subjects are overrated, who needs them?
Who: John Egbert and Rose Lalonde (And introducing the new friend: Dave Strider)
Where: Vermilion City
When: 11/18/12
Summary: Rose wakes up from her spontaneous coma (canon update) and John takes her on a highly romantic date in a Dragonair gondola. Be jelly.
Rating: PG for language and teenage butt-touching.
Log:
Since this wasn't the first time it had happened and, overall, it was hardly a rare occurrence in this world, John hadn't been too terribly worried when Rose passed out the previous Sunday. He knew she'd be back up again in a week or so, though that still hadn't prevented him from spending more time inside the room than out. After all, what if she woke up early?
He was pretty sure that was a thing that could happen, so better safe than sorry!
But there was one thing that he did have to leave the room for that he just couldn't avoid and that was work. But it was honestly a good thing he had, because if he had called out? He probably wouldn't have been able to concoct the date plan he was currently waiting to put into motion. It just needed one last thing, and that was a conscious Rose.
Okay, well technically a conscious John as well. Because at around 8 in the morning, he was just as unconscious as Rose, lying next to her in the bed with an arm over her and Michael J. the Zorua nestled between them. Rose's face is covered in a variety of marker doodles, the most prominent being a proclamation of "i love butts." scrawled across her forehead. Though there's also some kitty whiskers and more than likely at least one penis because apparently Dave wanted to play too. Seems the boys got a little bored while Rose was unconscious.
Aaaa lazy Sundays. Aren't they great?

He still has that bemused smile on his face. Rose, how could you lead when you don't even know what he has planned. Come on, now.

He reaches out and takes her hand once she's close enough, grinning from ear to ear.
"Shouldn't be too much longer though." Since, you know...it's almost December and all.

Wherever it is they're going, it's a decent ways away from the inn. John swings their hands a little as they walk, humming as he leads Rose past the Center, past a few houses, the mart, some more houses, and eventually to what appears to be a man-made canal near the docks.

"What have you been up to while I was gone?"
no subject
He doesn't even seem to have realized the somewhat awkward slip up he made there, as he just continues talking while leading Rose down some stone steps and towards the canal. "That's where I heard about this though. Work, I mean. Not those other things. Anyway, it sounded pretty much perfect so of course I had to go check it out for myself. And with you unconscious, I had plenty of time to get this all figured out and more or less set up..."
He stops at the edge of the water. 'This' apparently refers to a gondola. But not just any gondola...a Dragonair gondola. Because this is the World of Pokemon and nothing can be normal.

"You are wonderful. Did you know that?"
no subject
"Well I do try. What are we waiting for though? Get in, get in! It didn't set this up just for you to stare at it."
Shoo, shoo! Get in the boat, gurl.

"Ready?"
no subject
"I think so."
no subject
"What's that look for? Don't worry, I won't crash the boat. Or rock it. Or both."
And with that, he unties the gondola and pushes off the dock lightly with the oar.
"Here we go!"

He is the boat-driving master.
It is him.

This is nice. Not that he expected it to be anything other than that, but still. He even managed to time it just right for the sunset. Just as planned.
"We should come back and do this again sometime in the summer, what do you think? I bet it's even prettier then."
no subject
She's not very fond of that.
After a moment, she's back to watching John. "You look like you've been doing that for years. Or at least a week."

He's clearly making a jab at her here. Gosh, ROse. You talk too much.
