A menagerie of the tragedy that I've caused
Who: Solf J Kimblee (
explosivecombat), Frank Archer (
sadisticwarfare), and anyone in the Ecruteak area who wants to engage them – OPEN LOG, don't forget to do the thing and tag yourself in!
Where: Ecruteak City
When: Forward-dated; morning of November 14, 2014
Summary: They've declared war.
Rating: PG-13 or thereabouts. ...Look, if this goes badly, it's basically going to be MICHAEL BAY PRESENTS: THE LOG.
Log:
It's a lovely day out.
While the last attack had been delayed by too much snow to be pleasant, it seems that the weather is with him today; the sun has been out and the temperatures high for the season, and overall, he finds that he can't complain.
The bombs have been set. The residents of Ecruteak have "forgotten." And unlike the hotel room he was holed up in last time, the room he's in is very, very dark.
It's not to say that there's no light; the device in his hand is offering a light ambient glow from the numbers adorning its face. There are a few of them; he allows his fingers to trail over them idly while he waits. Exactly what he's waiting for is a little difficult to say; perhaps it's just a matter of dramatic timing.
Some of those numbers are pressed down after a while, codes of some sort. He pauses for a moment; catches his breath.
Clicks the red switch at the top.
Hopefully no one was particularly close to the museum, as that explosion is going to be a nice one. Not enough to take the building down, mind you, but more than enough to take out a good portion of it. (Sorry about the lawns on those houses nearby, by the way; they're going to be looking a little rough after the fact.)
He closes his eyes once it's done, a light smile crossing his features underneath the hooded mask; it's been a while since he's done this, but the sound is just as beautiful to him as it always is.
Let's begin.
[OOC: Notes on how to play are here! If you have any questions, feel free to throw a comment on that post and I'll get to it ASAP.
Right now, the goal is to pick a location within the city - and literally any of the major landmarks are fair game - put it in your top-level, and we'll lead you from there!]
[OOC PART II: Here's your progress tracker, guys.
Bomb 1 - museum: DETONATED
Bomb 2 - location currently unknown: STILL ACTIVE

Near the Kimono Dance Theatre
Late in the night just before the allotted week was up, Jimmy mounted his Volcarona with his remaining team of five on his belt and left Goldenrod without word to Joker about what he was doing. He knew he wouldn't be able to stand back with the idea that this was going on sitting on his conscience, and telling him would just have his good friend worry.
He would be fine.
Not long after Inferno lands and Jimmy dismounts does he hear an explosion in the distance that seems to rock the ground he's standing on. Inferno's wings flutter a bit at the sound, her antennae flicking with distress. Jimmy puts a hand on her side as he looks around, his brows furrowing. He hasn't been to Ecruteak many times, but that doesn't mean he wants to see it bombed either. People and Pokemon are at risk, and that's not something he can just stand by and watch.]
no subject
Granted, most would probably call it a reckless lack of impulse control, but that is neither here nor there.
There are a few places to go from here, mind; first of all, there's the dance theatre itself. There are also outdoor soundstages nearby, and of course the museum over there, which is not looking too great. Where would you like to go?]
no subject
Hearing that explosion has given him one clue, and that's that a bomb has already gone off somewhere, obviously. So, his natural inclination is to head that way first to make sure nobody has been hurt. Who even knows where else the other bombs are, but until he's got a better sense of the situation that isn't as important right now.
So it looks like we're going to the museum, but Jimmy's Volcarona definitely looks a lot less eager about heading that way than he does.]
C'mon, we need to make sure nobody got hurt over there.
no subject
Thankfully it's not...a tremendous distance over there, and the dust from the settling debris surely helps when it comes to pinpointing the location; the weapons aren't precisely incendiary - we're not looking at napalm or anything here - but even if there's no fire, that still certainly was a blast that just went off.
What course of action are we taking here, Jimmy?]
no subject
He stops in front of the museum only for a moment just to take a quick assessment of it. That...sure is a blown up section of the building. It doesn't look like it's falling down or anything, but that doesn't mean it's entirely safe, either.
Jimmy gestures for Inferno to keep following as he approaches...because apparently we are going to try to go inside to further investigate the damage. And, of course, check to make sure nobody got...you know, caught in that blast.]
no subject
Where are you going~?
[The voice is high and feminine and incredibly flighty-sounding - almost alarmingly nonchalant, given that it's coming from anywhere near this area. Looking will reveal the source: there's a girl with unkempt dark hair and a long black dress standing nearby. She's standing a little too still, but she's...smiling, at least?]
no subject
[Jimmy stops just before he can get to the museum proper, turning to see who has called out to him. It's both a relief and a concern to see someone else this close to the building, so much so that he starts to come her way without thinking. She doesn't look hurt, so that's a small blessing.]
I was gonna go in the museum, to make sure nobody else is in there! Didn't you hear the explosion just now?
[#logic]
You might not wanna be around here, miss! I don't want you to get hurt, or anything.
no subject
[She cocks her head a little bit to the side.]
Just going to rush in there anyway?
no subject
Or arms.]
Well...yeah, I guess. I mean, what if somebody's trapped in there? They might need help!
no subject
How brave!
[...]
Do you think it's over?
no subject
I don't know. I mean, I'd hope so, but...I can't be sure.
[This just seems like too little to be over that quick.]
no subject
[...She says, bluntly, as though this doesn't bother her at all. She holds her hands out to her sides, letting her fingers flick a bit, mimicking sparkles.]
Boom.
[She giggles again.]
I'm gonna go look for more.
[Good lord, either this girl has less common sense than you do or she's completely out of it; either way, she probably shouldn't be left alone...]
no subject
[Jimmy leans back on his heels slightly, frowning. He wasn't here for any previous attacks, so that takes him off guard for a moment. Just over his shoulder his Volcarona is hovering uneasily over the ground, her gaze never leaving the strange girl.
But the next thing she says snaps him out of it.]
Oh no, you- you probably shouldn't! It's too dangerous! Maybe...we should find somewhere safer for you to be until all of this is straightened out?
no subject
Judging by her expression, she doesn't...quite know what to do with that.]
Okay.
[At least she doesn't seem inclined to fight. Where exactly are we taking the girl, Jimmy?]
no subject
Jimmy turns to look back into town, frowning.]
The Pokemon Center should be safe. I don't think anyone could have gotten a bomb in there after that threat went out, right?
[He's probably giving the place far too much credit, but he's also just glad nothing else is exploding yet.]
It's the best place I can think of that isn't leaving the town altogether, and I dunno if we have time to get out.
[...there's always offering to fly her out of here, but he's still worried about the rest of the people living in Ecruteak on top of everything else.]
no subject
The Center is this way. I don't think it blew up last time.
[She glances back at him, that weird manic smile still present across her features.]
Don't you remember? It was in February. Someone did something like this.
no subject
I don't remember that. I actually came here sometime in February...but it must've been after all that happened.
[Jimmy's likely the one person who wouldn't be immediately put off by that smile of hers. It has an unnerving quality to it, no doubt, but it's the same principle; at least she's smiling.
Right?]
no subject
[...]
Maybe we can catch the guy who did it.
[That is some very enthusiastic tugging toward the Center; somehow it's doubtful that the person you're looking for is inside, but you know what, at least we're going somewhere.]
no subject
[Jimmy continues to follow her as quickly as he can, thank God for these stupid long legs of his.]
no subject
[Her words are cut off, however, by something that isn't exactly anything anybody wanted to hear - the outdoor soundstage mentioned earlier quite simply explodes like hell, the blast loud and reverberating through the streets of the city.
The girl shrieks, ducking down instinctively; what now?]
no subject
He doesn't stay that way long, though, and it's the sound of his Volcarona's frantic chittering that gets his attention.]
Come on, we need to get out of here, now!
no subject
[She manages to straighten up reasonably well, even if she's looking a bit shaky; we're changing directions, Jimmy, come on.]
There's a way out to one of the nearby routes this way. Most people don't know about it.
no subject
But what about the Pokemon Center?
[He asks as he...follows anyway.]
no subject
Do you want to get out of here or not?
no subject
...No, you're right. Let's go.
