HOENNWEEN: BOSS BATTLE LOG
Who: Hoennween Plot Participants!
Where: Tohjo Falls!
When: Thursday, October 30th
Summary: You've taken the Elite Four's estate and reaped the (stolen? borrowed? requisitioned) benefits waiting for you inside it. But come morning, an earthquake signals the arrival of two incredibly belligerent Legendaries and the Team Bosses who've summoned them.
Rating: PG-13 in general; please mark threads that go higher accordingly!
Log:

YOU ARE HERE. YOU'RE FIGHTING THESE GUYS.
THIS IS STILL YOUR BACKGROUND MUSIC, AND THIS IS STARTING TO LOOK LIKE AN EPISODE OF JACKASS.
KEY:
• GRAY areas in the north are a range of mountains that form a natural barrier around part of the Tohjo plain where the Elite Four's resort is located. This is where you will find and battle Maxie, his Team Magma Grunts, and also obviously that sure is Primal Groudon, all right.
• GREEN areas in the southeast and southwest are densely-packed forested areas interspersed by lakes and rivers that seem to be feeding into the main waterway into the area. It is both difficult and dangerous to venture into the woodlands proper, but this seems to be where a lot of the Team Aqua Grunts are stationed now.
• The BLUE area in the south is the massive lake that feeds the eponymous falls that give Tohjo its name. This is where you will find and battle Archie, his Team Aqua Grunts, and also obviously that sure is Primal Kyogre, all right.
• PINK diamonds in the east and west are the sites of massive formations of Mysterious Plot Crystals™ jutting up from beneath the surface; the Grunts will not be found around these today, so if your character is looking for a safe zone well away from the crossfire, they will want to hole up near these.
• The BROWN rectangle dead-center in the map is...the Elite Four's resort. It's even more unfortunately-located today than it was yesterday. However, people willing to risk the crossfire between the Legendaries and get into the house will have access to all of the battle and healing items discussed up here!
A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:
• As per Arceus's summon, there will be Gen VI Pokemon joining the battle on their own! You may NPC these Pokemon, within reasonable limits; you may not capture them in Pokeballs, and they are still wild so they will not take commands from characters the way a captured Pokemon would from its trainer. However, they do recognize that the portaled-in humans are fighting on roughly the same side as they are, so they won't attack player characters and might occasionally come to their aid if need be — you're free to NPC them as you like for purposes such as this.
• The aforementioned Gen VI Pokemon can be any Pokemon that swarmed during September, plus any of their evolved forms. They've had several weeks in the wild to get buff and settle in; now you can see what they've got to show for it!
• You may NPC the Team Aqua and Team Magma Grunts as you see fit; either one can reasonably be found anywhere on the map, though they're avoiding the crystals and keeping close to their bosses — that means Team Magma will be more highly-concentrated in the northern areas of the map, and Team Aqua will be staying to the south.
• Due to the nature of the battlefield and the fact that the team leaders are going to be defending their Legendary of choice, if you choose to fight the bosses, please select whether you are going after Archie or Maxie on this particular log - you may go after one but not both.
• However, there is no restriction on how many Aqua and Magma Grunts you may fight!
• You may forego Pokemon battling entirely and simply beat up the Grunts with physical violence yourself. If you KO a Grunt, they will white out and be warped to the nearest Pokemon Center back down in the regions proper, where they will be arrested by an officer of the Kangaskhan Police.
• FOR CHARACTERS INTENDING TO USE HONEDGES LIKE WEAPONS: due to the high volume of questions we have received on this topic (it's a popular inquiry!), we want to clarify for this Pokemon in particular —
If you choose to use a Honedge as though it were a traditional sword, the most that the Honedges will allow might be slapping the grunts with the flat side of the blade. They are still opposed to attacking/killing humans, opponents or not, and if you try to stab an opponent with them, you're going to get a really obstinate ghost sword going incorporeal and ineffectively going through them. There's also the fact that you're grabbing them by the head and swinging them around — they won't like that very much.
PLEASE NOTE: if you intend to use a Honedge in this manner anyway, we may ask that you experience light IC consequences for it later in the plot! We're not barring you from getting your sword skills on with your Honedges; we're simply pointing out that there may be natural outcomes that follow from those choices.
• UPDATE: if you would like to interrogate the grunts, check here for information you can learn from them!
~
☆ THE NUMBER TO MEET OR BEAT IS 37 PARTICIPANTS ☆.
REMEMBER: IF YOUR CHARACTER DOES NOT POST TO THE BOSS BATTLE LOG AT LEAST ONCE
(AS A TOP-LEVEL COMMENT OR IN RESPONSE TO SOMEONE ELSE'S TOP-LEVEL COMMENT)
BEFORE 9:00 PM EST on OCTOBER 30, THEY WILL NOT COUNT TOWARD THE 37-PARTICIPANT GOAL!

For a while, Chihiro doesn't see Horu, his Garchomp that he loaned to Kirigiri for the sake of making sure they found Hagakure without getting bumrushed by Pokemon or Grunts. He's sure he's doing fine with her, but the legendaries have him a bit worried...
That is, of course, until Horu finds the chance to break away long enough to come back to where Chihiro is, only because he wants to see how his papa his doing. And lo and behold, Chihiro sure did get one of those strange stones, and sure enough the very SECOND he steps outside to the sound of Horu's excited grunting, he evolves rather abruptly into a very hulking mass of a Pokemon, bristling with teeth and sharp edges and two huge scythe-like claws that sweep around like scimitars.
...and poor Chihiro can only stand in the doorway, paralyzed with his mouth working but unable to form words as he stares up at Horu, who stares back down at him with his tail sweeping the ground and his jaws parted in an almost dopey kind of smile, if it weren't for how fearsome his new appearance was.]
no subject
That doesn't mean he's not watching what's happening outside though. He's actually kinda glued to the window, because as scary as the situation is it's also pretty damn cool. It's a pity he doesn't have his old team with him, otherwise he'd be out there kicking ass too. But the portal had swallowed him up when he'd been out training his lower-leveled members, and he can't confront this madness with just his Houndoom and his Aerodactyl, the only two senior Pokemon he has at the moment.
...thought that may change pretty soon. Leon hears the tell-tale signs of an evolution happening pretty near him. He turns around...and sure, the giant shark monster at the doorway is pretty frightening, what gets his attention the second after is who's standing in front of it.]
Ch...Chihiro-san!!
[His own fears forgotten in a moment of bravado, Leon grabs one of his Pokeballs and throws out his Aerodactyl, Riley. The Ancient Pokemon didn't look too happy to be called out against what is decidedly a very big and toothy Garchomp, but he beats his wings against the ground and launches into the air.]
Chihiro-san! Get away from that thing!
no subject
Horu towers over Chihiro, pushing his head closer to the doorway even though it is going to be next to impossible for him to get inside no matter how hard he tries. He looms ever closer, not paying Leon or his Aerocdactyl any mind as he peers at Chihiro, his jaws hanging open and every breath blowing back the boy's hair he's so close.
He leans in and opens his mouth wide...
...and licks Chihiro's face, from his chin all the way up to his forehead.]
Sorry, please pretend I wrote Fujisaki-san instead. My big mistake, @@
Riley, Thunder Fang that bastard!
[The Aerodactyl obliges, swooping in with its jaws stretched open and its sharp teeth poised to snap at the shark Pokemon. But it's too late, it's already gone and opened its mouth. Leon can't watch, it's going to bite Fujisaki-san's head off!!
...only it doesn't. And it licks him instead. Whaaat?? It's tame!? But maybe it's just getting a taste. Leon shakes off his doubts
at the worst possible time againand yells at his Aerodactyl.]Hurry! We've gotta save her!
it's ok!
..wait, attacking?
!!!
All of a sudden, the Garchomp rushes forwards, and in two steps he's at Chihiro again. Before he can move or do anything else, Horu grabs him up in his arms, hooking Chihiro carefully beneath his forearms to avoid accidentally knocking him into the blades. He hisses up at the Aerodactyl and backs out of the doorway.
Back off bro, you're not laying a claw on his Papa.]
no subject
OK ugly, you've only got five seconds before I sic my guys on you. Let her go right now or I'm gonna kick your ass outta here!
no subject
And that is when Chihiro regains his senses enough to figure out what's going on and who that is down there. It's a bit of a feat to get his voice loud enough to be heard over Horu's rumbling snarling, but somehow he manages it.]
K-Kuwata-kun, wait! It's o-okay!
[OR, WELL. HE HOPES IT IS, He's still not...entirely sure what happened to his poor Garchomp why is he so big and sharp now.
Well, sharper.]
no subject
[Unfortunately, it hasn't translated to Leon just yet that Fujisaki's got this under control.]
Riley, Ice Fang that bitch!
no subject
The scythes begin to glow as he prepares Dragon Claw, growling deeply at the Aerodactyl above.]
A-ah, Horu! Horu, wait!
no subject
as usual. Instead, he orders another attack from Riley.]OK, if that's not gonna work...then how about a Thunder Fang!
[Electricity begins to crackle in Riley's jaws. The Ancient Pokemon dips...and then dives down like a speeding bullet.]
no subject
Riley is fast- very fast. A lot faster than a Garchomp, even a Mega one. Horu seems to realize that he's not going to be able to dodge that, so he throws up one of his scythe-like arms to take the brunt of the blow.
And though Chihiro is fairly certain Horu wouldn't do anything to let him get hurt...he's not confident that that electricity coursing through his body won't get accidentally passed on to him.
Wildly, he pushes on the top of the Garchomp's head so he can stand slightly and see over, yelling across the way at Leon.]
K-Kuwata-kun, please stop! T-this is my Pokemon!
no subject
S-shit! Riley, stop!!!
[The Aerodactyl looks confused and surprised at the change in order, but it's going too fast to veer off from its downward trajectory. Leon scrambles for his pokeball; thank goodness for SHSL Baseball talent, because that fast pitch that earns him his fame is what saves Riley and Horu from a collision. The Aerodactyl disappears into the red beam just mere inches away from smashing into the Mega Garchomp.
Leon lets out a loud, relieved sigh.]
Holy shit...that was close! You OK there Fujisaki-san?
no subject
Meanwhile, Chihiro lets his hands rest atop the Garchomp's head to keep them from shaking, his knees gripping his neck tightly. He's so light, though, that Horu can barely feel his presence there as he peeks over at Leon. Oh, he is very high up...]
I-...I'm okay.
[Okay, and sitting on the shoulders of a very very large, very sharp land shark, who lowers his head to glare at Leon, letting out a loud breath through his nose to express his irritation.]

It seems he's... made a change... if I take your expression correctly...

[Chihiro breathes, watching Horu as he stomps a bit closer, lowering his head down to his level. He opens his maw in what is probably supposed to be a toothy grin, but it looks more like a snarl instead.]
no subject
... Be nice...
no subject
Did...did he....evolve?
no subject
[He looks out at the battlefield which seems to have... well. A number of more spiky-looking Pokemon than before. The purple one looks somewhat familiar, and he looks at Abstract.]
... Hm. Is that... one of Haunter's evolutions?
no subject
Mm? ..oh, yes. Those are Gengar. I've seen pictures of them in the pokedex, before.

[Abstract looks excited. She wants to evolve!]
no subject
[He gets a little braver, moving to scratch under Horu's chin. The Garchomp lets out a chirp, pushing his head further into the door.]
So long as both trainers agree to it.
