Spring Cleaning: the beast wakes;
Who: Suicune (
legendarybeasts), Rocket operatives and bystanders in the area
Where: Route 7
When: May 8th, 8:30PM
Summary: Rockets capture Suicune.
Rating: PG-13
Log:
[It runs. The wind carries it, fog is its mantle, and the ground weeps dew at its passing. It has known only endless sleep for so long, and now, it has awakened to the scream of the grass and the clouds, knowing in its heart that the world's Order is not being kept. The Old One sleeps too, too deep, not watching, and then they all fell after it.
But then it heard whispers, up in its cold mountain hideaway where pure crystal water flows in trickling, shimmering rivulets. The water whispered to it, wake up wake up, I am hurt, and it did. Its brothers sleep still, their consciousness tickling at the back of its mind like a reassurance. It does not know what awaits, only that it must run, and seek, and destroy.]

He's pulled out Nagara's Pokéball again; she moves faster than he does normally, simply by merit of covering more ground - and what with the way his body is resisting movement, he's not going to accomplish anything physically, it leaves him as far too open a target. He pauses, then slots Nagara's ball back into position. Switches to Abdiel's. After all, if it's speed he wants...
The Pokédex says that Yanmega is easily strong enough to carry a human adult; Kimblee's never tried it, but the thought exhilerates him. Unfortunately, it doesn't do quite the same for Abdiel, who is...er, very confused as to why her trainer is suddenly jumping on her back, crouching in what has to be an incredibly uncomfortable position and holding on to one of her dorsal spikes like he fully intends to take her into battle like the world's most obnoxiously buzzing steed, but she maintains her general equilibrium and if her trainer wants to play this incredibly strange new game with her, then she seems up to the task.
He notices Crobat and nods acknowledgement to it, pausing just long enough to gesture, indicate that it should follow him, before Abdiel takes off, nearly managing to accidentally throw Kimblee through sheer speed alone. He lets out a bit of an undignified yelp but, to his credit, manages to keep his balance.
He can see Suicune much more clearly now, the lingering effects of the Double Team still flickering; it looks to be going after Archer again. Kimblee smiles a bit at that, though it isn't a nice expression at all; were he in this creature's position, he would be doing the exact same thing.]
You'll make a fine soldier for us, won't you - Kenya! Use Swift on it, try to take it off-course.
[Hopefully Suicune's guard will be down a bit, what with the supposed protection of Double Team up; hopefully it won't be figuring for attacks that don't miss.
Of course, Kimblee is a bit overconfident himself in ordering that attack; once it hits that Mirror Coat, the rebound will hurt, far more than anything Kimblee's Starmie is managing to accomplish against Suicune. At the same time, he can't trust Archer to fully defend himself right now - causing some damage and hopefully deterring it from utilizing the full force of that Ice Fang is all he can really do right now until he can physically be in the same location Archer is; the colonel has been making entirely too many mistakes on this battlefield.
Of course, if Archer surprises him by managing to intercept Suicune himself, he'll be pleased; if all else fails, hopefully he won't try to block a hit like that. Admittedly, there's not much Archer can do right now, but really, blocking is about the dumbest thing out of all possible dumb things that he can actually manage.
At the very least go out in a blaze of glory and punch the legendary in the face?]

[Anyway, Archer notices movement from further away - his Crobat. Good, Kimblee is moving around; he's fine for the time being. With Crobat to use Protect, Kimblee won't be in any real danger. That leaves the Suicune, who seems to have decided that going after Archer is the best course of action. Honestly, he's a bit surprised the creature is capable of attacking humans. It's taken him quite some time to train his into it. But this one is different, isn't it?]
Lucena, Haze!
[He usually doesn't resort to calling out attack names, but this strategy is going to require his Pokémon to react quickly. Direct commands are easier for them to follow. The Honchkrow spreads her wings wide, unleashing a thick fog that covers the area. Alekhine immediately enters the fog, Teleporting Archer out of the way before Suicune's attacks can connect. They land several feet away and Archer's next command is aimed at the Raichu.]
Wait for it... Now! Tabiya, Volt Tackle!
[The Raichu crouches low to the ground, cheeks sparking as he waits for the command. Suicune is close - that Ice Fang attack just barely misses the Electric-type Pokémon - and then at the command, Tabiya launches himself at Suicune in a ball of thunder. Hopefully with the proximity it will be capable of hitting.]
[That leaves the Houndoom, who finally comes running over to Archer. He's badly weakened and honestly, Archer should heal him first. But that would render the next move useless.]
Reversal!
[Maróczy rushes at Suicune as well, directly after Tabiya's electrical currents die down.]

[The timing of events is almost perfect, perhaps by accident, Suicune can't tell: Kenya's attack rebounds off Mirror Coat, but the hiss of impact still throws the vast pokemon off-course enough to send it careening into the Murkrow's Haze.]
[Encased in dark gas, Suicune is forced to slow, its teeth snapping shut just shy of where Archer should be--only to suddenly receive a full-on Volt Tackle to the face.]
[Fucking ow.]
[Stunned, Suicune wobbles for a moment, the titan shaken. Its front legs give way as its vision swims, but Maroczy doesn't give it time to rest before his Reversal hits it hard in the flank. Screaming, Suicune is cast aside, rolling in the snowy grass.]
[Its ribs heaving, it rights itself on shaky legs, the last of its Double Team fading away. Feeling its opponents closing in on it, but unable to see through the Hazy, Suicune howls, summoning up a Gust to clear the air and hopefully knock any more incoming assailants to the ground.]
1/2
Archer
what he could actually see of that was legitimately awesome, what with the haze and the electricity flying everywhere and the...everything
Congratulations; you may have redeemed yourself a bit!
...still going to yell at you later tho :|]

He's learned his lesson from last time, though; beautiful noises like that are often followed by equally beautiful amounts of damage. He signals for Abdiel to bank sharply, move away from the creature; she's still clipped rather hard by it, making one of those horrendous noises that Yanmega are noted for as she drops down to the ground, jarring Kimblee off rather hard. He drops as well, planting one knee and both hands rather hard on the ground.
Hearing that sound from Abdiel from so close makes him realize exactly why the Pokédex had speculated that the noises these things make have the potential to inflict internal injuries on their adversaries in battle. He sincerely doubts she's done any such thing, to him or Suicune or otherwise, but that noise was terrible.
That said, however, the Gust has cleared the air rather well; between that and Alekhine's teleporting, Kimblee is rather closer to Archer than he'd thought initially. The ground between them is easily covered; he recalls Kenya as he approaches. As he'd thought, the Mirror Coat had knocked her right out; at least Abdiel is back up and in the air, dazed and none too happy about it but still battle-capable.]
Air Slash, Abdiel.
[The order is curt, sharp, issued in the sort of tone that Abdiel knows better than to balk at, regardless of how displeased she is right now. He knows he should be focusing on the battle, and it isn't entirely truthful to say that he's not - at the same time, his attention is more closely focused on his commanding officer.]
Archer.
[The name is more of an acknowledgement, both of Archer's presence and Kimblee's current willingness to take orders; it doesn't leave much room for conversation or arguing. Let's do this thing, shall we?]

[There's some kind of horrid shriek from Abdiel and Archer winces - it's closer than he thought it would be. Alekhine must have teleported them closer to Kimblee. Archer nods to Kimblee as he approaches.]
Kimblee.
[There's a distinctive note of relief in his voice, but Archer ignores it for now. They're in the middle of something much more important - Kimblee had better not call him out on that. He returns Maróczy; the Gust attack was more than the Houndoom could take. He's down to four, but he's not worried. Lucena is still flying overhead, Crobat is battered but still conscious, Alekhine is fine, and Tabiya is... Oh goddammit, where did that Raichu go?]
[Tabiya comes rushing back, bouncing from one foot to the other. From the nearly demonic expression, it's quite clear that he's having fun.]
Good work. Switch to Thunderbolt - look out for Lucena and Abdiel.
[Tabiya darts off immediately. Crobat returns to rest wearily on Archer's shoulders and he dismisses Alekhine.]
Energy Ball. Focus on staying alive rather than attacking. Teleport any weakened Pokémon out of the way.
[That leaves Lucena who swoops higher up in the sky. Archer's orders are relayed to her through Alekhine - Sky Attack. It's Lucena's most powerful move, and if that connects it will hopefully do a lot of damage.]
What Pokémon do you have left? We're almost there.
[That's directed at Kimblee, of course. They're so close. If they can capture this Pokémon and hand it over to Team Rocket then they'll certainly get a promotion.]
[...Of course, that's implying that they'd part with the Pokémon.]

Dorian is fine. Anthony has taken only minor damage, but Abdiel took that harder than I thought she would due to connecting with the ground; she's injured, as is Nagara. Kenya has fainted, and I have Carlisle in reserve.
[So five that can battle, however he only has three that really should, two of which are fire-types and one that's part ground.
...yeah.]

[...In other words, Kimblee's Pokémon are weak against Water. Great.]
You don't have any Revives?
[Don't bother answering that, Archer has a spare one. He passes that over without a word and pulls another one from his bag; Axis could prove very useful if he can manage to hit with Zap Canon.]
[Archer trains with Kimblee on a daily basis. He has a decent idea of what moves Kimblee's Pokémon know. Dorian is better suited to this battle since Suicune seems content to keep spamming Special Attacks. Dorian also knows Energy Ball, so there's that...]
Get Dorian out. He shouldn't be taken out very easily and he can at least help land a few hits.
[Archer uses the Revive on Axis and the Porygon-Z beeps in recognition.]
Stay here; can you manage to Lock-On to Suicune?
[The Pokémon nods and focuses intently on the legendary. If he can time it just right, Archer can land several hits in succession.]
Zap Canon - right after Lucena attacks!

Dorian's around there somewhere; he's a smart thing, he's probably found a vantage point to keep himself safe, if for no better reason than battling and getting wailed on is filthy.]
Anthony. Keep an eye on how this thing responds to what's being sent out; if it tries to flee, I want you to cut it off. Flamethrower in its path; don't try to hit it, it will likely evade. Just cut it off.
Dorian, try to connect with Energy Ball once it's stalled.
