Outbreak: The Explosions
Who: Open!
Where: Goldenrod, Ecruteak, and Saffron City
When: July 13th, All Day
Summary: The Pokémon Centers have been destroyed, and there's panic in the streets!
Rating: PG-ish!
Log:
For the three cities in question, the picture painted is around the same. The Centers have been destroyed, completely and utterly demolished by... Well. They aren't sure. The smoke still lingers in the air, the building's rubble still hot and smoldering from the destruction. Officer Jennys have roped the place off, some of them investigating the crime scene, some asking eyewitness accounts. They're still not sure what happened, and they can't give answers to anyone who asked; all they're saying, all they're able to say, is that everything is currently being investigated and they will report the moment they can. Only a very few are being allowed into the debris; it's dangerous, but with enough coaxing and a good enough reason, they'll let someone look through it for a short amount of time. However, there aren't any answers that can be found to explain this.
The current News reporters are all over this. People and pokémon with cameras are asking anyone if they know what happened or had seen anything, trying to alert the public in both the Kanto and Johto regions that everything is okay and to come forth with information once they hear anything. They just try to keep from creating public panic, so they do their best as reporters to cover the story. It's not much, but it helps.
For the patients who were already in the centers, and for those who were injured further, they're currently being bussed or flown to neighboring city Centers for better treatment. For the Nurses who can still work and the ones who have come in, the three cities are now stationing tents for help. They can't heal pokémon--the machines were broken--but they've got blankets and bandages and a few potions to help out. The Inns are housing many of them for free for that night, and the next few nights to come until they can get some things worked out. The nurses are looking for volunteers, anyone on-hand and willing to help out with the people currently nursing any injuries.
But everything is looking somewhat grim. Until the police are able to catch who did it, the most they can do is investigate. Judging by the damages, they're not going to have the pokéCenters in these city for another month or two at least. They're back to square one.
Citizens... please, don't panic.
[The NPCs and normal citizens won't be able to give you any details on what happened. The effects are spreading across the regions now; strange symptoms are beginning to surface. This outbreak starts now.]

GOLDENROD CITY

He needed to make sure no-one was hurt. And so telling the house of his intentions, he made his way to the site.
Upon arrival he paused, confused. He hadn't expected this at all; maybe a house fire or something slightly disastrous, but the Pokémon Center had been something he just hadn't even considered. What would people do without the healing machines?
To say that the Other Father had a bad feeling about this was an understatement.
((ooc; kids at the house/anyone he may be with, feel free to tag along.
Also, Other Father's going to be offering housing for the night. He has about 14 beds free (bunkbeds set up for the kids). ))
no subject
So, yes. Don't mind the frantic looking pink-haired lady, Other Father. Nothing to see here!]
no subject
Father's been getting ill recently along with the rest of the world, but what with never actually being ill before, he's not even considering the chance of infection. He looks a bit worse for the ware though, under the panic.
When he approaches Lightning, he puts on sympathetic smile with a hint of caution; fake smiles for the right while.]
Need any help?
no subject
My sister. She was...[she stops, shaking her head.] I lost track of her. I need to find her.
[And with all these people running around like headless birds, it's hard to spot anyone specific.]
no subject
Catching up to him, she stopped just a little ways behind him in slight shock. Just like father, she wasn't expecting it to have been something like the Pokemon Center, and to see this? Well...this just wasn't good.
no subject
She's grinning inappropriately so for the mess of people about looking forlorn.
no subject
When she sees it's the Pokémon Center that was destroyed, she stops dead in her tracks.
"Oh my god..."
What kind of horrible person could have done this?
no subject
Who could've done this? His first thought immediately went to Team Rocket. It's a logical assumption, when they're the biggest, most well known criminal organisation around. Attacking the Pokemon Centre is a big move. The service there is important to anyone, whether they have a Pokemon or not.]
C'mon, Ada.
[He moves through through the crowd with his Mightyena by his side, hoping to find someone he knows. Or anyone with an idea what's going on. Hopefully, his friends are safe.]

.. Uu-.. help Maria? [ she pouts a little. ]
no subject
Yeah. I can help you. What do you help for?
no subject
But.. Maria's too small, can't see at all..

The explosion caught him off guard. He'd been on his way out anyway, heading for a break. Thankfully, he'd managed to drag several of the Chanseys with him and they all stood outside surveying the damage.
Roxas could feel his anger growing. Team Rocket had to be behind this, he figured and now, more than ever, he wanted to find them and get some form of revenge. This wasn't right.
If only he hadn't developed pounding headache.]
no subject
Caution or not, he wasn't about to sit tight with sounds like that. A few seconds were all it took to find his Arcanine and head out down the street. And the fire dog had no trouble sniffing out the smoke and anxiety, after all, landing Yuugi in front of the center remains in no time.
Then Yuugi takes a moment to just stand and stare, but only until he catches sight of a familiar face among the surveyors.]
Roxas? [Have a breeder coming right on over.] Hey, what... Was anybody hurt in- this?
no subject
Yuugi...h-hey.
[He takes a breath and tries to stand up a bit straighter.]
I...I don't know. I managed to get the Chanseys out at least, so they weren't hurt. I don't know about anyone else.
no subject
If there is, you making sure the Chanseys got out will be a huge help. [He's seen from raising one himself what they can manage with healing all on their own.
Still- he's wary of any of them getting back into that mess. Not to mention Roxas.]
You better have one of them look at you- Or at least Nurse Joy, if she's alright...

[Deep breath, one thing at a time. He was sitting on the ground outside the Pokemon Center--no, where the Center used to be. His Arbok was coiled loosely around him, as if she worried he'd fall over at any minute. His Kadabra had meanwhile taken it upon himself to bandage the slightly bleeding injury to his Trainer's head.]
[And...oh, his glasses were broken. But he absentmindedly accepted that it was better that than his neck, right? And taking as careful inventory as he could, nothing seemed to be fractured or broken. Bruised to all hell, sure, but thankfully not broken.]
[Otacon couldn't have been more out of his element if he tried to be. He wasn't a soldier, he was just the voice on the other line. So if there was a slight nervous tremble in his shoulders, it was surely just because of the shock and being thrown so far out of what he was used to. It almost certainly had nothing to do with how he was mentally cursing how something like this had to happen now, while he was on his own.]
[Exactly what good was the voice on the other line without anyone to hear him?]
no subject
Even so, the man on the ground needed help. Help that Gorthan could provide. Help that Gorthan had to provide, if he wanted to be at least a tiny bit at peace with himself.
He approached the injured man, kneeling before him. He made sure that both of his hands were in sight, to let his Pokémon know that he meant no harm.]
Your injury. May I see it?
no subject
[Ow, looking up hurt. True to her usual overprotective nature, the Arbok hissed and started to bare her fangs before Otacon placed a hand on her back.]
Uh...y-yeah, sure. Don't worry about her, she's h-harmless.
[At his other side, Otacon's Kadabra bristled visibly before stepping back just a little.
no subject
My name is Gorthan. The professional titles I have in my world of origin mean nothing here - but know that I am qualified to do this.
[His expression remained cold even as he looked at the head injury, checking for signs that it could be bad or have repercussions later.]
Are you able to stand?

... Except that that night, he's completely unable to sleep. You will find him in the street, heading for the Goldenrod tent, clutching a bag containing four Revives, four Full Heals and this one Ether he once found in the grass and had saved.
... Who is he kidding. That smug, authoritative exterior he has while prancing around the lab and ordering other scientists around is just an act. He hates himself.]
no subject
All things considered, they probably are.
Still, he can't help but linger near the wreckage of his former place of employment, silent and quietly aghast at the destruction. But when Gorthan goes past, he pipes up, his voice soft and faintly tired.]
Ah, excuse me. Are you going over to help the people in the tents?
[It couldn't hurt to ask. He's got a bag of his own, after all.]
no subject
Gorthan knew this risk existed, and yet he had ventured outside into the night anyway. Without turning to fully face the person who just spoke to him, he looks at him out of the corner of his eye.]
... I am going to make a donation. It's not much, but it's all I can offer.
no subject
At that remark, though, Yagyuu sets down the bags he's carrying and digs into one of the ones hanging off his horse's side, producing a few Heals of his own.]
Would you mind taking these with you? I'd go myself, but I don't have the time to stop for long, and I suspect I'd only be underfoot as it is.

Fortunately, even if he was a member of the team, he didn't have to do anything. There were really no orders to say that.
So he could be in the city, in the middle of the panic, and help people who needed help... well, at least the ladies.]
