HOENNWEEN: BOSS BATTLE LOG
Who: Hoennween Plot Participants!
Where: Tohjo Falls!
When: Thursday, October 30th
Summary: You've taken the Elite Four's estate and reaped the (stolen? borrowed? requisitioned) benefits waiting for you inside it. But come morning, an earthquake signals the arrival of two incredibly belligerent Legendaries and the Team Bosses who've summoned them.
Rating: PG-13 in general; please mark threads that go higher accordingly!
Log:

YOU ARE HERE. YOU'RE FIGHTING THESE GUYS.
THIS IS STILL YOUR BACKGROUND MUSIC, AND THIS IS STARTING TO LOOK LIKE AN EPISODE OF JACKASS.
KEY:
• GRAY areas in the north are a range of mountains that form a natural barrier around part of the Tohjo plain where the Elite Four's resort is located. This is where you will find and battle Maxie, his Team Magma Grunts, and also obviously that sure is Primal Groudon, all right.
• GREEN areas in the southeast and southwest are densely-packed forested areas interspersed by lakes and rivers that seem to be feeding into the main waterway into the area. It is both difficult and dangerous to venture into the woodlands proper, but this seems to be where a lot of the Team Aqua Grunts are stationed now.
• The BLUE area in the south is the massive lake that feeds the eponymous falls that give Tohjo its name. This is where you will find and battle Archie, his Team Aqua Grunts, and also obviously that sure is Primal Kyogre, all right.
• PINK diamonds in the east and west are the sites of massive formations of Mysterious Plot Crystals™ jutting up from beneath the surface; the Grunts will not be found around these today, so if your character is looking for a safe zone well away from the crossfire, they will want to hole up near these.
• The BROWN rectangle dead-center in the map is...the Elite Four's resort. It's even more unfortunately-located today than it was yesterday. However, people willing to risk the crossfire between the Legendaries and get into the house will have access to all of the battle and healing items discussed up here!
A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:
• As per Arceus's summon, there will be Gen VI Pokemon joining the battle on their own! You may NPC these Pokemon, within reasonable limits; you may not capture them in Pokeballs, and they are still wild so they will not take commands from characters the way a captured Pokemon would from its trainer. However, they do recognize that the portaled-in humans are fighting on roughly the same side as they are, so they won't attack player characters and might occasionally come to their aid if need be — you're free to NPC them as you like for purposes such as this.
• The aforementioned Gen VI Pokemon can be any Pokemon that swarmed during September, plus any of their evolved forms. They've had several weeks in the wild to get buff and settle in; now you can see what they've got to show for it!
• You may NPC the Team Aqua and Team Magma Grunts as you see fit; either one can reasonably be found anywhere on the map, though they're avoiding the crystals and keeping close to their bosses — that means Team Magma will be more highly-concentrated in the northern areas of the map, and Team Aqua will be staying to the south.
• Due to the nature of the battlefield and the fact that the team leaders are going to be defending their Legendary of choice, if you choose to fight the bosses, please select whether you are going after Archie or Maxie on this particular log - you may go after one but not both.
• However, there is no restriction on how many Aqua and Magma Grunts you may fight!
• You may forego Pokemon battling entirely and simply beat up the Grunts with physical violence yourself. If you KO a Grunt, they will white out and be warped to the nearest Pokemon Center back down in the regions proper, where they will be arrested by an officer of the Kangaskhan Police.
• FOR CHARACTERS INTENDING TO USE HONEDGES LIKE WEAPONS: due to the high volume of questions we have received on this topic (it's a popular inquiry!), we want to clarify for this Pokemon in particular —
If you choose to use a Honedge as though it were a traditional sword, the most that the Honedges will allow might be slapping the grunts with the flat side of the blade. They are still opposed to attacking/killing humans, opponents or not, and if you try to stab an opponent with them, you're going to get a really obstinate ghost sword going incorporeal and ineffectively going through them. There's also the fact that you're grabbing them by the head and swinging them around — they won't like that very much.
PLEASE NOTE: if you intend to use a Honedge in this manner anyway, we may ask that you experience light IC consequences for it later in the plot! We're not barring you from getting your sword skills on with your Honedges; we're simply pointing out that there may be natural outcomes that follow from those choices.
• UPDATE: if you would like to interrogate the grunts, check here for information you can learn from them!
~
☆ THE NUMBER TO MEET OR BEAT IS 37 PARTICIPANTS ☆.
REMEMBER: IF YOUR CHARACTER DOES NOT POST TO THE BOSS BATTLE LOG AT LEAST ONCE
(AS A TOP-LEVEL COMMENT OR IN RESPONSE TO SOMEONE ELSE'S TOP-LEVEL COMMENT)
BEFORE 9:00 PM EST on OCTOBER 30, THEY WILL NOT COUNT TOWARD THE 37-PARTICIPANT GOAL!

[And lucky for him, they've shown themselves. He and Regal fly out towards the lake, dodging around the blasting water and fire from opposite sides of the clearing. They land in front of Archie, and Tobias calls out to him.]
Look, I'll give you a fair chance. Stop this and leave.
[He knows he's not the strongest trainer, but he has to give it a try.]
no subject
What he does care about though is the whole asking him to leave thing. That's kinda rude. After all, he's about to strike the final blow for Team Aqua and put an end to this potentially region destroying rivalry once and for all. Seriously, does he come over to your region, get up in your face and start trouble?
...wait, don't answer that.]
Stop? We can't stop. Not until Team Magma no longer poses a threat to the Pokemon world!
[Never mind the fact that what he's doing isn't exactly good either.]
If anything, we're the good guys here!
[This is what Team Aqua actually believes.]
no subject
You are? Because none of your group has been able to explain why that is. Mind enlightening us?
[This should be... interesting.]
no subject
[And somewhere in there is also we Primal Reverted a giant whale to beat the crap out of things.]
no subject
Look, I'm not saying protecting the sea is a bad thing, but... why would you want to expand it? A lot of people and Pokemon live on the land. You'd be wiping them all out. Ecosystems aren't really something you want to mess with artificially. You have no idea the kind of effect that sort of thing could have on the entire world.
no subject
More sea creates more water for new life forms to emerge from. We don't want to wipe out land based life, unlike Team Magma, who if they had their way would leave this world a barren wasteland, we simply want to create more room for new life to grow!
[By making a giant whale slap a giant lizard. This is how people in Hoenn express their environmental philosophies apparently.]
no subject
I don't think you can really make more sea without putting it on the land, unless you can make the planet bigger. Which I wouldn't put past this place, but I don't think that's what you're planning.
no subject
[Something is clearly getting lost in translation here, but it's clearly not Archie's fault since his logic is completely sound.
Blame the Pokemon games.]Look at it this way, back home, we tried to fill up a dormant volcano with water to provide Water-types with a new place to live. You can't really claim that's bad, can you?
[Let's just ignore the fact that it required disrupting the volcano with a meteorite and all the other stuff.]
no subject
[He looks up at Regal, who leans in for a pat.]
Look. I may not be from here, but I know a lot more about nature than you do, I'm guessing. I used to be a bird before I showed up here. But anyone who knows anything about environmental science can see that what you're doing is stupid. And since you don't seem like you're likely to stop it... if you still want to keep going, you're going to have to go through us.
no subject
[What else is he supposed to do but laugh?]
Under any other circumstances, I'd probably admire your conviction, but you picked the wrong day to try and talk me out of this. So if you want me to wipe the floor with your Pokemon in order to secure a brighter future for Team Aqua, then so be it!
[He'll bring out Walrein to start things off, and without further posturing...]
Aurora Beam!
no subject
Regal, pull back! Volts, let's go!
[He tosses a Pokeball and a very angry Zebstrika paws the ground, before charging forward with a Quick Attack.]
no subject
Walrein! Body Slam!
[Can a walrus slam a zebra? Apparently, everyone's going to find out soon.]
no subject
Thunder Wave!
[Let's see you move that blubber when you're paralyzed.]
no subject
Oh wait, Walrein knows Rest.]
Walrein! Rest! Sleep it off!
[The bad news is that it isn't paralyzed anymore. The good news is that it's asleep, so now's probably the chance to do some heavy damage. Just watch out for Snore.]
no subject
Wild Charge!
[Volts rears back and electricity flows over his body before running and slamming into Walrein. Sure, it hurts him a little too... but it's still a pretty strong move.]
no subject
Not bad, kid. But check this out! Snore!
[Walrein used Snore!
Presumably that means it snores so loud it can actually cause some sort of damage to other Pokemon which is slightly ridiculous, but hey, that's how it apparently works!]
no subject
Discharge!
[Almost all the power of Wild Charge, none of the backlash, and... well, okay. Maybe the paralysis won't stack but it's still a lot of damage.]
no subject
Snore!
[There's not much else he can really do here, other than continue to assault that Pokemon's hearing.]
no subject
Come on!
no subject
Ice Fang!
[And now it's trying to jab that poor Zebstrika with its tusks. Apparently it's not a morning person.]
no subject
Volt Switch!
[The Zebstrika shoots out a ball of electricity that flashes brightly and then runs back to Tobias. Rachel rushes forward, immediately trying to use a Take Down.]
no subject
Blizzard! Put that bear on ice!
no subject
no subject
Fufufu, there's still plenty more where that came from.
[Archie selects another Pokeball and it's...a Tentacruel.]
Sludge Wave!
[A Tentacruel spewing a wave of poisonous sludge towards Ursaring to be precise.]
no subject
Fury Swipes!
[He might have to retreat if this goes worse. Hopefully he can at least weaken this guy, though.]
