I liked it more than the weather here, that's for sure. All the seasons are too cold.

Whatever. Those months were way on the far end of what I would tolerate normally.

But I guess I've just got to keep wearing jackets in the middle of summer.

Or, here's a truly radical suggestion, you might attempt this thing known as adapting.

Bodies are going to do that one way or another.

Mentally, you have to adjust too. If you keep telling yourself it's way too cold, you'll feel way too cold.

I'll stop telling myself it's way too cold when I don't wake up with my ass frozen off.

At the risk of sounding like a pretentious tool, me. I've had years to study this shit.

Why'd you have so much free time?

Because I didn't have school, or schoolfeeding, or any of that shit. Everything I learned I had to find out on my own.

Never said it was. Schoolfeeding ended a few sweeps ago for me, but nothing of value was ever gained. [He cracked his knuckles.] So, what else did you teach yourself?

Whatever shit I could. Robots, mostly. History, some. Had to teach myself to swim, that was a thrill and a half. Swordfighting. Things like that.

Now I feel inferior. All I ever learned was hacking.

Hacking's pretty damn cool. You get plenty of kudos for that, dude.

Hmph. [Still, Sollux sounds a bit amused as he says this.] Well, it makes for a steady job as a Center technician, I guess. You got anything to do around here, or is it just fighting people for money?

I got a job at the Pokecenter when I got here. Sucks that I can only work part-time, but it's better than beating up little trainer kids for their pocket money.

Right now, Info Tech at the Pokecenter. Boring as fuck, though, I could literally do the file sorting in my sleep. I'll probably find something else in the next city.

File sorting? Hate to be you. [His job is way more interesting! ...Okay, marginally more interesting. But at least it's not file sorting.] I'm with the Gear and Center technicians in there. Took some training for it while I was stranded in Goldenrod with KK and Vanitas. They might be here, actually.

Couldn't say, the names don't sound familiar. [He'll run into Karkat eventually, but he doesn't know Sollux's nickname for him.]

One's short and shouty. One's a bit taller and shouty, except you can hide a pipe bomb in the girth of his hair.
