Where: Goldenrod City

Summary: It's finally the day, the day where they finally get to destroy Goldenrod City. Friends turn on each other. Family members begin to doubt one another. Forts are made. Snipers are around. Screams are in the air. This is paintball.

[ In the front of the Breeding Centre of Goldenrod City, there's a small stage placed down. On said stage is one microphone stand and one Souji Seta with his Riolu pawing at him. Pick up, pick upppp. Hold on, audience. ]

Not now, Setanta. I promise later.

[ Whoops, sorry about that. Just having to deal with a shy Pokemon. It's just going back inside the centre to mope until dinner time. So, turning his attention back to the audience, Souji clears his voice. ]

Thanks again for signing up for the game of paintball, guys.

The game is simple: be the last team standing and then be the last person standing in the final round. I've sent out a text to everyone on what team you should be on, but if you've forgotten, I have a chart up here for you to check. [ Pointing his thumb back at a sheet of paper taped to some whiteboard stand. ]

For some teams, due to uneven numbers, we have these four Pikachus that will be playing along... [ At that exact moment, four Pikachus holding paintguns walk up. They look pretty intimidating. All of them are wearing their team colour scarves over their mouths and they look like they're ready to tear someone's face off. One of them has an eye-patch, another is wearing some glasses, and the last one is... is that one smoking a cigar? ] Apparently, they're really good at paintball for some reason. [ Souji is looking like this right now, so he has no idea. ]

[ A-Anyway... ] I've also sent out a list of rules to your gears, but once again, if you've forgotten, check out the stand. Main points are that the use of Pokemon in the game are forbidden except for the four Pikachus here and you can't enter any buildings to get onto the roofs.

So, grab your team colours on the table beside the stand-- [ He points to it. ] --and a paintball gun from the table next to it. All guns must be returned at the end of the game, but if you want to keep it, just find me at the end of the game to pay for it.

Paintball refills are over at this stage as well or at the Pokemon Centre. Those are the only two neutral zones, so you can't shoot others there. There's also refreshments, but don't take too long of a break.

Well, that's enough from me. Grab a gun, goggles or sunglasses, and team colour.

In ten minutes when the clock strikes noon, let the game begin.

[Envy turns so that he's facing Roy fully again, aiming his gun again. There's not much point keeping up the shaky pretense of accident anymore.]

Actually, no. I'd have been surprised if you didn't.

[With that, he grabbed a trashcan lid off a nearby can -- and opened fire at the same time.]

I know what I am, so why be ashamed of it?

[Envy's reaction time has actually improved from all this time spent learning how to fight like a human, and he manages to duck down, firing up at Roy a few times before trying to dive for the cover of the other side of the dumpster.]

[Roy blocked the shots with the trash can lid, then returned fire. However, a paintball gun was quite different from a handgun, so most of his shots were off.]

Tch.

[Roy kept his gun aimed above the dumpster.]

[Envy got hit in the leg by one of those shots, but the paintball failed to burst. Which stung a lot more than he'd expected.]

Son of a-- [Envy waits a long moment before popping up from his hiding spot. and firing immediately. Leaving him open to being shot, but he doubts he'd get a good angle from the side and he's hoping to just hit Roy first. So he aims down at Roy's legs where he might not think to shield, and then quickly swinging his aim upwards to his torso.]

[Roy practices The Best Way to Not Get Shot -- i.e. moving. He turns sideways to prevent a narrower profile and jumps sideways, firing half a dozen paintballs at Envy as he moves.]

[Envy tries to duck out of the way of the shots and keep firing at the same time, moving to the side as well and trying to circle. He feels at least one of the shots hit and splatter him in paint, but you know?]

[He's Envy, he doesn't need to stop shooting just because of some stupid human rules. So he keeps firing, the close range letting him pay a little more attention to actually aiming.]

[Around the same time, Roy feels one strike him and burst open. But at this point, he didn't care. He was just pissed off now.

Thus, Envy wasn't the only participant who continued to fire despite being eliminated from the game.]

[Envy can't deny that it's satisfying to see a shot connect, even if it is only paint. He dashes for the cover of another trash can, firing as he runs and feeling a few more shots hit, but that doesn't stop the vicious smirk from spreading across his face. It's an expression that Roy might recognize.]

Not one for following the rules either, are you?

[It figures that the first time these two meet in person is the time when they've been handed the closest thing Johto has to guns.]
