Nanami Chiaki | Super Dangan Ronpa 2 | Wherever's Clever
...dropping a High School Level Gamer in an iconic video game? Isn't likely to upset her or throw her off her stride at all. Rather than wasting time wondering where she is (obviously Pokémon, although the plot seems different - though that just makes it more fun) or what she ought to be doing, Nanami gets down to the business of playing the game.
This mostly means that regardless of zapping to random places, seeing random machines, or meeting people who she oughtn't be able to meet, Nanami seems perfectly content (and, in fact, excited) to get down to the business of being a Pokémon trainer. She can be found on routes tramping around dutifully in the tall grass (and avoiding ledges with a casually blasé air) or in towns, speaking to every NPC (...read: denizen) in sight and attempting to locate the "plot". She might try to challenge gyms if she can grind her team high enough. Periodically she can be found explaining certain "game mechanics" to her Munna or another member of her eclectic team. Or just, you know. Staring off into space as she plans her next move.
Nanami might also be found playing some of the pre-loaded games on the gear, as well as any she might have downloaded or bought. She just can't help herself. The fact that she's super focused on playing Robot Rapidash Attack won't make her unwilling to speak to people who approach, though; at any given time Nanami will be more than willing to speak to anyone who comes up, though she might initially be waiting for some sort of tutorial or side quest. After a bit, she'll adjust her opinion of the place to "Pokémon MMORPG", but she'll still be perfectly content with speaking to anyone who approaches her. ]

Hello there! What are you up to?
[It seems silly to ask, obviously she's playing Robot Rapidash Attack, only the greatest game with the most fantastically cheesy song Botan's heard since arriving in Johto. But still, how else is anyone going to start a conversation around these parts.]
no subject
I'm playing "Robot Rapidash Attack". ...There are a few differences from the game at home, I think. Though, the controls are easy enough.
[ Nanami doesn't exactly look up from the game right away. She'll probably look up after this round, but doesn't sound annoyed in the least about being interrupted. ]
no subject
[In contrast, Botan's a chatterbox and doesn't tend to miss a beat in conversations. This will end well.]
no subject
Nanami has to take a second to pause in speaking, not for the game, but rather to compose her words again. ]
...My name is Nanami Chiaki. I'm pretty good at this sort of genre, too.
no subject
My name is Botan. [McNoLastName.] Coming here was the first time I've seen video games of this caliber, they're a lot more...[1990s] simple where I'm from. But, Nanami-chan, you have a journey to go on! At least that's what they tell us when we get here.
no subject
[ Maybe that will be a better explanation. She's not sure how to explain it, otherwise. ]
If you mean my Pokemon journey...I do want to go on that. But I haven't been able to trigger any starting quests so far...

[ Well, she doesn't sound particularly resigned, at least. Games are like that, sometimes. ]
And then I can trigger the rival encounter and errands for the Professor...
no subject
[--well, she is a gamer, maybe she's experienced it in the games she plays.]
I never ran an errand for the Professor or battled with a "rival" though, I think they just give us the speech plus the supplies and cut us loose to decide things for ourselves.
1/2
...it's probably more like starting up someone else's save file. Right?
[ ...It...makes sense to her, when she thinks of it like that, at least. ]
2/2
But it's not a Pokémon game without a rival.
[ Well. "Important". ]

Ah, Nanami-san! You certainly seem to be right at home here! Not surprising, since this world is based off of a video game... Or maybe the game was based off of this world?
no subject
............
Well, he seems to be in a good mood. And it's not like she dislikes any of her classmates. ]
...I've played the games before. Have you also played Pokémon, Komaeda-kun? [ He seems to recognize the game, after all. ]
As to that...
[ By which she means the possibility of the game being based off of this world. ...Give Nanami a second to pause, considering that deeply.
Because it's, you know, clearly an important matter. ]
...I'm not sure which would be correct. Though I haven't managed to find the game plot. Have you?
no subject
I have! It's been a long time since I last played, but I still remember it pretty well, I think.
[Except for all these new Pokemon, but he's pretty sure that they never appeared in the games.]
A plot? Hmm... Not exactly, but I have seen this strange teleporting machine with the Team Rocket logo on the side a few times. I'm sure it must be significant somehow, though I haven't seen any actual Team Rocket members yet.
no subject
Games are always a good thing, okay. ]
About that...some of these Pokemon seem new, don't you think? [ Or at least apping characters can only know Red and Blue or first generation, so there's that. ] And the locations, too.
...A teleporting machine...if it's that, that's definitely the plot, don't you think? [ She's somehow managed to avoid it up to this point. ] What does it look like? Perhaps we should try to find it.
Ah, have you seen any of the others?
spoiler warning goes here i guess /fully spoiled
...That said, Naegi just so happens to end up getting teleported to where Nanami currently is. He briefly looks around, taking in the new location he's in before spotting the girl who's currently playing what sounds like Robot Rapidash Attack. He prefers Tetris, but he sometimes plays RRA when he has nothing else to do and the song has become more or less been permanently etched into his brain. ]
Hey there. [ Naegi says, approaching the girl. He's there, she's there and he figures there's no harm in making some friends during this day of chaos. ]
ditto that!
Maybe sometime. Not right now.
It takes a few moments for her response. Long enough that someone might think she was ignoring them, though that wasn't the case. ]
...Finished.
[ But it's a new high score. That's an acceptable loss. Since the timing works out, she will actually make a daring move and look up at the person talking to her.
..................................
Well, okay. Just...give her a few more moments, here. What's the appropriate response...........? ]
...Hello. I didn't know you were here...
no subject
I hope I'm not bothering you too much, suddenly striking up a conversation like this... You looked preoccupied with your game. Robot Rapidash Attack, right? I recognized the music.
no subject
[ At least, she doesn't really mind... ]
Mmm-hmm. It's a little different from the game it's based on, but the changes are interesting. ...Ah, I wonder what the "Pokemon" equivalent of "Pokemon" is...?
no subject
no subject
[ Well. She eyes him speculatively. ]
Unless that's you...ah, are we rivals now?
no subject
no subject
That's not your "talent", is it? ...It's all right. I'll find a rival sometime soon. Probably.
If not, I can focus on the League, right?
