good morning, rose! i missed you...
Who:
usedwindything
usedtherapy
Where: Goldenrod Inn
When: Evening of the 22nd
Summary: Rose wakes up from her canon update coma a day later than expected, but that's okay. It's not like the timing really effects his surprise date plans.
Rating: G (perhaps occasional language? Idk)
Log:
[To say that he was happy to see her eyes finally open again was perhaps the grossest understatement imaginable. He wasn't just "happy", no. "Happy" was far too weak of a word to describe John's emotional state, but he was far too worked up to think of a better one. So we're just going to say that he was really super duper happy or something. But that's not the point. The point is, Rose is awake again and gosh darnit girl, why did it take you an extra day he was starting to get worried!]
[So anyway, Rose is conscious again, John is trying not to pass out from excitement, there are hugs all around, and it was basically the most joyous of reunions imaginable. Too bad we won't actually get to see it played out.]
[Fast forward a few minutes. Rose is still in bed, sending a message to let people know that she's conscious and fine again; John is in the small hotel kitchenette, attempting to make chicken friend rice. Because he's been planning what is sure to be an incredibly romantic stay-at-home date ever since Nepeta planted the idea in his head last week. And he knows Rose likes Chinese food and this is really the only dish he thinks he could pull off.]
[Keyword there being think. While John may be able to handle simpler things like pastas, soups, and even plain rice with no trouble at all, fried rice is proving to be a bit too advanced for him at moment. With as much as they're on the road and with how limited the hotel kitchens are, it's not like he's had a ton of cooking practice here. Or maybe he should have tried making it a few times BEFORE tonight so he had a better idea of what he was doing. Or better yet, gone out to dinner instead and left it to people who actually know what they're doing. Then maybe there wouldn't be the scent of something burning coming from the kitchen.]
[At least he hasn't managed to set the fire alarm off yet?]

John? Is everything alright in there?
no subject
Yeah! Everything's fine! One hundred percent a-okay. Just stay right where you are and don't worry about a thing!
[Nope.]
no subject
...Guile, how about you go in there and check on him for me?
[[As the Pokemon nods and trots into the kitchen, her owner sighs and lays back down to stare at the ceiling.
This is so weird.]]

[In any case, he continues what he's doing (vainly trying to keep dinner from burning moreso than it already is), completely unaware that he has a little visitor in the kitchen.]
Maybe if I just...turn the heat down a little bit...
[He can fix this...he can totally fix this...]

Yeeeowch! Aah, ahhhh... [That would be his wrist hitting the frying pan. He's going to hope Rose didn't hear that, grab his wrist and ouch that doesn't make the burn hurt less. What if he runs over to the sink and sticks it under the faucet? While simultaneously turning around to see what the source of the noise was?]
Ah! Guile! Shoo! [He waves his unburnt hand at her, signaling for her to leave the kitchen.] I'm surprising Rose, shoo! No spying!
[Yeah, he's doing such a good job at this surprise thing.]

[Or the smoke detector will go off. And then the sprinkler. Right over John's head.]

...you burned yourself didn't you?

Let me see.

Fine. However I'm leaving you with Guile. And please be careful.

...come to think of it, she...hadn't remembered their relationship back home. A fact both disconcerting and a tad heart breaking.
Nothing she should be surprised by though, really.
With a quiet nod, she returns to the living room, sitting down and staring at her things in contemplation. Perhaps she'll do a little knitting...]]

[So about ten minutes later, all that's taken care of and John is once again staring at the mess in the kitchen sink. Sigh. Really only one thing to do about this...]
Hey...Rose? [Kinda just...peeking out of the kitchen and into the living room.]
no subject
Yes, John?

Take out sounds lovely.
