["Clefairy clef clefair clef fairy clef!" Rose says that this Shuppet was there last night and so he might have seen something!

The Shuppet is definitely struggling, though Jehra (who still isn't looking up) actually has a rather gentle grip with his teeth, all things considered. Firm, but gentle. Dusk would be able to understand his whines as insisting that he "din' see nothin' last night, there ain't no way you can' prove there was an ahgument between the Shuppets and Duskulls" or something to that effect.

Of course, he starts struggling even harder once he sees 'Marian'...]

*Dusk cocks her head and then wanders up to the Shuppet dangling from Jehra's jaws, moving casually, though still managing to catch the glint of light reflected off her horn...

"You recognize this person?" she asks calmly*

[He's a terrified little Shuppet, but he's shaking his head no. "No way, ain't no way I recognize that guy! A-An' even if I did, there wasn' any ahgument that he might've got acciden'ly caught up in, an' I'd get in trouble wi' the boss if I lied an' said there was!"

He's a worse liar than Ryner...]

*.....yeah he is. While Dusk, meanwhile, has learned from the best...

"So there wasn't any argument? And nothing happened in any argument?"*

["'Zac'ly. No ahguments, an' def'nitely no masks bein' thrown 'round in any ahguments. Say, yer'a nice Absol, right? Could'ya get yer friend here t'let me go?"

"Wait, a mask is doing this?" Rose asks, all subtlety lost because this is a new lead. "What kind of mask??"

"I din' say nothin' 'bout any masks!"]

*Dusk gives Rose a sharp look normally reserved for the troublemakers on Sion's team, then turns her attention back to the Shuppet.

"I didn't hear anything about any masks," she remarked. "It's silly to ask what kind of a mask that isn't there..."

She was grateful that as it was Jehra couldn't butt in with ill-timed remarks, as well. She'd learned from observing how Sion dealt with difficult people and pokemon, but this wasn't something she'd exactly had much practice doing...*

[To be fair, Jehra's so... whatever emotion he is right now that even if he could say anything he probably wouldn't. (Regardless, this much stewing probably isn't healthy, but...)

Rose huffs a little because all she's trying to do is find out what she can about what's going on.

"Right?" the Shuppet continues, still trying to wiggle his way out of this situation. "Def'nitely din' say nothin' bout no masks, an' def'nitely nothin' bout no Yamasks' masks, 'cause there ain't none o' those around either. An' the boss'd get real mad if I ever lied an' said there were."

...The narration has no comment.]

*Dusk nods to that answer, making careful note of the unfamiliar name. Not a species she's heard of before.

"Of course there aren't," she said patiently, glancing at Rose with a look that said See? This is what we want to know, right?*

["So, since we's in agreement that there definitely ain't no way any Yamask's mask got tossed 'round at all, can I go now?"

Rose thinks that this lying game that the Shuppet is playing is stupid, but fine, she'll concede that you're getting results, Dusk.]

*Dusk cocks her head at the question, then glances past the Shuppet to the other two pokemon.

"What do you think, Rose? Jehra?"*

["He's rude and unhelpful," Rose says with a huff.

Jehra still says nothing, though if one looks closely, he does give a small shrug. There's not much more that this Shuppet is going to be able to tell them (or, well, not tell them), he thinks.]

*"Of course," Dusk replies, glancing at Rose and then back to the Shuppet. "He hasn't told us a thing, after all. We might as well let him go."*

[Jehra releases the Shuppet, who happily flies a circle around Dusk. "Oh, thank you, thank you! You's real kind. I'll put in a good word wit' the boss for you. You ain't got nothin' t'worry 'bout from us Shuppets!"

And then he floats off, presumably to wherever the rest of the local Shuppet mafia is hiding.]

*once the Shuppet's gone Dusk takes a moment to nuzzle Jehra briefly, before heading back over to Sion, who's been watching all this intently*

*he crouches and reaches out to pet Dusk's head as she approaches*

Rose mutters something about learning that Shuppets are jerks and that lying games are stupid while she goes to grab the notebook.]

*Dusk happily accepts the petting, then starts gesturing with a paw. Sion watches her a moment, considering...*

*"Sol." Dusk nods in confirmation, while Sion goes to pull it out*
