had it really been almost a month since he'd seen her? It seemed intangible somehow, like he couldn't grasp it. He had focused so much on training to keep his mind off of her cheerful smile and gentle presence. As for the others back home? He hadn't missed them much. In a way, Johto was a much better place than home.
"C'mon, Cat, keep up." Cat dragged his paws across the ground, exhausted from the several runs they had taken. Who was this girl to him, anyway? Sure, he was excited to see her, but still! He'd never seen his trainer so determined, even during their vigorous training sessions. When he spotted the brunette, though, he brightened. With a happy meow -- 'Meowth!' -- he ran up to the girl and began to rub against her legs. The weird plant-thing went ignored for the time being. Hopefully she wouldn't mind his frantic leg-rubbing like that one girl Claire!
Kyo came after his Meowth. He jogged up to where she was sitting (maybe not anymore) and tried to fight back a smile of relief and gladness. It didn't work.
"Tohru..."
Re: tomorrow is thursday
"Oh!" She startled, looking down at the bundle of warmth with a bright smile. She reached down began to pet it affectionately, earning a suspicious glare from Chika-chan that seemed to relax after realizing Meowth didn't mean harm. Still. TOHRU WAS HIS TRAINER! D8< "Oh my goodness! You're so cute!"
Kyo arrived then, to where Tohru had just reached to pick up Cat and stand, assuming it would let her of course, but even if she'd been bitten, clawed, and scratched before by felines it never stopped her from loving them and trying to be friendly. Her eyes widened a bit, finally seeing Kyo in person again, immediately lightning up brightly. That he was smiling at her so happily only made hers that much more so.
"Kyo-kun!!! I'm so happy to see you!"
Chikorita looked up at this new person with a starry eyed expression. Ohhhhhhhh! SO THIS was "Kyo-kun!"

"Hey, you just saw me a couple days ago, right?" He said, referring to both the video feed and when she was back at Shigure's. "Are you and your Pokémon okay?" He inspects the strange leaf-creature. "What is it, anyway?"
no subject
She was genuinely excited, resisting the urge to hug him since she remembered the curse and who knew who might be around or watching in public?
"Oh! We're alright! Right, Chika-chan?"
Tohru, still holding Cat, looked to her POkemon with a smile. It was too cute the way that he puffed up when Kyo took notice of him.
"I fed one of them and it left us alone, and the repel really worked! We didn't have to come very far, though."
Tohru glanced back the way they'd come for proof, then at Kyo again to answer him. She was going through a typical range of emotions for her, curiosity and excitement, but mostly excitement.
"The recorder said he was a Chikorita, level five! What about yours? It's so sweet!" She gave Cat a very gentle squeeze, nuzzling her head against his a little bit.
no subject
"You fed one of the wild Pokémon?" He brought his hand up to his face, brushing back his bangs in a semi-facepalm. "It's probably following you now. What was it?" Did she ever learn not to feed the wildlife?
"He's called a Meowth. He's level 21 now." He glanced down at the three Pokéballs at his belt. "You probably want to see my other Pokémon, huh." He didn't necessarily want to get them out, but they'd probably like Tohru. Maybe they'd be more tame around him now that Tohru was here.
no subject
She looked both concerned and sheepishly flustered at that. "Oh! Um, I used my Pokedex to find out what it was. Is there a way to see it on there...?"
Tohru freed one hand to pull it out without having to disturb Cat. She then held it up to try to figure out how to work it. Now how did it go again? A couple of seconds of poking on the device with her thumb-- somehow managing not to drop it (Tohru was so not accustomed to using hand held electronics that it wasn't funny. Not dropping it was a miracle.) in the process --Tohru eventually managed to pull up the one she'd seen last.
"Um... Ah! Here! It was a Sentret! See?"
Just in case he couldn't see without her turning it towards him the brunette did exactly that.
"Oh! I would love to see them!"

Kyo pulled the first ball off of his belt and pressed the center button to enlarge it. "Bet you saw a lot of these." His tone of voice is somewhat sarcastic, and there is an expression on his face that isn't exactly a happy one. A beam of translucent red light shines and a Rattata burst out with its angry cry, 'Rattata!'
Kyo braces himself for an attack, and then realizes that his Rattata might think he was called for battle. His eyes widen as he watches Rattata bound towards Tohru's Chikorita, the only Pokémon target he saw. 'Rattata!'
"Damn Rat! Get back here!"

fierce battleencounter. She really did have a LOT to learn.Tohru's eyes lit up when Kyo pulled out a Pokeball, getting ready to show her his first-- OH DEAR GOODNESS!
Chikorita was busy still staring up at Kyo in a bit of wonder (How could it not after hearing so many wonderful things about him in the last day and a half? Kyo was like, AMAZING AND COULD DO ANYTHING. EVEN WRESTLE BEARS, whatever bears were.), and didn't realize what was going on until Kyo said something about a damn rat? What?
"EH?!"
no subject
Noticeably pissed, Kyo called the Rattata back into his ball. "Stupid rat! He always pulls this dumb crap." He clips the ball back onto his belt. "My other Pokémon are like that, too. They always attack me. I thought Rat would at least like you, but he was too stupid to notice you were even there."
no subject
The irony of it wasn't lost on Tohru. At least here the cat had the advantage over the rat, but for the moment she was too distracted to notice.
Well, okay, she did at least notice that Cat was just as protective of her as his trainer. She brought her hands up to her mouth quickly in a show of concern, eyes wide. Still, she'd gotten a bit used to Yuki's and Kyo's fighting, eventually she'd get used to the idea of Pokemon fighting, especially if she ever got to see how some of them enjoyed it. Chikorita looked at Meowth wide eyed too, then with a grateful cry he bounded over and rubbed it's head against the cat Pokemon.
Tohru was torn between trying to reassure Kyo, thanking Meowth, and worrying about everyone being okay. It showed as she looked quickly between the remaining Pokemon and Kyo and around them as if some solution would show up out of no where. WHAT TO DO FIRST?!
"N-No! It's okay! I mean, no, that's terrible! Is it going to be okay?!"
no subject
Kyo watched this idly and looked back at Tohru. He was largely unconcerned for the rat's well-being. "He's fine. Cat just knocked him out of the way and scratched him a bit. Hardly any damage done." Meowth seemed to frown at that. Man, and he thought he had taken him out! "The others won't be so violent." Hopefully. Violent towards him maybe, but not towards anyone else. Even with all their training, they still didn't listen to him. It was probably because he trained them too much and too hard and didn't give them any attention outside of that. Certainly the only one he showed some affection towards -- or at least put up with -- was Cat.
A little reluctantly, he took the second ball off his belt and summoned the Pokémon from within it. Before them flopped a Magikarp, babbling his own name like... well, like a Magikarp. "This isn't a battle, idiot. I hope you know better than that damn rat." Carp raised one fish eye to look at Kyo and thought about attacking him. He knew tackle now, after all! And someday he wouldn't be so useless and would get his revenge! What kind of trainer tried to eat their Pokémon, anyway?! But Cat quickly interfered before he could. He arched his back in a warning and hissed, 'You hear him! Don't do anything stupid! Be nice to the lady and the Chikorita, okay?! Don't embarrass him, I think he likes her!' Even though the Meowth was one of the culprits who had tried to eat him, he looked at Tohru and saw that she wasn't a bad guy. Carp was partial to girls, after all. So he just sort of flopped there.
no subject
"Um, o-okay.... Cat! That's his name, right?" She looked at Kyo for confirmation, then back, smiling and bowing formally. "Thank you for protecting Chika-chan!"
By the time she straightened again Kyo was calling out his next Pokemon. Chika-chan grinned and was decidedly very happy to meet Meowth, what a stand up
guyPokemon! It was surprised though. Kyo liked Tohru? Really?? WELL that wasn't surprising because she was awesome too.
Hey, if HE was awesome and SHE was awesome, shouldn't they go together? Like... like something really awesome and something else really awesome?
'Really? You think? But how can you tell?'
Chikorita hadn't been around very long, after all, especially around trainers like their two. By the time Chika-chan turned his attention back to Tohru she was kneeling next to Magikarp looking a bit frantic to put it mildly.
"K-Kyo-kun! We need to get it into water! Water!? It's suffocating!"
no subject
"Yeah, I call him Cat. He doesn't deserve a real name until he evolves." He cast his Meowth a hardened look. No, Kyo doesn't appreciate his Pokémon very much, does he. Cat pretended to ignore him and answered Chika instead. 'He never smiles at anyone like that. He doesn't like a whole lot of people, but he ran all the way to here to see her! That means something, right?'
At Tohru's (typical) reaction, Kyo just rubbed his head and frowned. "He may live in the water, but he doesn't need to now. How else do you think I battle with him?" Kyo wasn't going to go swimming and battling at the same time, okay. The Magikarp seemed to appreciate her concern, however, and gave her a drawn-out 'Kaaaarp.' "Better put him back though, just in case." And so, giving them another moment to get acquainted, he calls him back. "That was Carp the Magikarp. He'll evolve into something called a Gyarados, which is supposed to be really big." No one wanted to show or describe one to him other than that, so that's all he knew.
There's only one ball left, now, and he hesitates. He pulls some rubber gloves out of his pack and begrudgingly puts them on.
"I got this next one from Kisa as an egg. He just hatched Sunday." Out of the ball comes what appears to be a light blue and yellow lion cub, glowing gently. 'Shii!' It cries. 'Shii, Shii!' Shinx hated being cooped up in that little Pokéball. He was just a baby, after all. It was dark and scary and he had to glow in order to feel somewhat safe. And it hated Kyo for putting him in there. The Shinx looked up at Tohru with big eyes, wondering who she was. She was the first person he'd seen except for Kyo.

Wait... what (It was enough to distract her momentarily, her hand hovering over Cat's head as if she had been about to pet him again.)?
"You... eh?"
Tohru's. Eyes. Lit. UP.
"AH! It's so cute!" Good thing for Tohru that Cat was tangled around her legs, so she couldn't go rushing to pick up the baby to bring up to her face and rub noses with. BUT SHE WANTED TO! It was just so adorable! She beamed at it brightly from where she was standing. "Hello! It's very nice to meet you!"

Kyo stood there watching them, arms crossed. He didn't dare shock Tohru... right?
OhGodshe'sgoingtopickitup.
Chikorita watched both curious and excited.

"Eh?"
And then a familiar pair of ears perked up out of the grass, a hungry Sentret peering out at them with a wiggling nose.
too bad she didn't! :P
"That's probably the Sentret." He looked to Tohru. "What do you want to do with it?"
I'm sure she'll get shocked another time soon, there there.
"Eh? Um, well I... I would like to be friends with it!" She answered honestly, but looked back to the grass wondering how that was possible when she couldn't even catch it earlier. Chikorita was already standing next to her protectively.

Somehow.
"Ah! I mean, that is to say, I did try! I threw one of the Pokeballs at it but it didn't work! So I gave it some food to apologize and left!"
She felt so much better getting that off of her chest! Too bad it didn't really help the situation as it was.

Cat and Shock walked a little closer and sat down next to each other, eager to watch the upcoming battle.

Chikorita was observing with an innocent stare similar to it's trainers at the moment, curious and eager to please. When he told Tohru what to do Chikorita looked to her curiously.
By that time Sentret had emerged from the grass and was eying the group as if debating if they had food or if it should run.
"Um, alright! I'll try!"
Tohru looked at Chikorita, only peeking at Sentret for a moment, a little guiltily.
"C-Chika-chan, use... tackle!"
Chikorita was much less hesitant than his trainer, and before Tohru could realize that she was staring at an empty spot it had rammed into the Sentret with a fierce cry.
Of course at their levels the damage wasn't likely to be all that impressive, so much as Chika-chan had an emphasis on speed so it LOOKED cooler than it probably was. Tohru was too surprised by it to immediately register guilt as the hit connected.
"EH?! C-Chika-chan is so fast!"
no subject
"All right, looks like another tackle or two should do it! Then you can throw the Pokéball at it. Watch out though, Sentret's going to fight back."
no subject
"C-CHIKA-CHAN!"
So much for staying composed. Oh, so much work set out ahead of him, Kyo had! Chikorita had gotten stubbornly back to it's feet though.
orz sorry about the late tag. i kind of disappeared from rp world for a while there.
As long as everything is okay! D: <3
Chikorita wasn't willing to give up. Tohru wanted Sentret to be on their team so Chikorita was going to give it his best shot no matter what. It stubbornly charged again. Tohru didn't seem sure so it just went for it. When Sentret attacked the second time Chikorita just dodged, even without Tohru warning it to look out (which she did). It must have been a critical hit, because Sentret didn't seem quite as quick to get up the next time.
yeah, i think i'm just being super lazy, ff.
'Looks like she'll keep on giving you food, too,' Cat observed, adding onto Chika-chan's persuasive technique.
You deserve it! After all it is FRIDAY FRIDAY! GETTIN' DOWN ON FRIDAY! :DDDD
"Uh, huh?! Oh, right! O-Of course!"
Tohru grabbed her bag and looked for a Pokeball, thankfully she'd had the good sense to move them to a front pocket after the first failed attempt-- even if she'd had no plan on trying again thisso soon. She pushed the button like the manual instructed and looked at the two Pokemon with her "I AM RESOLVED!!!" face. Sentret just stared at her for a moment because it remembered what happened last time and-- WHACK!
It was considerably less painful than being repeatedly tackled, though, so when the red beam of translucent light shot out and pulled it into the ball it was more than ready to just rest for a while. The ball shook only a little before a click indicated that the seal had taken.
There was just a moment when Tohru stared blinking at the Pokeball, and then realization hit. "You.... You did it! Chika-chan that was amazing!" Tohru cheered excitedly, pumping her fists. She turned to Kyo with a bright smile, feeling pretty proud and accomplished for finally catching their first Pokemon. "Kyo-kun! Thank you!!!"
Then she finally went to pick up the Pokeball as well as Chikorita, which squeed happily in it's own way and nuzzled her face affectionately. She'd get them both healed up right away and then everyone could rest! Once again she turned her smile to Kyo.
