Who: EVERYONE who wants to participate!
Where: Violet City
When: Dec 1st, 3rd, 4th. Basically, four days of parties and cake because why skip the 2nd!
Summary: It's too many peoples birthdays at once. Jake and Jade on the first, Dave on the third, Rose and Roxy on the fourth. THERE WILL BE CAKE. THERE WILL BE HATS. THERE WILL BE GIFTS! There will also be screaming because the music in Violet City sucks.
Rating: PG-13? They all swear.

It's only when the last of the decorations is being placed, the last cake that one of Jake's friends made is brought out, and the last few meal trays are set in the dining section, that Cheria rolls down her sleeves and wipes her forehead. It was a little tough getting it all together for more than just one person, but overall, it paid off! The building she rented is big enough, and since it was for four days instead of the one, the renters gave her a discount and full use of the kitchen; just so long as nothing is broken, or at least gets replaced.

There were signs in each corner over tables as to where people can put gifts for each individual, but that really is all there is for separating guests. There's a table out by the back doors with Pokemon food, and a safe, fenced in area for smaller ones to play in; as well as board games, decks of cards, and various other games and toys scattered about the place. Really, the actual toys are more for Pokemon that won't leave their trainers. Twister is set up near the drinks, and there's a small dance floor, and while there isn't much for music or anyone to flip cds, Cheria will take that task on unless someone thinks of something better.

It is so time to open the doors.

Yeah probably. But it's still pretty sweet swag. [He remembers it in bits and pieces. It's like looking at broken glass and knowing it was all once part of an object.]

Another Pokemon, some winter gear, a carving Jake made that's pretty awesome, sis coupons which is basically ways to hang out with Rose, and a sweater. The last one I'll slip on later. It's getting cold out which is to be expected I guess. Not like it's going to pour rain when it can just snow us out instead. <small[He intends to hunt down some ice pokemon though. And evolve his eevee into something.]

Then I can assume it's been a good wriggling day? Oh, by the way: I really liked your music from the first day!! Not that today wasn't good, too. [ But adventure-slanted beats? Yes please. ]

It's been a boss day of birth, yeah. [Oh hello. His eyebrows shot up as he took a second to soak in the compliment.] So you like the explorer theme? I figured since Jake's all about the ruins what better than some beats styled that way?

Yes!!! It was very fitting. Maybe that's why I liked it, too, actually! That's an interest we share. Jake and I, I mean.

If you got any requests, I can take them back with me and start working on mixes for them. It's no trouble at all, and keeps my musical mind in shape. Shit, just toss any idea you got at me and I'll make it work.

Really? [ She might have sounded a little too excited there. Musical requests is a new idea here. ] Well, something along those lines is obviously good, but - why not do something time-themed? [ She might have asked for something relating to her own world, but he's...never seen that. ]

[Time themed? He smirks and nods.] Yeah, time works. It's something we can both benefit from. There's never enough stuff winding around the ticking of a clock or the grinding whine of the gears. Yes, hell yes. I'll start messing with it right here.

That sounded very poetic, you know. The bit about grinding gears and winding ticking clocks.

Well you know, [He spreads his hands and tilts his head slightly to the side.] Rap and poetry are closer than people think. You guys call it slam poetry and we just use two different words for it.

Slamming it requires a lot of skill and getting the right beat down.

Yes, I was never very good at that part. Like I told another you! But maybe I'll pick something up from your "mixes".

Hey, why not sit in while I work one up. I can show you the ropes and get you used to kicking it.

Really? I don't know the first thing about the sound equipment. Except that it is...sound equipment. [ Not that she's saying no, because adventure ahoy, but he should be warned what he's offering. ]

[He turns and leads the way back to his dj station. Usually he's a bit of a dork, but right now he moves like a man on a mission, weaving through the people with ease. Dave waits for her by his turn tables then pulls on his headphones and sets his hands to controls.] It starts simple, you got to consider what beat you want.

[ Navigating the crowd doesn't take much effort on Aradia's part, either. She trails after Dave, maybe offering a smile or two to those she recognizes, but otherwise stays on task, ending up by the turn tables with her hands clasped behind her back.

At least she's familiar with music, if not this kind, so she'll nod here. ] Right!

[ And then you presumably do something with those controls there. Wow that's quite a few buttons and switches and...things. ]

[He thinks about the sounds he wants and eyes the turntables. As he sways to the music already going he selects a series of controls on the mixing console.] This is where people tend to screw this shit up. It's not about being perfect, it's about getting what you want. Feel the music, don't try to control it. That's where it all goes wrong.

Like art, or time I guess you do what you got to do. [And that's to fade the old tune out and let a mix of drums and thrumming take over right now.]

It sounds a little like managing timelines. My land was "Quartz and Melody", you know. Music boxes everywhere.

[ That was a different sort of music from this, but time and melody are linked in her mind from that. ]

Time is a lot like music. They both have a flow to them. Mine was "Clockworks and Heat", time pieces all over.

[With that in mind he starts a mix to convey what his land sounded it. He has a recording of grinding gears and ticking time pieces.]

[ Aradia doesn't respond immediately, instead shutting her eyes to listen to the gears and ticking. It's interesting, and she's trying to conjure up an image of that place - she'd never paid much attention to the trolling attempts, but she's seen bits and pieces of it in the dream bubbles, and it fits. ]

Do you miss it?

[He adds in the hissing and popping of the lava and the hollow echoes of something rapping against stone. Together with the gears and the ticking it feels oddly like coming home. Heat is something he knows. Humidity was an old friend he never forgot. It takes him a moment to respond.] Yeah actually, I do. It was like it was suited to me even the alligator consorts.

I miss mine, too. Maybe when I learn enough about this, I'll play you the melody of the land of Melody. [ Although there had always been music, although there had always been music boxes - it had been a quiet sort of place, sometimes. A quiet sort of music. ]

That would be pretty sweet, I'd like to hear it. [He adds little moments of ambiance, creating within the music the importance places on The land of heat and clockworks. The temples, the stock market, even those places you wouldn't think much of, but Dave did.]
