Summary: It takes a lot of planning to keep a stubborn person down... or to just have another stubborn person step up to the plate. Fang seems to be that person.
Rating: PG? There might be some action, but nothing too bad.

Phew...

[ It's still mid-afternoon, and the sun's still sorta up. Good thing she woke up extra early today... or not. After that brief incident of blood and Riku's insistence (as well as others') for her to stay in bed a little longer, Xion did obey and has gotten a few more hours of rest.

A few.

Now Xion's slipped out of bed and moving around, gathering things and putting on clothes. Axel the Typhlosion and Bahamut the Gabite stand off to the side while Xion rummages amongst her things for her wooden Keyblade. Once she does, she turns to them, knowing the stern looks on their faces. ]

It's only a walk out, and others are coming... I should at least greet them and show them around, right?

[ Axel puffs out a cloud of smoke in his version of a sigh and Bahamut yelps but doesn't do anything further when Xion moves to walk out of the Center. They follow, trying to be quiet themselves since it seems the staff are busy to look out for her at the moment. Riku also seemed to be out doing his own thing once Xion began to rest. Xion's done this kind of sneaking thing before.

Hopefully it works! ]

Lady Luck...? Oh, you believe in her, too?

[Fang and Xion may both believe in Lady Luck, but today she's not being kind. No, today she had Lightning arrive at the Center only to find no trace of Xion, then send the ex-Sergeant scouring the city for the girl who'd wandered away from where she was supposed to be. No surprise she's coming out of a side street and catching sight of the two of them, then.

The fact that Xion is with Fang of all people is more than just a small comfort, but that doesn't change the fact that Lightning looks like she's on the warpath as she walks over. Xion, she told you to stay put.]

[ She hears footsteps coming to her right and fully turns her head to see-

Oh shit. ]

L-Lightning!

[Lightning who is quickly closing the distance between herself and the other two, eyes narrowing as she goes; Fang she'll deal with later, but Xion...

Oh shit is right. She looks...terrible. Worse than on the gear and now Lightning is sure that if she finds whoever did this, she'll be running from the police. For now, however, she simply crosses her arms and gives Xion an incredibly stern look. In it now, missy.]

What did I tell you about taking it easy?

[ Xion briefly glances to Fang, but... no, this is entirely her problem and fault, after all. But still. ]

I am taking it easy. I'm just walking.

[Even Fang getting involved won't spare Xion from a lecture. Not today, anyway.]

When you're supposed to be in bed resting. Do you honestly think doing this now is going to help you get better any faster? Can't train you until you're fully healed, remember?

I know that! [ Getting a bit irritated now. Sheesh, dammit, her body isn't that ready to keel over and croak. And Fang's with her, too. ]

I'm just out getting some fresh air with Fang.

[Lightning doesn't say "do you?" aloud, but it's said in the look in her eyes. Xion's body may not be ready to croak, but it certainly still looks that way.]

Halfway across the city from the Center isn't just fresh air, Xion. How far were you planning on going?

[ She looks at their surroundings. ]

Not... very far. [ It was a very engrossing conversation, Lightning. ]

[ Maybe it's Lightning who should be feeling lucky; despite Lightning's obvious displeasure Fang's first reaction upon actually seeing her in person again was to hug her. For the moment she's safe, but it's time for Fang to insert herself again - she did promise to help.

She touches the back of Xion's shoulder briefly, trying to tell her to relax. Stress isn't going to help her recovery either. ]

Hullo to you too. We were just headed back.

[The hug will have a chance to come later. For now, however, Lightning's still got that terribly stern look on her face that Fang should know well, even if at least half of it is directed at Xion. What will it take to keep her in bed?]

Then I'll go back with you. Keep Leon from doing what I just did.

[Hopefully he's not already looking, too.]

So everyone's here...

[ She glances to Fang at the slight touch of her hand on her shoulder before staring back at Lightning. Well, as much as she could stare back with half a vision.

She lets out a sigh. ]

Yeah, let's go back.

[ Fang takes it more in stride. ] Good. Still have to give ya your present, after all.

[ And then to Xion, as she takes the spot on her blind side - hey, who would you rather be able to keep an eye on? ] Cheer up, Sunshine. Maybe the Bahamuts will put on a show for ya.

Did you honestly expect us not to come?

[Still, Lightning sighs as she walks on Xion's other side with a sidelong glance at Fang over the girl's head. Why is she getting the feeling that this is going to be a repeat incident?]

It's not that. I just wish it was under better circumstances.

We all do. I didn't tell you to stay in bed just to drive you up the wall, you know. Figured you'd at least want to feel better before company got here.

[Said with a short sigh; Lightning knows how annoying it is to stay in bed for so long with nothing to do, but here...here it's one of their only options for healing.]

[ With Fang on her right, Xion only has to turn her head just to bit to look up at Lightning with her left eye. ]

Are you okay, Lightning? Riku said... I think he said you were hurt, too.

[The benefit of winter clothes is that they cover a lot of otherwise exposed areas; there's not much of Lightning for Xion to see other than her face and the almost faded bruise on her forehead. If there's worse, it's unseen.]

I was, but it's nothing to worry about. Fang can tell you we all survived worse. [Nothing as bad as what Xion's suffered here, but worse than bruises and a gash.]

I can believe that. You both have experience.

[ It's in their attitudes, the way they carry themselves... And here she is, bumbling along. ]

[ Fang, meanwhile, is left out of the injury party. She is okay with this, except for the part where people are getting into fights without her. ]

Yeah, we made it. Not that I'd wish it on anyone. But lucky you, gettin' to reap the reward without all that - once you're well enough, of course. Between us you'll be wishin' for your bed.

Huh? What do you mean?

[ Are they talking about training? It sounded like it... ]

That we're the second-best teachers after experience, and a hell of a lot kinder.

[ Fang is trying to steer Xion away from "experience", considering that she seems to come out the worse for wear each time. ]

[Fang missing the fights, well, that's just bad timing. If she's in range the next time Light gets into a fight, she knows she's welcome. Probably.]

Kinder than the monsters who give that experience, at least. I can't say we'll be any easier. Still want this, Xion?

[Fang should be able to tell from Lightning's tone that she's bluffing just a bit, trying to feel out exactly how far Xion is willing to go to do what she plans, and if Fang's attempts at steering are working. Can Xion tell that, though?]

[ The look Xion gives them both... She's not scared. She's faced monsters before, risked her life countless times before. As long as she was just... better at this, better at protecting others, better so she could avoid confrontations like Vanitas from getting too ugly, maybe she'll be content. ]

Yes.

[ She remembers that Fang told her not everyone will like her just because she would do things for them... but that's okay, too. She wants to be of use, somehow, someway. ]

[ Fang knows that tone, and despite Xion's firm response she figures she could help send it back Lightning's way. She purposefully adopts a more carefree tone. ]

See? You can lay off her, Light. I told her how hard it'd be before and she didn't budge.

[ There, now Lightning can yell at her instead, and hopefully avoid triggering Xion's stubbornness. Good cop, bad cop. ...Good l'Cie, bad l'Cie?

Also damn it, Xion, don't misquote her! The point was that people like her even if she isn't helpful. ]
