NOT GONNA RAICHU A LUV SONG
Who: Vanitas and Karkat
Where: Celadon City
When: Aug 25th during the day.. like lunchtime?
Summary: HOLY FUDGE WHAT DOES ONE DO FOR DATES? This is a first date and hopefully, not as awkward as most first dates go...
Rating: PG-13 cause curses are normal for KK
Log:
Vanitas didn't really know how to do a date, but he had really basic ideas from all of thosedamn romantic comedy movies Karkat has watched over the months. Leaving a note taped to the sleepy-heads forehead saying to meet him for lunch at "Josie's Diner" was the first part. While he didn't exactly dress up, Vani made sure to wear clothes that weren't dirty or for travel. Sneakers, jeans, t-shirt with a sleeved zip up sweatshirt... that's about as nice as it gets.
Standing outside the diner with his hands in his pockets to keep himself from looking antsy, Vanitas thought over his "plan". First stop was lunch, second was a movie, then... wander the city? Can't hurt. He remembers a few neat places from the last time he was here. Scrunching his face in thought though, he frowns a touch.
Does that all sound right for a date? Sounds kind of... simple, now that it's already in motion.Craaaappppp.

Once dressed in something clean and ironed, Karkat slowly made his way over to the diner. He was early, of course. Karkat had this thing about punctuality. It wasn't until Karkat got there and took in Vanitas' posture that it really hit him what the other was trying to do. He bit his lip to hide his snort of amusement and quell the rush of anxiety that came with the revelation. He just had to play it cool. Vanitas was probably even more nervous.
"Hey."
no subject
"Hey." His mouth stayed open a moment, almost about to ask if he's hungry, but duh. Lunch. Fidgeting his hands in his pockets a minute, he pulls them out and moves then to open the door, half gesturing for him to go in first.

Karkat slipped inside, waiting for Vanitas. Bonus points for surprise date. He was going to have to up his own game when his turn came up.

"Pick wherever you want to sit." Translation: I'm working on it.

With a snort, Karkat put his hands on Vani's cheeks. Then he put his thumbs in the corners of that mouth and tugged. Seriously, Vanitas. This really would be no different than hanging out together. Relax and have fun with it. That's what dates were all about.
"Have fun, idiot."
no subject
"I just want it to go right." It doesn't change that he's quirking a smile all over again though, trying to pull his face back out of the tugging hands.

"What else you got planned?"
no subject
"Movie. Wandering town." There's a glance though that's wordlessly asking if that sounds alright.
no subject
He kind of liked the idea of a city walk at night.

"There's an arcade of sorts too, with coin flips and slots." The grin makes him relax though, settling into his seat a bit more and taking in a relieved sort of breath.
"The streets light up at night too, so it's impossible to get lost."

"After our gym badges sound good?"
no subject
"It will be like a celebration. I'll teach you how we gamer types do it."

and a second date?. Looking back at the menu and quirking his mouth, debating between a few things, Vanitas winds up distracted by the waiter approaching. At least they have all day breakfast, so in the last few seconds he gets to decide while the guy takes Karkat's order, Vani gets pancakes. With a side of hash browns and ham. It's more than he usually eats, but hey. Going to try and increase the amount, starting today.

He noticed that Vanitas got pancakes. Actually, it was a decent sized order, all things considering. Yes, Karkat did notice the little things like that. Gave him a touch of pride, it did. It meant at least he was doing good by at least one person. "Are you actually going to eat it all?"
no subject
"Going to try. I need to push my stomach every now and then, right?" They're going walking after anyway, so it's not like he won't be burning the extra calories off... but there might be some working out before going to bed.
no subject
"If you try to sneak out to work out, I'm liable to kick you in that stomach."
He was serious.
no subject
"What? Why? I wouldn't work out until later tonight anyway.."
Vani lifts one hand up onto the table though and reaches across, trying to play it cool in lightly bumping their fingers together. Turning his hand over then in an offer, he just leaves his hand palm up.
no subject
"Because you're allowed to gorge every once and a while."
no subject
It's mumbled, because he's more attentive to the hand in his, and the simple gesture has Vanitas trying not to smile like a total derp. It's still a pretty silly looking smile though. Squeezing that hand in his, yup yup.

no subject
"Slowing down when sparring, obviously."
no subject
"Eh... Forget about it."
no subject
That little flush has him paying close attention, just attentively watching. Rubbing his cheek once and lowering their joined hands, Vanitas just quietly smiles again. Looking up on sensing someone approaching, oh look, it's their food! It came pretty quick, considering, but hey. No complaints.
He's not going to be the first to let go though.
