[ to be fair, Karkat hadn't been in a great amount of pain this week. something he has noticed, though, is that his clothes are just not fitting quite right. feels sort of like it's a thing that just happened, but he knows otherwise. ever since November, Karkat's been having to buy more clothes than what is necessary and tossing out the old.

that's mostly why he's agreed to this mini trip with Kanaya. that and it's kind of good to be out and about. flying is really the best thing there is, all right.

upon touching down, it's around lunch time. which means the first tough decision is, well... ]

Anything you feel up to trying or do you want to go the safe route with food you already know?

I think I have adjusted enough to try something new. [Kanaya said absently, even while she was checking over the list of things she needed to pick up and the things she knew Karkat needed.] So we can eat whatever you like.

Do you wish to shop first?

[You're not getting out of it Karkat, no matter how hard you might want to.]

[ Karkat rubs at his face. yeap. no escaping this. ]

One store. Then can we eat?

[ it's a compromise. they'd probably be in that store for about an hour or two as it is. plenty of time to work up some form of appetite. ]

Fine. We can go find the things I need to cut your hair, and I have a list of TMs I wish to purchase.

[She had been making that particular list for a while, at this point.]

And after lunch we will find you more clothing.

I was thinking about buying some more TMs myself. The move tutors that move from place to place only teach so much.

[ Karkat isn't really all that bothered by the fact that Kanaya is nabbing stuff to cut his hair. besides himself or Rose, she's really the only one that he trusts to do it and get it right. Vanitas is a disaster and Gamzee...

I'll have to put in an order to get my symbol on a black shirt. Are you going to want one of those with yours?

I can sew them into my own clothes, thank you. I can add yours too, if you like.

Personally I don't decide until I actually get there. Aerial Ace and Return are always a must, though.

I believe I prefer to plan things out. And I don't have anything that can learn Aerial Ace.

You'd be surprised what kind of things can learn it. I've had the weirdest typings still able to learn that move that I get it before hand. Just in case.

I have been attempting to use the lists on here to determine what can learn what. Although it would have been easier if I knew precisely what was on sale first...

Well, okay. Maybe it is. But that's not entirely my doing. I have a lot of beasts that seem to want to huddle around me for no good reason.

It would seem to me that a good rule would be that if you are going to spend months sulking, to try and keep your pets outside.

[She moves over to one of the counters, peering at the things for sale, then turns back to Karkat.]

Are you looking for anything? Besides clothes, I mean.

They're not pets, Kanaya. Most pets aren't capable of sentient thoughts other than "feed me," "love me," and "I've got to take a shit."

[ he rolls his eyes. kind of... insulting to pokes everywhere, that. ]

I need to get something for Valentines, but I don't know what yet.

Karkat, for the context of making your pillow fort smell, they are. Blanket fort. Whatever.

[She hesitates, looking into one of the counters again. Everything was more expensive than she had expected...]

[ things are a little pricey, as far as Pokémon stuff goes. Karkat hesitates to offer any $$. Kanaya might want to pay for it herself, though he doesn't mind paying the difference.

It's the humans' romantic holiday. Mid February.

[She is scribbling notes on her shopping list as she turns back to him, but an amused smile tugs at the corner of her lips as she considers him.]

Are you buying something romantic for Vanitas?

I was going to. The problem is that I really don't know what to get him.

[She looks around.]

And do you know where they keep those evolution stones?

[ Karkat starts to head towards the right elevator. if he remembers this right it's on a different floor. ]

That's the hard part. He would like anything I go thim.

[She tucks her list away as she follows.]

Yes, but what does he like to do?

Lately he's been learning how to dance and cook. Usually he just like sparring and shit like that.

A cookbook then?

[It seemed obvious to her.]

...Somehow I can't picture Vanitas with a book. Can you?

If he wants to learn to cook, that is the standard way, he may have to make an exception.

And it isn't as though there is a lot of reading involved.
