HOENNWEEN: BOSS BATTLE LOG
Who: Hoennween Plot Participants!
Where: Tohjo Falls!
When: Thursday, October 30th
Summary: You've taken the Elite Four's estate and reaped the (stolen? borrowed? requisitioned) benefits waiting for you inside it. But come morning, an earthquake signals the arrival of two incredibly belligerent Legendaries and the Team Bosses who've summoned them.
Rating: PG-13 in general; please mark threads that go higher accordingly!
Log:

YOU ARE HERE. YOU'RE FIGHTING THESE GUYS.
THIS IS STILL YOUR BACKGROUND MUSIC, AND THIS IS STARTING TO LOOK LIKE AN EPISODE OF JACKASS.
KEY:
• GRAY areas in the north are a range of mountains that form a natural barrier around part of the Tohjo plain where the Elite Four's resort is located. This is where you will find and battle Maxie, his Team Magma Grunts, and also obviously that sure is Primal Groudon, all right.
• GREEN areas in the southeast and southwest are densely-packed forested areas interspersed by lakes and rivers that seem to be feeding into the main waterway into the area. It is both difficult and dangerous to venture into the woodlands proper, but this seems to be where a lot of the Team Aqua Grunts are stationed now.
• The BLUE area in the south is the massive lake that feeds the eponymous falls that give Tohjo its name. This is where you will find and battle Archie, his Team Aqua Grunts, and also obviously that sure is Primal Kyogre, all right.
• PINK diamonds in the east and west are the sites of massive formations of Mysterious Plot Crystals™ jutting up from beneath the surface; the Grunts will not be found around these today, so if your character is looking for a safe zone well away from the crossfire, they will want to hole up near these.
• The BROWN rectangle dead-center in the map is...the Elite Four's resort. It's even more unfortunately-located today than it was yesterday. However, people willing to risk the crossfire between the Legendaries and get into the house will have access to all of the battle and healing items discussed up here!
A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:
• As per Arceus's summon, there will be Gen VI Pokemon joining the battle on their own! You may NPC these Pokemon, within reasonable limits; you may not capture them in Pokeballs, and they are still wild so they will not take commands from characters the way a captured Pokemon would from its trainer. However, they do recognize that the portaled-in humans are fighting on roughly the same side as they are, so they won't attack player characters and might occasionally come to their aid if need be — you're free to NPC them as you like for purposes such as this.
• The aforementioned Gen VI Pokemon can be any Pokemon that swarmed during September, plus any of their evolved forms. They've had several weeks in the wild to get buff and settle in; now you can see what they've got to show for it!
• You may NPC the Team Aqua and Team Magma Grunts as you see fit; either one can reasonably be found anywhere on the map, though they're avoiding the crystals and keeping close to their bosses — that means Team Magma will be more highly-concentrated in the northern areas of the map, and Team Aqua will be staying to the south.
• Due to the nature of the battlefield and the fact that the team leaders are going to be defending their Legendary of choice, if you choose to fight the bosses, please select whether you are going after Archie or Maxie on this particular log - you may go after one but not both.
• However, there is no restriction on how many Aqua and Magma Grunts you may fight!
• You may forego Pokemon battling entirely and simply beat up the Grunts with physical violence yourself. If you KO a Grunt, they will white out and be warped to the nearest Pokemon Center back down in the regions proper, where they will be arrested by an officer of the Kangaskhan Police.
• FOR CHARACTERS INTENDING TO USE HONEDGES LIKE WEAPONS: due to the high volume of questions we have received on this topic (it's a popular inquiry!), we want to clarify for this Pokemon in particular —
If you choose to use a Honedge as though it were a traditional sword, the most that the Honedges will allow might be slapping the grunts with the flat side of the blade. They are still opposed to attacking/killing humans, opponents or not, and if you try to stab an opponent with them, you're going to get a really obstinate ghost sword going incorporeal and ineffectively going through them. There's also the fact that you're grabbing them by the head and swinging them around — they won't like that very much.
PLEASE NOTE: if you intend to use a Honedge in this manner anyway, we may ask that you experience light IC consequences for it later in the plot! We're not barring you from getting your sword skills on with your Honedges; we're simply pointing out that there may be natural outcomes that follow from those choices.
• UPDATE: if you would like to interrogate the grunts, check here for information you can learn from them!
~
☆ THE NUMBER TO MEET OR BEAT IS 37 PARTICIPANTS ☆.
REMEMBER: IF YOUR CHARACTER DOES NOT POST TO THE BOSS BATTLE LOG AT LEAST ONCE
(AS A TOP-LEVEL COMMENT OR IN RESPONSE TO SOMEONE ELSE'S TOP-LEVEL COMMENT)
BEFORE 9:00 PM EST on OCTOBER 30, THEY WILL NOT COUNT TOWARD THE 37-PARTICIPANT GOAL!

Team Aqua Boss Battle
Fwahahaha! That's perfect Kyogre! Keep blasting away at them. Show them the magnificent power of the sea!
[As anyone can probably see, Archie's pretty happy about this whole situation for the most part. Then again why shouldn't he be? Kyogre's become Primal Kyogre, it's blasting away at those Team Magma losers and their Groudon over there, and he's pretty sure today's going to end with his side and the sea proving its superiority over the others once and for all.]
They may have taken out some of our Grunts, but Team Aqua's goals won't evaporate that easily. With the primal power of Kyogre on our side, there's no way we can lose today!
[He laughs again, because there's just no way that'll happen. Today's going to end with the Team Aqua flag, if they have one, flying high over the seas of the Pokemon world for sure. Unless all these trainers running around somehow foil his plans or something else happens, but what are the odds of any of that happening?]
no subject
The arrival of the legendaries is impossible to miss. By far, this is the closest Riku's ever been to one, barring the golems some years back. They're massive, imposing, and cast the battlefield in a far more dismal light than before. The one upside is that he's gotten a good night sleep. He's managed to do a little restocking. One of those bizarre stones from the basement now rests in his pocket. While he's not sure what it is, it has to be important. Why else would they be hiding in the basement?
Well, one thing's for sure. There isn't time to dawdle, so, on the back of his trusty Charizard, Riku soars out of the Elite Four's stronghold and towards the sea. As they move, a flash of light envelopes them both. Flare lets out a startled grunt, but when the light fades, he's changed.
His scales are darker. Blue flames spew from the corners of his mouth. Riku tries to say something, but his shock renders him temporarily mute.
Besides, they've got bigger fish to fry.
So, in comes one young man on the back of his raging dragon. As they hit the ground, Riku shakes his head and rolls his eyes.]
Didn't your mom ever tell you not to count your fish before they hatch?
[Okay, so that joke was terrible, but given the whole aquatic motif, he really couldn't resist.]
no subject
Didn't yours teach you not to play with fire?
[See, he can do the bad joke thing too. But, that's enough joking around for now. There's a glare from him as he reaches for a Pokeball, still not terribly concerned with what's going on here.]
You're meddling in things you don't understand here, kid. Since today's such a great day for Team Aqua, I'll give you a chance to back away now. If not...
[Archie sends out a Sharpedo, which reacts to the stones and crystals and becomes Mega Sharpedo. So it went from a weird torpedo shark to a weird spiky torpedo shark.]
If not, I, Team Aqua's Archie, will have to extinguish those flames!

Re: Team Aqua Boss Battle
No holding back today. Ryner had seen those legends in books. (Frustratingly little of them for his curiosity to be satisfied, but he had.) If the leaders of these red and blue-clad idiots thought they could handle them... well, then they could probably handle full power anyway.
On Ryner's shout, Jehra leapt into the air, and at the zenith Ryner leapt off of him, leaving Rose to ride the Absol herself. Upon landing, Ryner then ran toward the man who was obviously the leader of the blue folks...]
What the hell is your problem?!?!?
[...to attempt to punch him in the face.
No one ever said that the leader deserved any more respect than the grunts, after all.]
no subject
Huh?
[He's moving away by congratulations Ryner, that managed to hit him in the shoulder! So he staggers back a little.]
Not a smart move, guy.
[Rather than use his hands like some sort of uncultured barbarian, he'll send out a Tentacruel instead, and it'll move between him and Ryner. Try punching that.]
Why are you interfering anyway? What I'm trying to do will benefit the entire world!

[And lucky for him, they've shown themselves. He and Regal fly out towards the lake, dodging around the blasting water and fire from opposite sides of the clearing. They land in front of Archie, and Tobias calls out to him.]
Look, I'll give you a fair chance. Stop this and leave.
[He knows he's not the strongest trainer, but he has to give it a try.]
no subject
What he does care about though is the whole asking him to leave thing. That's kinda rude. After all, he's about to strike the final blow for Team Aqua and put an end to this potentially region destroying rivalry once and for all. Seriously, does he come over to your region, get up in your face and start trouble?
...wait, don't answer that.]
Stop? We can't stop. Not until Team Magma no longer poses a threat to the Pokemon world!
[Never mind the fact that what he's doing isn't exactly good either.]
If anything, we're the good guys here!
[This is what Team Aqua actually believes.]

Oh, he's nearby, and he's got an Electrode with him so he could engage members of your water-based team if he so chose. But for now? He's keeping a distance that's actually halfway reasonable, and he's...actually doing a decent job picking off any members of that team in red that happen to get too close, either via electricity or whatever he's doing with those crystal shards that he's got on him that's causing all the explosions after he throws them.
If he manages to catch eye contact with you, you are just going to be getting a smile and the briefest of salutes; it's been a long time since he's done one, but it's still military-perfect.
Looks like he's yours for the duration, Archie; just let him know where you want him, if anywhere.]
no subject
So he's not going to look a gift horse in the mouth here and is just going to grin in return and point towards a few more of those Team Magma Grunts. Take enough of them out and who knows, maybe you too can get a pirate outfit and a bunch of Pokemon that don't really fit the whole ocean motif going on here!]

While Joker takes to the hotter side of the field, Jimmy takes to where things are a bit cooler, so to speak. He's spent his entire life living in the heat with lakes literally made of fire, so why not change things up a bit?
There have been a few awesome megas in the form of Charizard in particular, sure, but are you prepared to take on the might of that which is Mega Manectric?! ...in all honesty, the poor thing looks like it might topple over at any second. Jimmy doesn't seem deterred by this, however, and in fact thinks this is the coolest thing he's ever seen, next to giant whales and lava dragon...things.
And this is how he faces Archie with his lightningbolt with legs, offering him a gap-toothed grin.]
You guys sure know how to throw a party, don't you?
no subject
Wow, okay, Archie is not even one hundred percent sure what he's looking at here, but he thinks it used to be a Manectric and he's not sure whether he should be slightly worried or just sort of push it over and see what happens.]
Of course, kid! We're Team Aqua! We make things better wherever we go!
[Disclaimer: Team Aqua does not actually make things better wherever they go, and as seen over the past few days, tends to actually make things worse.]

[ Mimi eyes the big whale thing with trepidation. She's been eaten by a big whale thing once before, and she has no desire to repeat the experience. ]

[Through superior...um...firepower basically, which totally clashes with the whole water motif, but superior waterpower or superior whalepower don't sound right.]
And that's right, I'm in charge! The name's Archie, and I'm the head of Team Aqua.

[This was...starting to get a little bit out of hand now. Though yesterday had gone well enough, the fact that now the bosses are here was certainly complicating things. And to top it all off, those giant Pokemon were certainly causing quite a bit of chaos...stopping them is their top priority right now. Anna had kind of figured that things were going to start bustling, so she decided to take advantage of the house they had at their disposal and rest up, filling up hers and her sister's inventory with plenty of healing items, and even a couple more sandwiches! And since Elsa didn't really have any heavy-hitters, she decided to do a quick trade with her; until this blows over a little, Nova is in Elsa's care, and Anna's taking care of Idunn!
And so, with a quick stop in Lance's basement to garner up these interesting looking keystones for herself and her her sister (and another brief stop in his closet to borrow one of Lance's snazzy-looking capes because if we're gonna go out there and save the day, we're gonna do it in style), the two sisters decided to head towards the waterfront and take on the big boss in blue!
...What she didn't expect, though, was the pretty drastic transformation her precious baby Marlin was about to go through with the help of those keystones, because this...this is pretty something. She almost couldn't be more proud to see her sweet darling come such a long way...and she's sure she'll be even more proud when she watches him kick this pirate's team to the curb.]
Hope you're not too scared to take us on in a Double Battle! Just because you've got the Terrible Dogfish over there on your side doesn't mean you can beat Elsa and I!
[If nothing else, at the very least, she's got more than enough confidence to spare! After all, Elsa's with her; how can she lose?]
no subject
Also she's not going to point out that neither of them have ever fought anything even remotely like that leviathan in the water right now, so their chances aren't exactly great right now.]
This... complete mess of an all-out war is pointless. Whatever it is you're trying to accomplish, brute force isn't going to work!
[Nova, who didn't seem to mind at all the temporary change in trainers, roars loudly in agreement. And as he roars, he's enveloped in the strange glow that many other trainers' pokemon have been affected by; when the glow fades, his scales are a deep, blackish blue, and there are blue flames sprouting from his tail and mouth. The change was so sudden, much like Marlin's, but... Elsa isn't even that surprised anymore. She's really learning to roll with whatever's thrown at her in this world.]

So with her Braviary and Houndoom at her side, she manages to get to the shore, at which points she lets her Sharpedo back out and hops on his back.]
All right! We've got to go take on this guy! I mean, he's obviously the most threatening one here, because he's even dressed like a villain! I mean, what kind of hero wears an anchor around his neck!?
[She strikes a pose, not noticing that the rock she's got in her pocket has started glowing...]
So this is it! The big win! And we're going to --- woah, what!?
[...the Sharpedo almost seems as surprised as she is, because suddenly he is a gigantic sawfish.]
...Woah, I didn't know Sharpedo evolved!! Alright, this is just getting better and better! We're gonna beach the everloving crap out of this whale!
ONWARDS, WINDWAVE!

Okay, he has absolutely no idea what to do here. That is a giant ass torpedo shark heading straight for him. This is a completely unusual and unfamiliar situation because he's usually the one sending giant ass torpedo sharks at people, so what exactly is he supposed to do here?

it's time to d-d-d-double battle (Kato will be right after Dist)
After a night of recuperating from a lot of emotional fatigue and exploration of the resort with Kato, Dist awakens this morning with a strong sense of resolve. And it's a good thing he's feeling motivated, because the party's just begun. The head honchos are here.
Armed with their Pokemon and supplies gained from the resort, including two strange stones found in the basement, the two head out to confront one of the bosses. They set their sights on the leader of the pirate gang since they interrogated quite a few of grunts from it, and let's be real, a band of pirates seem like the type to actually trick people.
The...giant legendary Pokemon is unexpected, but they press on.
Dist already has a Pokeball in hand as the two approach, a look of determination and anger on his face.]
I take it you're the leader of this pathetic excuse for a gang? [His frown deepens.] I have plenty of questions for you. And if you refuse to listen, I have no qualms beating it out of you.
[And by beating it out, he means in a Pokemon battle. Clearly.]
no subject
...or, well, it's more the chance to use Explosion that has him excited, but that's neither here nor there. Dist is still angry, and Kato honestly can't blame him for that - he did eventually calm down after the god-awful day he had yesterday, but it's rather clear that the trickery still stings. But that's fine, really; the leaders of these idiotic groups have appeared and there is so much beautiful destruction going on around the place that he's honestly having to fight down the urge to cackle madly.
It would be a little rude, considering how grumpy his partner is! Grinning, Kato flexes his hands and tries to resist the urge to just hurl half his Pokémon team at the Captain Pirate here.]
Honestly, I'd much prefer it if you do refuse to talk. That will make things far more fun.

no subject
But after a moment's hesitation, he'll bring out Tentacruel to shield him from Frogadier. Not exactly an original plan on his part since he did the same thing to Ryner earlier, but it still makes a pretty good shield.]
Nice try, kid, but you're not going to corner me so easily.
no subject
But he's smiling pleasantly, and that should cover up any confusion.]
Nice whale you've got there. Did you ask it for permission before dragging it over here?
[He could almost seem casual and friendly, considering the way he's absent-mindedly throwing and catching his key stone, but the angry Mega Houndoom at his side somewhat ruins the image.]
no subject
Ask for permission? We don't have to. Kyogre's grateful to us for waking it from its slumber and is more than willing to help us achieve our goals today!
