Who:
magictricking &
cheapblusuits
Where: Cherrygrove
When: Uh... after This /is helpful
Summary: In which daddy and daughter meet.
Rating: I hope it's not above G. ...
Log:
Trucy wasn't one for abandoning her partners, usually. But finding out her adoptive daddy was here, and that he was several years younger than he should be for her... well, she needed to see this, and she wanted to see it alone.
So, she's ran past the last stretch of route twenty-nine, and catches her breath as she sees the sign for Cherrygrove. Now, to find a man in a cheap blue suit with spiky hair.
... Gosh, that outfit brought back memories. She sets off running again to find him, and screeches to a halt at the sight of that hair.
"... D-daddy?"

"... D-daddy?"

...Phoenix didn't think it was possible for the lead weight in his stomach to feel heavier, but, well, there it went. Exactly as Kay had described; a young brunette in a light blue magician's outfit, complete with a matching top hat. Blue eyes that he would have thought came from him, if he hadn't been informed beforehand that Trucy was adopted. An eager -- but nervous and fearful and everything Phoenix imagined he was feeling at the moment -- expression on her face as she tentatively called him "daddy."
This was his daughter.
"...Trucy?"

Don't cry, Trucy. You've been through a lot already. This could only make your relationship better, right? You have a chance to know daddy from a time you never saw.)
"Trucy Wright, Ace Magician!" She grinned, tipped her hat and then brought a hand to her belt, feeling the pokéball. "And an Ace Trainer now." Another pause, and she briefly glances at the sea behind him. She liked the sea, it was wide and you never thought much about how powerful it was until it rose up and fought.
... It was kind of like Apollo, actually.
"How you doing, daddy-o?"

He followed her quick glance at the ocean, and couldn't help but notice that look, the kind of...faraway glint that Maya sometimes got whenever she went off on some conversation tangent in the middle of a serious discussion, and that made him smile, just a bit. Phoenix had a feeling that, in whatever parallel future world or whatever that Trucy came from, she and Maya probably got along swimmingly.
And there he goes on his own mental tirade, just as bad as his assistent and, apparently, his daughter, and Phoenix snapped himself back to attention when Trucy started to speak again.
"I've been alright, I guess." He glanced away a bit and rubbed at the back of his neck, in that charactistic habit he could never manage to break. "As alright as one can be here, really." It then came to mind that Trucy must be as confused as he was when he first woke up here, and a hint of worry slipped into his tone as he added, "How about you, Trucy?"
no subject
How was she? Well, honestly, not terrible, but it would have been nice to see a familiar face that also recognised her. "Great. I've been training with Mr. Hat Junior!" She just smiled instead, and released the Totodile from its pokéball.
"Is there anyone else from California here?" She guessed Kay was, since Kay recognised the Gramarye name, but that nice lady who'd introduced her to Johto didn't know where California was (forgiveable, she wasn't great at geography either) or who The Gavinners were (an absolute sin against nature, as far as Trucy was concerned.)

He paused and thought for a moment at Trucy's question. Who WAS here, actually? "From California...well, let's see." Phoenix put on his thinking face and started counting off his fingers, a name at a time; "There's Edgeworth, Mr. Doe, Kay, Larry, Mia...I don't know about anyone else, but those are all the ones I know of." Phoenix shrugged and his hands returned to his pockets, a slight tilt to his head as he gave Trucy a curious expression. Part of him was wondering if Trucy would recognize any of those names -- being from the future and all, it would be curious to know how many of them he managed to keep in touch with. The other part of him, though, was too busy worrying itself sick over whether finding out that kind of thing would make the universe implode itself, or something drastic like that.

But none of these people would remember her, she mused. Well, maybe. If she was here, maybe Larry or Mr. Edgeworth were from her time, too?
"What about Apollo? He's about..." She raised her hand just slightly higher than her hat, "this tall and has two spikes like the antennae on an old TV!"

At her question, he racked his brains for a face to match the name...and rather vivid description. Apollo, Apollo..."Er, no. I haven't seen anyone like that." What kind of name is 'Apollo?' "Why, is he...a friend of yours?" Being the good, suddenly-thrust-into-parenthood father that he was, Phoenix couldn't hide the wary tone in his voice as he tried to think of a reason why his daughter would have male friends at her age. And ones that appeared to be a bit older than her, at that, if the girl's size estimate was anything to go by.
...of course, Phoenix couldn't really talk, considering his own teenage assistent, but he decided to keep mun about that for now.

"He's my brother." Everyone seemed to guess friend. Well, he really was more of a friend. She had only just learned that they had any actual blood relation between them and at least she was right that having him around was like having her long lost, big, little brother there to torment-- er, nurture and help with his career.
"He's an attorney," she added, grinning. She had to leave off 'like you', because that would open up a whole other can of worms, about what she knows about Phoenix's future.
no subject
...of course, that train of thought is derailed rather quickly once Trucy mentions the whole brother thing. "Wait, your BROTHER?" Will it ever end? "Did I--er, DO I adopt him, too?" Phoenix takes a moment to wonder what the hell is wrong with him in the future; he certainly never imagined himself as a father, never really WANTED to be a father, but apparently, his future self has other ideas. And...TWO kids? Seriously? He's having a hard enough time trying dealing with one.
Not only that, but this aforementioned brother is an ATTORNEY? Curiouser and curiouser. "An...attorney. Er, a defense attorney, I'm hoping?" Phoenix gives Trucy a somewhat wary look, trying to imagine an...antenna-haired boy wearing his trademark blue suit. Or... Oh God please don't tell me I father a prosecutor.
no subject
Instead of getting too caught up on that, Trucy watched their Pokémon for a moment before answering his questions.
"He does practically live with us. And he's a defence attorney! ...I don't think he'd make a good prosecutor." Prosecutors tended to be cool, like Prosecutor Gavin. What a prince!
no subject
--not to mention this prince of a prosecutor, but in all honesty, the man isn't too keen on getting onto the subject of prosecutors at the moment.
"Er, Trucy, if you don't mind me asking..." He glances sideways at his daughter, the question he's been dying to ask at the very tip of his tongue, hesitant and coming with potentially hazardous consequences. "...do you have a mother?" Well, of COURSE she HAS a mother, but...she knows what I mean.
no subject
"It's a bit weird, huh? We only found out a few weeks ago." To be fair, it was a pretty standard turnabout and result for something in Phoenix's future. That is something he'll come to learn.
"Um..." Oh, Phoenix, do you really want to get into this part of it? But what he means clicks in her head as soon as she stops thinking about Miss Lamiroir... er. Mom. "I keep asking for one but you never bring one! ... Maybe you need a makeover in the future."
