[Kanaya sighs as she's shooed, glancing back at the presents and barely resisting the urge to push past him and straighten them again.]

Karkat I am [Yawn.] fine.

No you're not. You've been up for hours, working non stop. You are going to sit your butt down and fucking rest, got it?

Uh.

[Well this is an odd reversal. But after a couple seconds of surprise she slowly nods adn sinks down into the chair Karkat was pushing her towards.]

If you insist. I still have to...straighten the gift pile.

It looks beautiful. Everyone's just going to trash it later anyway.

It looks...acceptable.

[Picky troll is picky.]

Yes, yes it does. Now sit still while I find a blanket and don't get up.

[She gives him a bit of a look and then sighs and slumps down in the chair, crossing her arms.]

Fine, fine.

[ soon enough, Karkat returns. tucking Kanaya in with a blanket. ]

[In the two minutes he was gone, she acquired Sunshine the Budew, who has snuggled up in her lap. Also she's dozing, but she wakes up and frowns at Karkat.]

One hour. Then wake me up. I do not want to miss the party there are too many people I need to meet.

All right. I'll wake you up in an hour. But I'm staying right here so no one bothers you for that hour.

That is unnecessary, Karkat. Go have fun.

[She tugs her legs up oh the chair, settling in under the blanket. Her Budew pokes out of the top, already asleep.]

I am having fun.

[ nope. not going anywhere. ]

[She looks like she might say something else, and then she just rolls her eyes and sighs, settling in for a brief nap. Which kicks in really fast. At least she doesn't snore.]

[ did you really think Karkat will wake her up in an hour? try an hour and a half. then he goes over and shakes her shoulder a bit. ]

[Frankly Kanaya will be relieved it's only been that long, though it didn't feel long at all. She wakes up slowly though, blinking up at him as it takes her a couple seconds to remember where she is. She would have sworn she only just closed her eyes.]

Mmm. I only just closed my eyes...

[Whine whine.]

Yeah, I know. But you'd hate me if I didn't wake you up.

[ he's even helping by removing that blanket. ]

[Beneath the blanket is an unhappy Budew who thinks nap time should NOT have ended. She gives Karkat a bit of a glare before reluctantly scrambling down onto the floor as Kanaya sits up, rubbing at her eyes.]

I did not miss much of the party then, I hope?

[ Karkat kneels and gives the plant beast an apologetic pat. ]

Nope. It's still going pretty strong.

[The Budew still looks cross, but only for a moment before she rubs her head happily against his hand and them scampers off in search of fun. Kanaya stands slowly and carefully smoothes down her skirt.]

I suppose you were right. I do feel somewhat better. [She concedes reluctantly after a moment.]

Of course I'm right. I did pick up on a few things being a leader, bad as I was.

[ he stands there for a moment, hands on his hips. ]

Go find your stuff from under the tree and open it to see what swag you've collected.

...People are giving me gifts? [Kanaya wasn't really expecting that, since she'd barely arrived at all, but she walks over to the tree as she asks and starts hunting around for her name.]
